Try this site http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ it shows paint chips (for '86-'88 select American Motors), the paint code is probably on the driver's side firewall tag (this is from a '90) .
I just saw a '73 or '74??? (squarish double taillights) Javelin AMX on the highway last Sunday in the Walnut Creek CA area in fully restored condition, wish I had a camera with me. Had 401 badges, looked SWEET!!!
Alex,
Don't mind us crotchety old me.
I would replace the bottle and/or cap, seems like your system is burped. This thread may have some useful info if you haven't come across it already. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24052&hilit=thermostat
Don't forget about the JY. I found some nice covers out of a Cherokee. They were very dirty and stained but the fabric was in great shape, a little overnight soak in Oil Eater (available at Costco) and some scrubbing and they turned out like this. Had to do a little modification for the levers since they were out of a 4-door.
The hitch should mount to the where the bumper brackets attach on the side rail. Pull one out and get slightly longer ones, you might need some spacers also (mine came with them, you can see them in the picture poking out behind the first two bolts).
Is that Tommy Lee?
Rob L. :rotf:
Funny, I thought it was Sam Hornish Jr., with a soul patch and a bad hair day. :rotfl2:

I just purchased one of these http://www.macsradiator.com/replacmentjeepradiatorfilltanks.aspx, a little pricey (could get five stock plastic ones from Quadratech http://www.quadratec.com/advisor/jeep_oem_replacement_parts/cooling/cooling_bottle.php for the same price), but I got tired of the cracking bottle and the bad cap seals.
To make "burping" easier, the OEM thermostat has a hole in to let the air through, most if not all after market do not, I drill a hole if they don't have one. This may be making it difficult for you to get all the air out.
