Don, this site says the check digit is not correct, should be 8 http://jeep.avtograd.ru/VIN/vin_de.asp (in German) the English version isn't working anymore.
You're correct it can be an '87  (actually '87-'89), but I'm still guessing '88 only because there are more '88s registered here on CC .
It is used to lower the tire down. Put it in the hole through the rear for the tire winch and then put the crank in it. Most were lost long ago.
I know for a fact that type of lug wrench and "adapter" did not come on '90 models but not sure when they changed. I did find them in an '86 at the JY, now they're in my '88.
O.K. now you're just throwing in "Strange Brew" references ;)

Thanks, any input on good brands? NAPA, O'Reilly, Autozone are the parts stores by me.
Just removed the calipers (not disconnected yet waiting for input to purchase), the right one was dragging very badly.
I see there are brake calipers with OE Phenolic Piston or Metal Piston. Is there and advantage of one over the other? The metal is more expensive, worth it?
Also, what does semi-loaded mean in a caliper description?
You can probably make him a lower offer that he would accept. A lot of his listings are "Buy It Now or Best Offer". $100 doesn't seem too outrageous, Spencer at http://jeepsticker.com sells ELIMINATOR decals for $145.
That looks like the one I replaced on my AX15.
Team Cherokee has the Peugot mount for $78, near the bottom of page 1!!

This seller on eBay has them autographixdesign. He doesn't have a current listing but I just asked him, his reply:
Yes I have them on file.. what colors did you need? The kit is 99.95 plus shipping.
It's called a headlight delay module. It's located behind the knee panel to the left of the steering wheel, the silver box in the picture below. The wiring is on p66 of the '88 Electrical manual, but everything should be plug-and-play http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12734&hilit=electrical. Just saw the years of your XJs, not sure of "newer" models.
This is for an '88 should mostly apply, '89s are slightly different. Hope this helps. And welcome.

I have a shifter boot and retainer ring. The boot has a small hole in it that can't be seen unless you stretch it out. How about $10 total for both (shipping included)?
