    WORKING JEEP

Of the MJ working........... Hauling back a 'newer' box = Buried in 2 feet of snow from the October ('96) surprised storm, before the plow was on  That's all the working shots I have.........guest I'm too busy working to take pictures
  2. First.......I'm going to toss this at you....... If you follow the schematic above, you'll see where the brake switch goes to the turn single switch (AKA- the smart switch) from what you just described, that your left turn lights both indicators, that could be a bad light socket in the front marker/turn, but your dash lights don't work, so.......I would think the smart switch is shot/shorted. When you turn on the turns, do you hear a "blinking/clicking" sound??? You could just switch the 2 turn blinkers first to see it that makes a difference. I know, this don't sound like it has anything to do with the dash light, but, unless you double checked the cluster for shorts, or even for a good ground, the other option would be to change the light switch it's self, if when you turned it, and the dash didn't light up or go dim.
  3. how much for shipping to RI? :rotf: $3.95 :D
  4. Got your PM, and I'll give you a call Saturday to speed things up, to make sure I have one, and to get the correct info from you. Ah, yea, most of us here are serious about things ;)
  5. I got......... A day off, and rested most of the day :D Besides cooking a 13 pound turkey and all the trimmings  Anyone want some turkey left overs?????
  6. Yea.........A Merry Christmas to you and yours :D
  7. Coming down to Buffalo any time soon??? Like Boxing day at the Galleria Mall :brows: I should have one, I'll check in the shop over the weekend.
  8. A bubble flair is similar to the double flair, but uses a different "die" than what you would use for the double flair. You should use the bubble flair set for the proper fitment.
  9. Very interesting the info you found out about this '91....... :brows: So......loaded with that information, a call to the seller (dealer) might be in order, and make an offer that you want to pay for this "rare" '91 and see what the outcome would be. Of course, you could always direct the seller (dealer) over here, and let him know that about 3 thousand+ others also now know this same information  As far as the "repairs" that have been done, and the discrepancy in the odometer reading, that would be your choice if you want to have something with that history tag on to it :dunno:
  10. So........If I'm reading that right........Rockauto sent the wrong tank and wrong pump??? But, you found the problem to be the rubber hose from the pump to the sending unit outlet, correct??? Solution would be to replace the rubber line, and send everything back, and walk a way with an easy fix (and cheap too) :brows: While you have the tank out.........A good cleaning with a wire wheel and a couple of coats of THIS sure would not hurt ;)
  11. Think we had this topic before :hmm: But, with tis the season and all.............. Early Dismissal It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal. Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today." Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question." Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?" Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln." Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home." Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first. Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?" Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King." Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go." Johnny is even madder than before. Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?" Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy." Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave." Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions. When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these b***hes would keep their mouths shut!" The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?" Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?"
  12. Man.......... You keep failing them classes, and it will be another 10 years before you get you PHD........ :shake: Well.......good to see you 'drop' in once in a while........ :waving: So, what's wrong with you internet connection??? The string tied between the two trees keep getting slack in it when the wind blows???? I told you, you need to have a Hunt's can (empty) tied on each end of the string, and only the Hunt's cans, nothing else will work. That's now Al Gore invented the internet, with left over cans from his wife's company. Oh, and stop playing with that sling shot, you keep breaking out the windows, 'you'll shoot your eye out kid'
  13. Because..........You know how I am
  14. I didn't see a WTB add yet......... But, your about 5 hours Southeast of me, I know it takes 4 hours to get to Binghamton :brows: I have a '88 re-man 4.0 in a XJ with about 40K on it, with the paper work :D But, if your in the neighborhood............stop by, I got everything for doing an engine swap  PA, like NY are part of the "Mid-Atlantic" states.
  15. Well........if it really not too far out of your way............ If the body is really in good shape, and the frame is in "one" piece..........I have a couple of donors for the 4.0, 4wd drive train :brows: But I can't get down there until after the 1st :(
  16. It's always great to see other places get a little too much snow at once :D Kind of take the bad wrap off the Buffalo area :teehee: I know your not use to it, but........after some time, you'll enjoy it  That's if your back holds out from all the shoveling.
  17. Why even think twice about it :dunno: If you find something like that, as long as the frame is not rotted out, it's a buyer. Even if the frame is shot, it's still a buyer, some parts are always hard to find, and if it's a total rot box, there are enough parts on it to re-coop your investment. As most on here know, I would not even think twice about it, it would be in my fleet before I even posted a picture of it :D And yes, I have a few just like that, and for that price :brows: I know one of the "Rules" here on CC is that you don't need to have an MJ to join, but there is no "Rule" that says you can't have more that one MJ, and that's the rule I follow :D Let us know when you get it home
  18. Friday the 13th  Maybe he ended up in the Twilight zone
  19. The lwb (23 gallon) tank will not fit on a swb MJ. It will hit the axle. Plus, just for adding an additional 5 gallons of storage, it's just not worth all the work. And, your sending unit will not read correct, there is the long arm for the swb (18 gal tank) and the short arm for the lwb (23 gal tank). Lose that link you posted, there prices are way out of line  Both Rockauto and Raybuck have much better prices on New gas tanks.
  20. It takes approximately 250 pounds of force to re-shuttle the distribution block, to turn the brake light off.
  21. The first MJ I was ever close to was a guy we build a house for in '95, he used his '86 2.5, 4 speed to commute about an hour and 20 minutes each way, the box was complete gone, and he had a flat deck and a ladder rack on the top, Then one day, the engine died on him, and he stuck it in the hedge row (for all I know, it could still be there :dunno: ) Then, a couple years latter, one of my old neighbors bought one from a co-worker, I "borrowed" it a couple of time when my van broke down, and need to run into town for parts. And in '02 he called me up one day, and asked if I wanted to by it, he had his car, company truck and didn't use it much at all anymore.........So, I bought my first '89 MJ, 2.5, 5 speed, 2wd swb. Couldn't keep that thing over 55 on the open road :fs1: The box was half rotted off, and then the frame started to go. Then about a year and half latter, a friend of mine found a '88 with a plow, he wanted the plow, and I got the truck, drove that for a year, and then bought the plow back, and stuck that back on, and used the plow that year. Yes, I still have that '88, and well............a few more since then  I'll just say........over the past 7 years, I've owned 17 MJ's, several have gone to the parts gods, a couple more need to go, and the rest are standing full scale models :D
  22. Hi Don :waving: Yea, I'm back in the snow/cold/rust belt :( mfpdm = not that I didn't want you to see what it was, nor the time table, that got delayed a couple of days any ways  I didn't get down to the VB area until about 5pm on Wednesday, and by the time I found the storage place, and loaded up, it was 8pm back on the road, and didn't hit Richmond until 10pm. Long day too, was on the road since 4:30am :ack: I should have contacted you after I was "talked" into staying a couple extra days. In fact, my sister ended up taking me down to Williamsburg on Saturday to check that out, first time I've ever been there. Any who, had a great trip, didn't end up rushing like I originally planed, and came back with a '91 for the full scale model collection :D I'll take some pictures of the '91 after some of the snow melts around it........I think it's the first time the poor thing has ever seen snow  OH, and got to meet MJeff :D
  23. I'm re-reading your updates here.........and thinking.........EGR valve :hmm: Find the vacuum line to the EGR valve, and pull it off, and plug the line with a screw, then try to start it and see what happens. A plugged / faulty valve will let the engine fire, and then choke it right out. Short easy test to do.
  24. So that phone call I got late yesterday morning, on my way back made my trip even better.........Hearing that you were up and running    Like I said the other night.........just maybe a good phone conversation over what the problem might be, is better than all this typing :headpop: :teehee: I was really super glad to hear that it fired right up :D I was planning on stopping on the way back, so I ended up missing that steak dinner :( But, you said it best, now you know, and had a Great learning experience over this  Button it up, and get it on the road Who knows...........I just might be in your neighbor hood some time passing thru ;)
