A diet, yes, but it got a bath, too! I plan to feed it a steady diet of 97+ parts 3 times a day until it achieves a healthy weight.

1989 Comanche fuel sending unit
scaleless replied to Rc_manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well... It's possible it was swapped to something. Send pics. If you meant 1986 and it has the 2.8L then you want an MTS JPSU-5 http://mtscompany.com/sendingunits.htm -
A cheap meter won't accurately read such short pulses even on AC. I would ignore it.

I would listen for the fuel pump when the key is on. It's fairly loud if it's working. You can also get a rough idea of fuel pressure by depressing the Schrader valve on the fuel rail and seeing how forcefully it vents.

Generally if the government tells me not to do something, I want to do it even more. VIN swaps are no exception!

How many have seen or own a Jeep Comanche 1985 launch Coin?
scaleless replied to Kjdrew35000's topic in The Pub
You know, I really didn't need to spend any more money this week! -
Yes, however the computer is pretty good at guessing the injector timing if the distributor ring burns up. Probably wouldn't cause a non-start, but anything is possible.

You sure this guy isn't using his Jeeps to store bootleg fireworks or something? Lol

If it's anything like Renix, you can read it with any serial adapter or an Arduino and all it takes is some reverse engineering to figure out how to interpret the datastream.

Powder coating is obviously going to be lot stronger and that's important when it's battling road debris all day, but I really don't think that makes up for its cost. A good 2k is also a lot clearer, but I don't think you'd notice without a side-by-side. I would personally go with a 2k.

If it ran on brakleen, it's definitely fuel. Run down to the parts store and rent a fuel pressure guage. Grab a new fuel filter while you're at it. That said, it might run with one cylinder down so much on compression, but probably not too well. Could also be an indication of more serious issues, and I would bet is the reason why it was parked.

I would take a set or maybe even two of a DIY kit!

Reverse is the only unsynchronized gear, so if the clutch was dragging, reverse would be the first to show issues. That said, I think an AX15 swap is still a worthwhile investment even if your BA10 isn't trash.

Probably the under hood light wire. Always hot, and is switched by a push button switch on its ground.

1989 Comanche fuel pump relay buzzing...
scaleless replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a couple that I would part with for cheap if you sent me your broken one. -
Definitely use heat shrink, specifically the kind with glue on the inside. Not only is electrical tape much more of a hassle, but it also does not seal the joints against moisture, which leads to corrosion. As for the joint itself, I prefer to tin both sides and simply overlap them. It significantly reduces the bulk of the joint over twisting them together, but definitely isn't strong if poorly-soldered.

Very clean! I hope it sells at that price. -
HO vs Renix
scaleless replied to Dickinson County Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You'll need to drill out the temp sender hole at the back of the head. I don't think the HO block has the tapped hole for the knock sensor either (I may be wrong), but you could just drill and tap or relocate the sensor. If you'd like, you can also probably use the HO intake and exhaust, with significant modification. It flows better, for sure. Not sure if someone has already done a write-up, but it should be pretty straightforward. You just need to attach the Renix throttle body and sensors. But are you missing the engine, or do you just want the AX15? A rebuild would be easier, I think. -
My local pizza place has been reducing the size of their calzones. It's truly a tragedy! That said, their calzones cost way less than a meal at McD so I'm still eating pizza every day lmao

That price should be the punchline at a comedy show.

Scaleless's '87 SporTruck Project
scaleless replied to scaleless's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The problem - or, at least, a problem - is the #3 injector is malfunctioning. Which is somewhat my fault - I'll elaborate more once I post about my fuel rail shenanigans lmao. Now I just have to swap it without coating my freshly-painted engine components with fuel. Again.
