I think @jdogand I are both going to pick it over tomorrow.
  6. Yeah, I like the look over the other flares they offer. I wonder if they will ever make the rear flares to match for the 2DR XJ/MJ.
  7. "As long as I'm in there" syndrome kicking in. As long as I have the drywall ripped up and I'm redoing it all, I'm going to do a little wiring. It's easy to spend over $100 at Home Despot.

    RR Caboose?

They haven't needed a caboose in a train for a long time. All they really need is an end of train device that at most has some electronics and a pressure sensor for the air line. Railroads really don't like spending a single penny they don't absolutely have to so there has to be some other compelling reason for them to be toting an extra car along with the rest of the train.
  9. Come see the violence inherent in the system!
  10. The TJ 44 is the same. Though the TJ Rubicon has a carrier that requires a special setup kit since the carrier shims are different. But you don't want to waste time with a Rubicon carrier. There are better lockers than that. The MJ and XJ 44 uses the same carrier as the Chevy/Dodge/Ford 44s used in the 70s through into the 90s. The JK axle is the "next generation" 44 that is a confusing mess. Different ring and pinion gears but the non-Rubicon carrier is the same as the old generation 44 for 3.73 and down (but works for all gears 3.21 through 5.38 in the new generation axle). The JK Rubicon 44 uses a completely different carrier and different bearings that won't fit in and older 44.
  11. The MJ Dana 44 is a standard axle using standard bearings, shims, carriers, and gears.
  12. I make it out to Cedar Rapids, IA to visit my family once in a while. But it's usually only for holidays and I'm usually driving my Subaru (or whatever will replace it).
  13. Looks good. Glad someone finally got some use out of those things.

    Winter ballast

One of the best phrases in the English language: Throttle induced oversteer
  15. Roughly the same more or less. They're both 1/2 ton truck axles. The Chrysler 8.25 is in the same general league.
  16. Or head down to the Circle K and hop in the phone booth.
  17. I'd agree. A stroker only makes sense when you're already rebuilding the engine. Especially if you're doing an over bore and have to buy pistons anyway. The incremental cost for the crank and the right pistons is small compared to the rest of the rebuild. But if you have an already good engine, a stroker is a big expense. I am planning an inexpensive stroker build when it's time for me to rebuild the engine. And that's on the near horizon for my XJ as I'm getting a rod knock. But my MJ engine is running fine so I'm going to leave it for a while.
  18. Definitely YJ But CJ6 for sure. FC150 or FC170?
  19. Sunshine. All day long. (pun intended) Locker or limited slip?
  20. They would probably work better if the output from them was hooked up to something.
  21. There's a few specialty tools you'll need and it's precision work that requires some effort. It's not rocket surgery but you probably want a coach your first time through it.
  22. If you do it right it will be plenty reliable. A lot of people try to run too much camshaft on stock springs and have valvetrain issues as a result. Mostly it's having more than 0.500" lift. There's a forum that doesn't get much traffic any more. https://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/ They have some good info though.
  23. One. Two wasn't anywhere near as good. Early to bed or early to rise?
  24. In-N-Out A Christmas Story or It's A Wonderful Life?
  25. Yeah, it's all downhill for you now. But the ride does get more fun along the way.
