  1. Run the power to the lockup converter through a dual pole brake light switch like GM used for the 700R4. They had one pole for the brake light (normally closed but the button was depressed with foot off the brake). They added a normally open (closed with foot off the brake) switch that would cut power and disable the torque converter lockup when you press on the brake.
  2. I want it to shift up from 1st to 2nd earlier than the computer does but I don't want it to go all the way to 3rd on it's own.
  3. Mine is on jackstands too
  4. If someone wants to buy this but needs to wait to pick it up I can grab it and hang on to it for a while for you. It's maybe 10-15 miles away from me.
  5. It's a little early for Christmas humor but this one is funny.
  6. I'm talking about PA. I'm just speculating on what it would take to do that trip from Denver. Moab is 6 hours from me. I most likely won't have my MJ done in time for next fall. Maybe 2022.
  7. If you go to the Cole Hersee website, they have lots of options for those switches. The 58327 series has lights. The -01 is the single pole, single throw version. The -06 is the single pole, double throw. They make them without lights in them, as well as having double pole and momentary switches as well so you can find what you want. They're available on Amazon once you find the part number.
  8. Plan B showed up today. I found some switches that will do what I want and fit in the factory holes.
  9. Automatic lockers and snow don't mix well. You'd be better off with a limited slip or selectable locker. But those are a whole lot more expensive.
  10. I like long road trips. And if I can break up the trip with a few stops and make it a 2 week holiday it would be easier to handle.
  11. I just looked it up. 24 hours plus stops for me. It's only 16 minutes longer if I go up to I80 instead of taking I70 the whole way. But that would let me stop and visit family in Iowa along the way.
  12. Everyone starts at the bottom. Oil change shop, parts store, tire shop. Gotta pay your dues for a couple of years. The sooner you start the faster you get through it. Take advantage of every opportunity to learn. Don't be afraid of working hard and pitching in where they need you. Make contacts with as many people as you can. Be the guy they can depend on. Follow the opportunities that present themselves. Get your license as soon as you can. Find a good tech school and get the certifications after you're done with high school.
  13. No. I can figure out replacements though.
  14. I'm converting to tow mirrors that I found in the junkyard off another MJ. The passenger side glass is missing. What's the best source for replacement glass? If there isn't one, what is a good source for a replacement mirror head with glass? It doesn't have to look 100% exact, just close.
  15. Yeah, there's several aftermarket options. And that's my fall back.
  16. I've never taken one of the factory switches apart. I don't know how easy it would be to modify them. I have a few switches to play with. I might try taking them apart to see.
  17. That would be awesome if you can do it.
  18. I've done worse. Glad you got it figured out.
  19. Saw that. I am going to roll my own.
  20. Yeah, my goal is to have 3 choices: 1. Factory normal operation (off) 2. Force first gear (on 1) 3. Force second gear (on 2) And I want to do it so that if the computer wants 3rd or 4th, the switches are bypassed. I have the wiring and relays figured out. I have an aftermarket switch that would work. I would prefer a factory style switch if one exists.
  21. So I'm planning some modifications for my project Jeep. I'm looking at using one of the factory switch holes for a custom function. Short version is I want a toggle switch that will let me force first or second gear when I shift down to 1-2, or to leave it in "factory mode" where it shifts itself. I have the wiring figured out with a couple of relays. I just need a switch. An aftermarket switch will work but if I can find one that looks factory, it would be cooler. The switch needs to be a single pole double throw switch with on-off-on positions. It would work similarly to the XJ rear wiper/washer switch except that the wash position on the XJ switch is a momentary switch (i.e. it goes back to off when you take your finger off it). What I want is to be able to set the switch up, down, or middle and it stays there until I switch it again. Was there ever an application that used an on-off-on switch that wasn't a momentary switch? If so, where would I find one?

    I found a 44!

I like to show off my rear end as well but that usually gets me in trouble.

  25. It was early 90's. '96 certainly has 23 splines. According to this: https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1053970, they made the switch in the AW4 mid year in 1990
