  1. Nice truck to start with for sure! Have fun with it!
  2. So to be clear, you are looking for the early style all caps “COMANCHE” badge or the later style “Comanche” badge?
  3. Also, the build sheet says it was a 2.5L. And that is a 4.0L.
  4. Drove past the site again today and the truck still sits there with the for sale sign on it.
  5. Over the last few years we’ve noted that it is getting extremely hard to find quality candidates at our entry level positions at the Railroad. The jobs we are hiring for require folks to be honest, self-motivated and willing to learn new things. Seems pretty basic, but wow is it hard to find someone who fully lives up to those qualities after a year of employment. We typically advance careers from within. Our mangers today were the grunts many years ago. Railroading is an old industry and we still do many things in old ways. Folks start out on the bottom rungs and then move up after they have done their time. Seems to me that if one can easily demonstrate desirable qualities in the first year of work at any similar career, that person could have the world ahead of them compared to the rest of the herd that is out there these days... be humble and ask lots of questions when you start out wherever you land, respect those who have done their time and the lessons they have learned the hard way. Do something you have a passion for and it will never feel like work - Best of Luck!
  6. Thanks - I did look at it and it did not exactly match the one we have. The one we have has the fitting for inserting a half inch drive ratchet to tension the serp belt. I'm 4 states away from the truck now and it's my brothers anyway. We'll see if anything shows up, I'll keep watching here and elsewhere online. I've also got some yards to hit here in WI and I'm guessing that I've got a good chance to find it at one of them. If not it'll probably get the welding treatment to properly repair.
  7. My brother and I are working on his ‘86. Discovered that the alternator bracket was broken and just put back together many miles ago. Wondering if anyone has one they will part with for the right price? Otherwise we do have the ability to put time and welding toward this one to fix it... Would need to be shipped to 48618. Thanks!

    Merry Everything

Merry Christmas CC! Ben, thanks for starting this post, my Christmas was quite similar to yours this year, a great reminder of what matters most!
  9. Yeah, what about Vintage Parts - Its right by US 151, I drive by it all the time...
  10. This one is sure isn't far from being a very respectable ride based on the look over I gave it today. There are issues, but they are able to be taken care of. It is surely not a lost cause like most in the yards around here...
  11. I came across this one today in my travels. Looks like it is in the middle of a four-wheel-drive swap, the front axle is already changed out to a Dana 30 and the transmission and Tcase are in the bed of the truck. The drivers door has a very large dent in it. The drivers rocker panel is very well rusted, passengers rocker panel is in better shape. Both of the floors are also in good shape ( from the bottom side ). The rear bumper is also badly rusted. I do not know anything more about it other than these pictures that I took, there is no price listed on the for sale sign. Pete, the Colorado red fender flares all look to be in really good shape!
  12. That is pretty cool. Let the search begin!
  13. Especially like the water feed and return lines hooked up to the engine!
  14. 4.78 gear ratio, dang!
  15. You need just the one side?
  16. Thanks for sharing that, very cool! Yes, rail defects are a major issue out there, specifically in the old rail like we have on our RR. Sperry is one of a few companies that offer a quality product for locating the defects so that those pieces of rail can be removed and replaced. Neat to see the pics of the old cars. Everything done today is mostly done with hi rail trucks. Usually larger straight trucks need to be used as the platform because the equipment weighs so much. The trucks are very easy to move from place to place as you can imagine, interchanging the cars takes time. Also the trucks are easy to swap out when equipment troubles arise and they provide a means of transporting the operators to and from jobs and hotels for the many overnight stays associated with the work. Logistically they are much better suited than the cars were/are.
  17. And used stock rear bumper for $10!!!!!
  18. Never heard of a gun box... got any pics or other info on what you are looking for with that?
  19. Welcome to the club Scott, glad to see you got all signed up! For the record, the only thing I was able to accomplish while the truck was at my place for all those months was to fix the driver’s side door issue it had. It was sprung at some point and opened into the fender, made it super annoying to get in and out of until I fixed it. I also took the liberty to use it around the yard many, many times. No free rent here! The truck found it’s new owner a few weeks ago when the trip was made to tow it back to MI. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it Bro!
  20. I play with full scale trains. I’ve worked at the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad for as a Civil Engineer for 10 years now, I truly LOVE my job. Railroading is it’s own world and way of life. Here are some photos from this past year. Annual trade show showcasing equipment, and projects we had on the WSOR, etc.
  21. Hard to dismiss the facts presented. I can really respect the effort put into the r&d for this. Don’t have a need for one, but if I did I’d be going this route for sure.
  22. PM sent!
  23. Why they were put on there is unbeknownst to me? Yes, “unregistered” for sure!
