So a cheap o ring caused all the issues or was there something up with the filter itself? More parts that can perform multiple functions means that there are less parts and $$$ required to make the end product, eh Jeep? I’m sure the complexity of the added steps helps them justify bringing it in for their monkeys to work on it at a dealer too.

Maybe it’s because I’m viewing with my phone but I can’t see your location. Where are you at? Shipping will be the toughest part of getting this from anyone. I do have one. I am in south central WI.

@eaglescout526 Can you grab a build sheet for this one when you get the chance next? Thank You!

First long drive in new to me MJ.

You have a VERY clean truck underneath! I’m jealous. Sounds like you’ve got lots to learn about the truck, thats what CC is for! -
Get the parts when you can!
-
How did you get these pictures, any contact info for the yard the truck is at? Name/location?
-
THAT is a heck of a deal for $300 anywhere, not to mention you are on an island where you would otherwise have to pay big money to have MJ parts shipped to!
-
Yes, - just swap the arms out. The mechanisms are the same.
-
If you can get one from the rear doors of a 4 door XJ they will work. The arm is the only item that needs to be swapped out, if you have a vice with some punches it is not a tough job to do it. The rear doors of XJ's were never used as much as the fronts, so the mechanisms are usually in great shape in the salvage yards...

So where is it currently, how did you come across it?

Wow. Wow, wow, wow! THAT is a find!

Buy a lotto ticket ASAP!

So by “new”, are you looking for “new to you” or “new and never used - new old stock” If new old stock, I hope you are good at winning the lottery. :) Good Luck!

Photos from 2019: And that is how it sits right now. In 2020 I will have the rest of the skylights done on each end, finish up the green trim on the ends and get the other side's barn doors built (I need more of the rough sawn oak material from shipping containers at work). I may also paint the entry door something other than white, anyone have any suggestions for the color? Also - IF I do stain the oak siding, I am thinking I'll go with a tan stain. Otherwise, I am super happy to leave it weather naturally.

This is a project that I’ve been working at in my spare time since September of 2018. I don’t have much spare time, so it’s still a work in progress. Local building code allows me to build anything less than 120 square feet without a building permit. So the shed is 14’ long by 8.5’ wide, 119 sq ft. I have tried to spend as little on this as I could, resourcing materials for free from friends and other materials from Craigslist. The only materials that I bought from the lumber yard are the skylight panels, the green soffit/facia/trim, 4x6 poles, 6” grade boards, 2x6 door jamb material and 2x10 headers. Roofing steel was purchased second hand in a large lot, I kept what I needed and sold the rest, making money in the process. All 2x4s were free from a remodeling project at church. The door was also free from friends as they bought a new one for their house. Rough sawn oak siding was free from shipping containers at work or from trees on my property that I took to the sawmill (lesser quality boards with the knots were used for the siding). Windows were salvaged from the "well used" aluminum truck topper that came on my Ford F-250, and yes they open up! Pictures tell the rest of the story! These are photos from 2018.

This. What is it? For a $6K truck (yeah Street Comanche, I get the rarity...) there should be no large scale flaws in the paint that I can see from a photo put on the internet. It almost looks to me like a skim coat layer of fiberglass filler cracked and fell off here. I hope that is not it, but if that is the case and there is that much filler in the hood, BUYER BEWARE! Take a low strength magnet with you when checking it out and look at the backside of the panels!

87-92 Tail light harness connector source!
500 MJ replied to schardein's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For whatever reason, that yard I went to had a bunch of those Cadillacs in it and about 50/50 were the V6/V8. I’m going to toss a few of the connectors up in classifieds, there are plenty more there if folks need me to pull them. -
Junkyard truck. Still there, pulled a few parts from it today. Schmidt’s Auto Salvage, Waunakee WI. 2.5L. I hope to return to this one and snag a few more parts again this year, maybe yet this spring before the big snow melt.
-
Rear bumper is bent up, but it might be savable. I’ll take a good look next time I’m there. Yep, This one had the D44, it has gone missing since I was there last many years ago...
-
Well, the truck has been there for a LONG time, I’ve been pulling parts from it for many years. I think I found it in 2012... How badly do you need the harness, if I could wait to pull it in Sept or Oct that would be the best time to do it. This yard is super muddy and it would be a mess to do it any other time of year. First let me verify that the harness isn’t cut anywhere. This is a cut friendly yard so I can’t guarantee anything in that regard.
