1975 Brutally Simple Daily Driver
500 MJ replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Looks great! Let’s see how long the Nufinish holds up now.. -
I’m up for a meeting at Rob’s place, that is a closer spot for me to go to rather than PDC or La Crosse.
-
Looks like the bolts were for height adjustment maybe. Say you wanted the bumper to be higher or lower once it was mounted up. Or for shipping it, unbolt the brackets and it would be an easier item to ship around. Looks like a good sandblasting and you’ll have a nice example of a tube bumper there.
-
Great score, this is what it’s all about!
-
I don’t know if I have ever seen a picture of the factory tube bumper, does anyone here have one on their truck? I have seen it referneced in the parts books, that’s it.
-
Still interested in learning more about the driveline on that truck of yours. 4 or 6 cyl? Manual/Automatic?
-
How did you get the trusses up there, rent a lift of some sort? Really taking shape now and looking good!

Agreed. -
Certain that this one is crushed. Drove by the yard the other day and it is cleaned out, no longer in operation.

I have a honey plate but no clips currently on eBay, I’d be happy to complete the sale for less than advertised so I don’t end up paying fees to eBay. 1983-1993 Jeep Wagoneer Jeep Comanche Jeep Cherokee Visor Clips and Trays MJ XJ Thanks!

Need to get your roof on there Ben, do you have the trusses on site? Steel roof like the drawings show, yes? Looking good so far, congrats!
-
I don’t get it. I just put my stuff in the bed.

La Crosse will be about a 3 hour ride from my place. Too far to ride in the MJ for a day trip. Right now I’m thinking I might bring the whole family along on this, be good to take the kids to a car show for a day... Toss out wants/desires for anything MJ related that you might need. I do have some big parts that I could bring on a trailer. PDC would be a 2 hour ride for me. I know the area fairly well. If it becomes an option again we can discuss it further. Have not told the wife yet, I reserve the right to let her decide if I can come or not!

What diameter do they need to be to fit? How nice of condition are you looking for? I think I have some with dents/clear coat peeling that I'd sell for a few bucks plus shipping.

That weekend is currently free for me.

‘86 Part Out - Central Iowa
500 MJ replied to 500 MJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I talked to the seller a bit this morning, scrap prices seemed to be something he was interested in selling the carcass for. Seems he just wants it all gone in one transaction. -
Found this on Facebook marketplace. The seller is looking to get rid of what is left of the truck. Not much there but it appears to have some good steel for rust repair areas on the wheel arches and rocker panels. Bed has been cut at the back and has no tailgate, tail lights, etc. Trans and T-case still there, tilt column (looks like it is) axles, etc. Too far of a trip for me to get the parts that remain. Hopefully someone else locally can snag what’s left of it.

Sept 21 is also a no go for me. I’m in Minneapolis that weekend for business. PDC is a 2 hour drive due west for me. I go there for work often as our railroad track runs into town, it’s the end of our rail line thanks to the Mississippi. That would be a fun spot to meet.
-
SW Wisconsin is not far for me at all. I'd be interested, but we'd need to get a date set so I can adequately plan for it.
-
WOW that is clean!
-
Smooth transaction and good communication, thanks!
-
I work for a railroad. Derailments suck.
-
What he said... I’ve got a good selection of OEM ones. Let me know what you are looking for and I’ll see if I have them. They came in black, dark gray and chrome as well as painted to match the body color...

Time to get caught up. “Big Rusty” is getting used more these days, almost splitting time evenly with the ‘90 MJ. I took the truck in to the shop in the spring and had the belt tensioner, fuel filter and coil connector all replaced. The belt tensioner took care of the squeaky serp belt. The coil connector was the item that was causing me the grief stalling out whenever it wanted to. Fuel filter required the special quick disconnect tool to do. There is no way I would have diagnosed the issue with that coil connector. Took the shop 45 minutes to solve the problem. Glad I had them do it! I have not yet dropped the pan on the trans but I have the new filter and lots of fluid for when I do. I’ve been pulling fluid out with a transfer pump 7 quarts at a time through the dipstick tube and it still isn’t close to pink. The clean fluid is helping for sure, shifts smoother for longer periods before going into limp mode each time I reset trans computer. Getting better but nowhere near finished with this fiasco yet. Drivers front brake caliper is hanging up and the blower motor resistor has tossed in the towel. Looks like the front gas tank has a minor leak going now too. More items to fix when the chance comes, just dealing with them for now, they add character to the old beast. Truck is hauling lots of heavy wood for me, doing what I bought it for. Fun to drive, wish it was a manual trans though :)
