  1. My Eagle also has KYBs. They’ve been good on them and they’re also inexpensive.
  2. I think this issue might be because you hadn’t posted yet. Now that you’ve got one post, you should be able to PM people. I believe it’s to prevent spam.
  3. I like that a lot!
  4. He did do very well with it
  5. Mine looks the most like the middle one, but I’m not sure what year it was bought. It was used when it went in my truck.

Best MJ story- Sibling rivalry and why i share these 2 MJ's. My brother and I have grown over the years competing on who can do it better. Its been 15 years of back and forth jeep mods and customization. From lift height, suspension setup, tire size, wheeling armor/protection and also as of recently the drivetrain. He committed to go the LS swap route to overcome his in-ability to pick a logical wheeling line over obstacles * snarky sarcasm ;). I suppose i make the obstacles look too easy for him. Now not only would he make the obstacles but he would also trump me in the power dept and sexy exhaust noise dept as well for that matter. The only flaw was that once he completed his swap and bought a brand new set of taller tires (formerly on 37' tires - went to 39.5 Iroks) I also went a step further and bought myself a new set of tires. Formerly on a set of 37" bias Iroks i went to a set of 39.5" Irok stickies. I knew i couldn't compete with his drivetrain swap on my 4.0 But thinking Smarter Not Harder my matched size tires would even out and the sticky compound would level the field. I would also not have to work as hard in the rocks which was a bonus! He was befuddled to learn the dramatic benefits of the sticky tires! Also how he essentially spent 2x as much money to now go half the distance and work just as hard as before to do it. When he dug his heels in on the greatness of his LS swap and its dramatic power gain over mine i had an opportunity come my way that would again settle the argument of who can do it better. A fellow Jeep enthusiast I met on Facebook over a discussion about ARB Bull bars and MJ tailgates had built and sold this truck. We had recently connected at a yearly jeep event and began talking about how his truck was yet again up for sale. At this point it had been several years and also through several different owners since the original sale. We chuckled at how it was remarkably still seemingly in it original build form. There was some subtle encouragement for me to consider buying it... Which ultimately worked because after a conversation with my brother about hauling it for me -my truck was down at the time i made a deal with the seller and brought it home! All the while on the 14hr road trip to bring the truck home we laughed and joked and i never let him forget that his LS swap argument was over. He never fully agreed with me and my angle but the facts are there - i not only have him covered in the wheeling rig department with a proven ability to concur more difficult obstacles but i now also had an LS swapped jeep - a Comanche and also an Orange one at that! They are clearly superior to the XJ in nearly every way anyways. the rivalry and arguments still continue to this day... CC is Awesome! Why? Its the community of shared MJ interests. Big and small, stock and modified, cherished and abused. Its all here for display and conversation. I prefer the forums vs the social media source groups. There is just something else to it that regards my respect, patience and interest.
  7. More progress on this truck too. A modern hood release with a cable going inside the cab has been installed along with a filler panel to clean things up. Some front suspension parts have been picked up to from a closing advance auto parts store.
  8. Found a little bit of rust in the right side rocker panel of the 83. It’s only the rear half of the outer and a tiny spot of the inner. We figured this rusted because the rear drains in the rocker got plugged when the truck was rustproofed. The inner patch just got welded in, hopefully the outer patch will be done soon too. And the orange truck (I think) will eventually be getting a chrome pig nose grille someday. We just need to get it from Tucson to WI.

Looks like a pretty solid one. The bed looks very fixable too.
  10. What do you use the truck for and what are your roads like when you drive? I like Monroe’s OE line and they’re not too pricey either.
  11. The company that I wanted to do it ended up closing when the owner passed away. I can’t do it yet, but hopefully in the next two years I can start on this project again
  12. I’d think it would be easier to pull it out the bottom.
  13. If you can, post up a few pictures of your steering and we can see if anything looks bent. One from the front and another from either the top or bottom and the side.
  14. When welding in patch panels, round all of the corners. This will help spread the heat out and prevent warping at the corners.
  15. Something is definitely screwed up in that front end if anything is adjusted to the maximum. Id figure out what parts need replacing and replace only those. NOS or Moog would be my recommendations as Moog is (or at least was) made in the USA
  16. I average about 15 with a mix of driving in town and on country roads. My best tank ever was just shy of 20 mpg, running about 75 mph, but it was highway only. No towns, no stoplights, just cruising in 5th gear. I’ve got a 4.0, AX15, 4.10s, and 31s. My tires do seem to be on the harder side, which helps.
  17. I look forward to the pictures. Glad you made it back and that it was smooth sailing.
  18. What about ones for an XJ axle? If you can find those, they would definitely be the same. I’d assume all D35 parts would interchange.
  19. That sounds about right, but more information would be nice. What trans do you have? Tire size? Gear ratios? What is your driving style?
  20. Are you going to try to get a part off of it if you’ll be in Michigan any time soon?
  21. I also saw the black trim. Even the grille is upside down though.
  22. Glad to hear things are going well. I’m 8 miles north of the West Salem, WI exit. If you need a hand with anything around there, feel free to drop me a PM.
