I wonder if the leaking past the splines is a common issue with this style of transfer case. I had the same issue with the rear of my 128 and went through a few seals in the rear before giving up and living with the leak. I didn't add any silicone to the splines though the second time.

That is super weird. I can’t say that I blame you there, I don’t care for the cold weather at all.

If I were to guess, your idle speed should be somewhere around 900 rpm. I’d also recommend cleaning up the throttle body. Best part about cleaning up the TB will be bringing it inside since it’s cold out haha. Here’s a thread on cleaning it and the IAC. Thank you for the kind words! If you think my Eagle is cool, you should check out Eagle_SX4’s car. I’m thinking the rolling could just be it getting jostled to where there is contact at the NSS. Good thinking on the vac lines and TB stuff. If I recall correctly, we didn’t think it was flooding because it would seem like the issue would be worse after the engine was just run. The no start condition seems to happen when it’s sat overnight.

I’d also start with flushing the core, especially if the air does change direction.

Ok, the cranking rpm in the video sounds about right, maybe a little on the slow side, but definitely quick enough for it to start. I agree that it could be the NSS. Maybe pull that and clean it and both sides of the connector. Check out the wiring too, make sure there are no damaged spots on the NSS part of the harness, that sort of thing. occasionally stalling in traffic unless it’s in neutral makes me wonder about the idle speed. Have you touched the idle screw on the throttle body ever? Do you have a rough idea of what it idles at?

Seems like a bit of a pain to work on. But I’m sure it’s so much fun to drive that it’s worth it having to work on.

Did something happen to the hood on it? Or is this because the hood on it has figment issues?

Yes, Navy is a complete pain to try to find parts for. I've been searching for a set of Navy buckets for a couple of years. It was an 88-89 only interior color, I believe. I think replacing the floors correctly is definitely the way to go.

I saw that Newcomer Racing has come out with roller camshafts for 4.0s. Not at all cheap, but sure beats having to build an engine with a flat tappet cam twice with the poor quality of new flat tappet lifters. Looks like they have the same offerings as their flat tappet cams. For anyone interested: https://www.newcomerracing.com/store/p49/Billet_Roller_Cam_and_Lifter_Kits_4.0_4.2_Jeep_AMC.html#/

Is that a run? Just kidding, looks great! -
Well, let’s see some pictures of it today then! Very cool that you won it and kept it so long. That front air dam seems very interesting.

Comanches and an Eagle sported in David Freiburger’s new video. Around the 51-52 minute mark. Looks like the one that’s not in the picture has a factory Sportbar.

Those are probably the worst shocks I’ve ever seen. And I’ve removed shocks that came out in two pieces haha

That sounds right, but I was thinking that you might be able to get them on eBay too. I haven’t needed one (yet), so I’m not 100% sure.

Gotcha. That makes sense. I’ve been liking my 8.25. I get why people recommend them now. -

Didn’t this truck originally have a D44? Why’d you run an 8.25 instead? -
I do! One of these years I’ll need to head up to EJS with my MJ

I believe it’s MTS that makes the sending unit.

Sorry to hear about your mom and the situation.

Those might not add a ton of value, but I think a buyer would be very excited to have those. Now I don't know your situation at all , but I would probably think about keeping it if I were you. I'd put a hitch on it and just use it as a truck when needed, but not as a daily driver to help keep the miles low. Maybe take it to the occasional car show too. It would cost probably $40,000+ to replace this with a new truck, and this is almost new. I also think that it will appreciate more in the next few years. That truck has probably nearly doubled in value since its been in your possession. That said, if you already have a truck and don't need this one, it doesn't make much sense to keep it around. -

That is a nice one. Hard to put a price on it without more information though. Does it have the 6cyl or the 4cyl? Which rear axle does it have? Does it have any of the original paperwork, like the window sticker? It looks like a relatively well optioned truck with some cool accessories too. Location is another factor when it comes to value. A rust free truck up north is going to be more valuable than a rust free truck down south. Being that this truck is up north, it might be worth more if it’s truly rust free, but you also will have buyers worried about rust. I’d guess it’s worth somewhere between 15 and 20k, depending on location and options. If you want to get top dollar, a Bring A Trailer auction is the way to go. -
