crossmember and trans mount HELP
89 MJ replied to livinjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The AX-15 crossmember is supposed to be roughly 1/2” lower in the center than the other transmissions. -
I would lean towards it being the headlight switch or a bad contact somewhere then. When you have the headlights on and you rotate the knob, that is your instrument light dimmer.
-
What happens when you rotate the headlight knob?

Advice Needed: Internal-External Slave Cyl Swap on AX-4
89 MJ replied to NickyV's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Correct. I think. I’m not a 2.5L expert haha. This is correct. You will need to find the parts, which can be tricky. That’s said, they don’t seem to really have any issues, so I don’t think you need to worry about much breaking. -
How much does it bounce? Some of it will just be the nature of having a speedo cable. You could go with the boxy Jeep electric speedo conversion. https://boxyjeep.com/products/87-90-electric-speedometer-conversion-full-kit?variant=50337911210295

Advice Needed: Internal-External Slave Cyl Swap on AX-4
89 MJ replied to NickyV's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Some of this depends on what year external slave stuff you’re after. The 84-86 XJs were also external slave. This thread might help you a little bit if you’re interested in going the early route: -
Rockauto MJ magnet

Must be gone already -
That could be a good price, depending on the quality of the work.
-
It is a metal tag. Should be near the driver side hood hinge.
-
I’m not saying for sure that is the issue, but it could’ve slipped and might be at least partially responsible.
-
Yup, that needs replacing because of the cracks.

If the rubber in the balancer is cracked, it needs replacing.

Fey Westin 63000 Bumper Review?
89 MJ replied to Salvagedcircuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That’s a shame that it wasn’t nice. Going to try to get another one? Or going a different route with the rear bumper? -
More pictures of the cab after blasting and ready for primer. The firewall did not get blasted because it is going to get smoothed.

The rim on that eBay one doesn't even look like it was the right color. Looks like it was very bright. Hopefully you can find a good one.
-
I think you might have to make them. The metal door handles were 84-86 only if I remember right. I’m not sure if all of the chrome ones were metal or not, but I doubt that anyone makes the gaskets for them.

I think since 2020, parts have constantly been backordered, increasing in price, poor quality, and every company has terrible customer service. My dad ordered a full trunk floor for his 64 Chevelle 2 years ago when the company was doing a free shipping promotion on everything and it hasn't shipped and they just keep making excuses. It's the exact same price for every 64-67 Chevelle, Cutlass, Skylark, and Tempest/Lemans/GTO. He ordered a Holley Sniper from another car. Installed it per Holley's instructions and it will kill the battery within a week. Talked to Holley, sent the unit back to them, they said its normal and there is nothing wrong with it. It's a $2,000 system that isn't any better than a carburetor. And Holley owns a ton of companies too, all of which have gone down in quality. For the most part anymore, if I need an OEM type replacement part, I'll shop on Rock Auto because it always has the cheapest prices. Any other part I need, I look for either a used one if I can't make it myself, or I'll build it, depending on what it is.

Those look great!

REM installed and seeking translations

I can never remember if Bosch is the good one or NTK was the good one. Disregard the first part of my previous statement. Get an NTK.
