Alright. Here’s a quick how to repaint your emblems back to how they left the factory. If your nameplate looks like this from the 30 years it has been in service then it’s time for a fresh repaint. here's what I went and did with this. I took the nameplate and cleaned it. Then I used flat black and spray painted the whole nameplate like this: I found this easier to do instead of masking off each letter to achieve a perfect paint all around and inside the letters. I let it dry after applying the paint for about and hour or so in the hot sun(for you states who don’t know what the sun looks like, let it set longer). After the paint is good and dry, I took a scotchbrite pad and just scrubbed the paint off of the letters to achieve the look of this: Follow up with a good coat of clear or two and you got yourself a new looking nameplate. I did try this on a few other nameplates before attempting the Comanche nameplate to be sure I’d achieve good results.

You’ll have to get a whole new cable assembly. The cover/guide is not sold separately. Never has been. 4897728AA is the last part number used on the XJ MJ platform for the speedo cable.

Curious. Have you taken out the right head light and tested it to see if the high beam gets power to it? It’s possible that just the low beam works but the high could not be.

Lol. It’s worth it. I cleaned them up with vinegar. Then used primer(optional) with flat black.

I think I have always been a stickler for detail. I can't just leave well enough alone at all on Little Red. So I painted some screws! Now I'm not sure how detailed our trucks were when they left the factory but I can't help to feel that maybe the screws that held the door handles in place were black at one point. can't confirm that. So the screws got painted black to "blend" in more. It was at this point I realized the handle buckets are faded and no longer black like they used to be(thanks AZ sun). So I replaced 5 of the six screws (left one for an example)with ones I painted from new handle assemblies I got from AMC salvage to replace my worn out handles. I like the black screws. Hides the fact that the handles are held in by screws from afar. Here's the old ones for comparison: I also detailed the vents(I can get a picture later) back to factory silver. I noticed more trucks that have the chrome trim dash bezels also have the chrome/silver trim painted on the vents. I'm sure the AZ heat and sun obliterated the paint, but I found faint traces of the silver paint so score!

2.) There’s roughly about 696 Comanche VINs currently registered, maybe less. (Quick math was done based on how many posts were on just one page multiplied by the pages in the registry.) Probably 15% of them are or were in junk yards. That’s incredibly low number compared to the number produced. So there’s probably more out there that are tucked away or long gone from time. Who knows how many were totaled out before the existence of this site and where they all went. They are disappearing faster than the California condor and we could be looking at less Comanches each day due to people not knowing what they have.

Is even any skid plate made anymore for our trucks? Oh hell, a skid plate is a skid plate. Still nice to get a skid plate for the front if you are looking for front protection. kinda odd to advertise it as OEM but whatever. Glad to have payed less than what they were asking.

Neat! 87, I will keep your uncles in my mind as I go through the day. Eagle, it truly is amazing we even pulled off that landing. Britain was highly against another sea based invasion after what happened at Gallipoli and Churchill had a hard time living that down. It took our generals to convince Britain to aid in the operation.

Now I know y’all probably have very little info about who I am and what my likes are. Well here’s one of them. I’m a huge history buff and WWII fan. Well today 75 years ago the brave men and some women who enlisted under the allies landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th 1944 to liberate France from the clutches of the Third Reich. Some might know this but there were three other operations along side overlord. Neptune, Bodyguard and fortitude. Neptune was the largest seaborn invasion since the landings of Gallipoli in WWI. Fortitude was the operation to safe guard the D-day landings information from the Nazis and bodyguard was the operation that pissed off Gen. Patton and used him along with the inflatable decoys to fool the nazis into a land invasion that will occur in Belgium. Today we shall remember and honor what all those men and women did on that day and the life they gave to ensure the world would not be in the fist of the Third Reich.

Check the screw connections on the gauge itself. I have a gauge right now(not in the truck) that won’t read because one of the copper wires broke off at the connection.

Oddly enough I am sort of digging the bumper delete.

Does that black sportruck in that poster not have a rear bumper?
