No problem at all! What do you mean by resto? We all swear by OEM on here due to aftermarket stuff being crap and flimsy when it comes to body parts. But theres a lot on here that youll learn about these unique trucks. Biggest thing is everything from the door ends to the rear bumper are MJ specific.

Night Eagle reminds me of that "Night Hawk" Concept in the accessories catalog.

Smoke from wiper stalk...
eaglescout526 replied to MontanaManche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you have intermittent wipers? -
I have not checked for voltage....yet. Whats weird is I experience the same issue as Wahoo with intermittent working great(which rules out the corrosion in the box) but low and high just flat out suck for speed and drag. My next thing I was going to do was bypass the box and see if anything changes and rule in that perhaps there is corrosion in the governor that isnt allowing voltage to pass through the box.
-
Yes. An Arizonan is concerned with how fast his wiper blades move. Lol. Anyways it’s been on my mind for quite sometime but not enough to address it. My question is, how fast does your blades move and what have you done to help them move fast in say a rough down pour? I’ve done everything I could think to the wiper system, added a ground to the motor, replaced the linkage bushings, lubed them up too, cleaned all electrical contacts and feel they are still slow. Now it could be just me expecting 30 year old wiper system to work like modern wipers, but for those of you guys have owned yours since new or know about the wipers, had they always been kinda slow and so the blades commonly drag a bit?
-
P4529229AD is available one left for $264 list. Wow I’ll have to look at my 90 catalog and see if part numbers are different.
-
I’d have to pull out my 90 performance catalog and find the part numbers and check those prices. They weren’t terribly expensive. Actually they were a bit affordable.
-
I think there’s some MoPar performance cams still left if you want to go that route.
-
Wait? You didn’t know about these boxes? Yeah you can find them in XJWs and SJs. Also GM vehicles have them too but I do not know how compatible they are. Whichever one has power. I’ll have to snap a pic of where I plugged mine in at. These boxes are very interesting. They require two power sources. One from the lamp circuit and the other is straight power. I’ll have to play with it more later to confirm some of my thoughts.
-
Those are found in XJ Wagoneers and SJs. They chime rather than buzz which makes your Jeep sound a bit more modern than the buzzer. I have one in my MJ and XJ.

Looks good. On your VIN plate thats probably on the radiator support(86 thing) there should be a simple two to three letter(or number) code that should be stamped on it. Like for 86 3B is Sebring red. Later years would be like BE which is Colorado Red and PX(or X8, it gets confusing in the Chrysler years) would be Classic Black Something like that.
-
The Chrysler Automatic and if it really has a engine block heater. But other than that, Chrysler lost alot of AMC data so we usually say take the list with a grain of salt as most prior to 88 are incomplete and missing info, like notice how there are no paint codes listed? Youll have to indulge us deeper into your truck and we can help identify rare options. Other than that, welcome to the club! Everyone is gonna bug ya about pics and a build thread.

1987 4 cyl MJ Rough running condition
eaglescout526 replied to jeepogeek's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nah, you can keep adding to this thread because it’s still a fuel problem so you can change your title to reflect the issue as a whole. As for the tank, put a jack under it, loosen the nuts on the J bolts to the frame and have at. It’s pretty easy to do. Some will say to remove the driveshaft, I have never hard to when lowing the tank but some guys like it removed for the complete and total room there is to work. -
Lol it’s probably marginally better. Re-arsenaled Mosins, that’s funny. But yet they are hell of a rifle. Course finding 7.62x54R is a challenge these days.
-
Not that its really something to look at, but it is a good reminder that you can find a good GM 3 spoke wheel style that you like and put the Renix style button on it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1980s-Jeep-3-Spoke-Black-Steering-Wheel-AMC-Vintage/373268723886?hash=item56e88cb8ae:g:k2wAAOSwDNxfg7py Have yourself a rare Jeep-vette.
-
Yup! Thats a good indicator that the door check has been disintegrated into pieces like the one you found.
-
GT denotes 86 in the last 8 of the VIN. If you look at the running board in the front, youll see a flap, it should have a chrome Jeep embossed in it. Usually the factory ones have those and an end cap to round it off and make it look clean. The after markets do not. Funny history on those is they were optional aftermarket pieces for the Wagoneer and J-trucks but were later sold as official accessories by AMC.
-
Lol, I missed the last sentence where he mentions me. If you can go back to that yard and if that MJ has both running boards and the cargo light it is said to havem it would be hell of bonus to your score!

Those running boards need to be snagged too! Those are factory accessories and especially since they go to the bed. Ohhh Id love to have those over the ones I have.
