1987 4 cyl MJ Rough running condition
eaglescout526 replied to jeepogeek's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When a sensor goes out of spec, the ECU will make the engine act up. Otherwise no these engines run really solid. -

Factory Service Manual is the way to go for all repairs. The TBI book I mentioned that you got will greatly help diag the rich situation as will an REM. The TPS can be out of wack and causing it to run rich. Check the vacuum lines to the MAP sensor on the firewall. If any of them are cracked or damaged, the MAP will feel the loss of vacuum power from the intake and dump fuel into the engine thinking it is starving for fuel. The TBI book will help you out greatly with the sensors and what their specs should be. -
Probably has to do with how much it can carry. Not sure if that code is for Metric-ton package or not.

Lol YJ I understand why. The front axle is still supported by leaf springs. The JKU is just bigger.

Might be right about this, still have some mystery vibrations going on, not sure if its because 30 year old truck or something else to replace that I can't seem to pinpoint on replacement. I find my long bed incredibly easier to park than say a full size truck. I would imagine short beds are a quick easy turn in.

TPS adjustment sounds to be in order. The TBI book will tell you how to do that and its specs on where you want it to be in terms of voltage output to the ECU. NGK plugs are fine. -
Well done on the cut.

Awesome! They're good but time consuming but worth it.

I know its been a bit since my frosted flake chicken post but has anyone else besides 89 MJ tried it?

Chunk, A 1984 XJ
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Nope, been gathering NOS parts and such. I am looking at hopefully May for chunk to come and reside here. That's if everything goes to plan. -
Currently working with @CoastChief on these(he offered to help). He's currently busy with life, making moldings and other top secret stuff. Supposedly my sister knows someone but I have not asked her yet. Trust me, I have some labels that should be reproduced too like the VIN barcode labels on the radiator support.

91' 2.5L Comanche electrical issues
eaglescout526 replied to juliette's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Oof, 91 2.5L, out of my forte. But all I can offer is cruisers tips like above, check your grounds, improve those grounds and move from there with diagnosing and probing some wires for power and such. -

I never ever EVER thought I would see an automotive blurb mention the N64.

Couldnt we make something today using the modern tech we have to fit in those little housings? I mean I find it odd that the modules got bigger as time went on until full integration into the ECU but I have an HO module and the board it long and skinny and I have been searching for something that would just fit into the XJ housing.
-
The chips in the remotes and the chips in the module need to have matching numbers. Otherwise no there really isnt a way to pair them. If I had to take an absolute educated guess, the chips were probably coded with numbers via an EPROM machine or something like that. A lot of this info from the AMC|Jeep era is lost to time and not a lot of info was shared nor documented unless someone worked for the vendor or for Jeep. Renault was the company that first started the keyless entry fad and there might be more info from them but I did a quick search a while back and got nothing back.

Youtube works just as well lol.

Those are iOS format videos. 89, might I suggest sending the videos to either OneDrive or goggle drive and share the link with us. Usually works best for nonstandard video formats and becomes more friendly to view on all platforms.
