4.5 inch lift kit question
Swampy replied to Huntinjeep243's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 2 kits are exactly the same, if they even specify 2wd vs. 4wd. Or should I say the suspension set ups on 2wd's and 4wd's are the same so go right ahead -
The only ones I can think of are fj40s and early first gen rangers
-
That is definitely drool worthy. I know what I am dreaming off tonight
-
Mine is a swb

Like Pete said. My mj has roughly 6" of lift and it does just fine. At least when I have driven it
-
Still would recommend a pipe cutter?

4.5" coils and s.o.a lift with 33" tires.
Swampy replied to JeepDreamer26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 2.5+3.55 gears+ 5spd = going no where fast. Driving it on the road with the 36s I can't get it out of 3rd gear or it falls on its face. I can only go about 45mph but that'll all be fixed here shortly after a regear and it should be drivable after that. And as far as rubbing I have had no issues. My lift is 6" currently and there is no rub at full lock turning in either direction, to avoid rubbing wheel backspacing and offset play a huge roll. The small amount of flexing I have been able to do because of my open diffs has yielded no rubbing either. We shall see once its locked and I can get it twisted pretty well. -
Already got a set. thank you tho

Thanks for all the help guys. I got a full power steering setup from a member here out of a 4.0l mj. Should arrive at my house by Wednesday.

I have an np242 that is out of an 88 4.0 xj. 21 spline. We can work something out shipping might be a bear

I have been wondering whether to move up from a 4.5 coil to a 5.5 or 6.5 but look at your I might be leaning towards the 5.5

4.5" coils and s.o.a lift with 33" tires.
Swampy replied to JeepDreamer26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did the same thing, 4.5 coil upfront and soa with 2wd leaves in the back. I had to get a 1.5 coil spacer to level it out pretty nicely maybe even some squat. My next move will be a 6.5" coil to rid of the spacer and an add-a-leaf or extended shackels for the rear Here is my truck on 36s total lift is right around 6" -
Definitely the crop cut

Thanks means a lot. It definitely has come a long way. hoping to get the last little bit done this summer -
Great progress so far and I love the motivation behind it. I can't to see what you get done maybe we can plan a trip to moab in 2020
-
I can deal with the spacing out part, if it worked was my main concern
-
Is it a 3 bolt system? Can you post some pics?

With my jeep being away from me at the moment. This is the best picture I got to show the belt routing I know its not great. I will try to draw it and get it uploaded tomorrow

renix tbi 2.5. Walt told me I could fit a 4.0l pump
-
Hey guys looking for some 2.5l or (if I can retrofit some renix 4.0l) power steering equipment. I am looking for everything preferably, but will consider just the pump, hoses, and fluid reservoir. If anyone has one, or has leads about one, please contact me

Still lots of little things that have to get done but oh well. -
That's tempting. I was planning on doing to get rid of the factory one on the passenger fender. But that's not going to happen till I do the headlight harness too
