"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
For the most part the comanche is done for now! I love the way it came out. Still have plenty of things to do like gears, lockers, fender flares, bigger tires etc but main fundamental Also got a tool box from Walt, it could use a coat of paint but I love it And when I look at the before and after pictures I am surprisingly amazed -
It looks amazing. This and the zone offroad comanche are my build goals. Curious as to how the swaybar would would affect suspension travel?

NP231s from later years
Swampy replied to crumbscomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can swap the speedo setups I am assuming, cable to electric and vise versa. If you can't that would explain why my speedo doesnt work at the moment -
Its an informative video but the windshield is sealed separately from the trim. Like my truck had the metal trim around the windshield, I'm trying to replace the metal trim for a rubber trim
-
I'm going to give this another go tomorrow, maybe I can get something to work

2wd to 4wd conversion/ 2wd-4wd lift difference?
Swampy replied to Comanchenoob's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
2wd to 4wd conversion is bolt on, not much too it. If you are handy with a set of tools and get the right pieces its easy. -
I read through the DIY writeup and he installed the rubber with the windshield out of the vehicle. I thought since its "trim" and the windshield has sealant already that the trim was seperate. Or an I mistaken?

Hey guys, i got the rubber windshield trim to get rid of the metal one with clips. I wanted to know of any tips and tricks to get it imstalled right. Also what sealant did anyone use?

Spring over or spring under
Swampy replied to Pannicthrottle's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The basic difference is with sua the leaf springs sit under the axle and with soa the leaf springs sit on top of the axle. With soa you get more lift cheaper but you have to set your pinion angle correctly or you are going to have problems with your driveline. With sua it is better for keeping your center of gravity low. -
I have a 2.5l as well and I got my aluminum valve cover from a 2.5l wrangler. You are going to need longer bolts as the factory ones for the plastic cover aren't long enough and as far as the ventilation works this how I did mine below. Here is mine after I painted and installed the valve cover the ventilation towards the front/side is where your vacuum line goes and the one in the back/top is where the blow-by goes to your intake but I just put a little filter on mine. Not the best because you do get some little bit of oil on the cover, and any water crossings could end up with water in the oil Here this link has the size of the bolts you need http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/engine/1701-jeep-2-5l-i-4-engine-plastic-valve-cover-fix/

ACOS- its basically an adjustable coil spring spacers that lets you exactly dial in what you want

If you are just wanting to swap to external slave on ax15 behind a 4.0l as far as my understanding is concerned any ax15 external slave bell housing that came behind the 4.0l would work
-
Yeah pretty much what Pete said. You are going to need control arms, a new track bar, longer shocks, longer brake lines, a new driveshaft, swaybar endlinks and depending how you want your truck to look, either new leaf packs for the rear or shackles of some sort.

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Mostly because I swapped the exhaust manifold and I had to plug the bottom of the manifold and there wasnt really any use for the valve in my opinion. -
i love it too. it looks awesome. good job man

Would an ax15/np231 work for your needs? I just have an 8.25 (essentially a d44) My rear driveshaft was 45" center to center after the soa in the rear

The o2 sensor is hooked up in that picture, I guess they are just random plugs -
It looks great, almost to good to be a woods truck

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Almost 10 months to date and phase one of this build is virtually complete. It brings a tear to my eye seeing how far I have come, and how much I have learned. I still have a bit to do like fender flares, windshield trim, speedo, windshield wipers, stickers, gaskets/seals, steering/alignment etc but all the major stuff is checked off. I just got it back together today fully painted. It could look better but from 10ft away it looks amazing I got my tail lights mounted, painted my rear bumper, and did the egr delete. Looks amazing from this distance EGR DELETE: the only thing I don't know is what to do with the vaccum line that went to that valve on the intake The lose plugs I don't know where they go, any help is appreciated Refinishing the front emblem -
Smart on your move to fold the front lip of the fender under like that. makes me wish I would have done something like that

Swampy replied to OLDsquaw's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Wow didnt think it was as simple as this. Definitely opens up the door option possibilities -

It should be. I don't know how to read that scale so I can't verify. But as far as that mount goes I though I would be able to use it as well but the answer is no. A lot of the trucks are different from one another and i was able to put put the rubber mount on the bottom of the ax15 and get it into the front 2 crossmember holes without any modification
