I do not own this comanche but i saw the video on youtube and believed it needed a special spot. Trying to get in contact with the owner to have him on the forums. I believe he is in Las Vegas

Swampy replied to 1988gecko's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I have to say the fab work is great. Wish i had the skills. But I do like the bright green paint scheme for the comanche -
If its not broken there is no need. I removed mine because the egr solenoid was broken

Dang I will keep this in mind. I swapped in a new harness, I'm guessing my computer is fried. -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

Yeah right now it seems like this is going to be the plan of action, I could try to find a 2.5 computer but I'm worried that i will track down a computer hook everything up and it still won't work and I will just be chasing issues. So I decided to start with a clean slate and drop in a different power plant. I appreciate the kind words, right now searching for a job to start saving my pennies. -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

Its been a while since the last update, hope everyone is doing well with the state of the country right now and corona virus. But I am not sure what to do with my MJ. I got everything wired up and I can't get it spark or start up. It cranks and cranks just no start. I am pretty sure the ecu is fried from the whole fire incident. I am thinking of scrapping this whole 2.5l and swapping in an LS v8. I wanted not swap anything in but it seems to be the easier route and I'd get more power, drive-ability and less headaches out of the 'ol mj. I priced out the whole swap and its about 5-6 thousand dollars. Seems reasonable for the performance you get. I will eventually swap out the front axle as well because d30+5.13 gears+LS don't seem like a good mix -
Might be taking the mj build in another direction...

The 2 cps sensors I have both read under .5 Vac. one was .3 and the other was .4. I threw the .4 one in the jeep with no luck. Leads me to believe the ecu is fried from the fire as well.

I have been following this build and my friends and I love all the work that's going into. I can't wait to see it all finished and put together

What a build and story. Seemed like a good hunt. Looks like some nice mule deer, or are they whitetails?- 32 replies

I will try that. thanks

Tested for resistance got 247

The cps is good no shorts, the contacts are clean. I just pulled apart the ICM cleaned the contacts there as well. Still trying to figure it out
-
The cps is good. it might be the ignition control module or the ecu. Is there a way to test the ecu to make sure it's still good?
-
Jeep is cranking, it's got fuel but still no start. there is no spark. going to check the cps and the ignition control module
-
I might just do that. I guess it helps I don't have a radio

You know more of this than I do. Also I had asked a fellow member a few months back if I should get a new ecu because I wasn't sure if the fire had fired the ecu as well I will do this now. Question- if its the on/off switch for the fuel pump that isnt working... could I wire an actual switch and control the fuel pump manually?
-
I got 0Ω's between the 2 connectors
-
Yes the fuel pump runs with the jumper wire from Pin_2 to ground and key on
-
block pin_5 is reading 11.11 volts
-
With jumper wire between the pins, fuel pump is running and d1_6 is reading 11.8volts
-
No I did not. I guess I am trying to skip steps before finding the real issue.

The terminals look good. I'm trying to remove that undercoating stuff, I did see a small amount of corrosion on one of the terminals
-
From the top of the block. there is no corrosion, from the bottom there is some of that black tar junky stuff
