  1. Just to chime in which 4 hole injectors fit the 4.0? Ones off a mustang I have heard or the ones from an explorer?
  2. It is a process. It well be good once its done, I'm about a week from completion just waiting for flywheel bolts because I thought I had the right ones. Oh well
  3. THIS is awesome. Reminds me of the school buses people turn into toy haulers
  4. So far I am really enjoying this 96 swap. It is going really smoothly as it is 95% bolt in. Its not 100% bolt in are there are a few holes that have to be drilled. I think this is the easier "97+ swap" if you do not care about having the updated interior. I will drop a playlist of videos I am making as I am doing this engine swap. Today I swapped in the obd2 steering column, 96 dash, dash harness, fuse panel and I pulled the interior harness/tail light harness.
  5. Might do just that. Is there a write up in the DIY section?
  6. Today I got some more things done Finished pulling the dash harness, hvac box and interior pieces from the xj. May have gone a little over board with the marking of connectors but I just wanted this swap to be as easy as possible. Lastly I got the prize out of the xj, the 4.0l motor. I also swapped the frame horns and hvac box into Wendy. working on grass in a non shaded backyard is not easy but I can't wait to have the comanche up and running again.
  7. Yup I am planning on that. The xj I currently have has a dual booster. I was trying to get off the brake lines from the proportioning valve and they wouldn't budge even with line wrenches.
  8. South Florida this time of year is killer. I try to wake up early to beat the heat but at 9:30 am its already 90 with 90-100% humidity. I wish I could work all night but my neighbors would hate me.
  9. Wow that is a clean interior. I am speechless
  10. Thank you.
  11. What do you use for flywheel bolts. I believe the 4.0 flexplate to crank bolts are shorter than the flywheel to crank bolts. Do any 4.0l flywheel bolts work as long as its 1/2"-20 thread?
  12. Painted the engine bay as I figured since most things are out of the way. This is the cleanest this engine bay will ever be lol.
  13. Which connectors are the ones being referenced in this write up? Are they the ones behind the kick panel on the driver side? I am planning on keeping the xj fuel sending unit and fuel pump. How do I wire only the tail lights??
  14. Well my jeep will joining the 200k plus club once I finish the 4.0 swap.
  15. So far I have removed the full interior, interior harness, hvac box, engine, underhood harness, and washed the engine bay. Also removed the frame horns for the 2.5l engine mounts and need to remove the brake booster to install the xj dual diaphram booster. Videos documenting the swap progess --->> 4.0l swap chronicles Engine out (jeep went up like 2" once the weight of the engine was off the mounts) Before washing After washing
  16. That might work. I didnt think of the xj box like that.
  17. Subscribed. I have quite a few videos of my mj and I'm starting an engine swap so a bunch more content my channel -->> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9rOwvYBsmOAZSR74edZ1MQ?view_as=subscriber
  18. I removed the HVAC box from my mj and I have to install one from a cherokee. The problem I am having is that 2 of the 5 studs didnt come out they just like broke the plastic mounting on the box itself and didnt come off the firewall. Is there any tips or tricks to prevent this when removing the cherokee hvac unit?
  19. Thought I would bring this up to see if any other members film videos of their comanches. I know @ogjeep has a youtube channel as well as a few others and I would like to subscribe and support fellow comanche owners
  20. Kinda disappeared from my build thread for a little while. Breathing new life into the comanche by doing a 1996 swap, similar to a 97+ but not quite as there are no firewall modifications to be made that I am aware of yet. Tomorrow I am finish pulling the interior out of the mj and starting to pull the electronics from the bay to prep to pull the drive train from the jeep (which should be done this weekend) Then next week I will be pulling the engine from the cherokee and putting it in the comanche. I will do my best to document the swap with lots of pictures and videos on my youtube channel. I also have a bunch of parts for sale if you check Here
  21. Looks awesome man!! can't wait to get out on that trip when the time allows
  22. Awesome Thank you
  23. Yes and the fuel system if you are swapping the 96 fuel rail and injectors onto the new motor. The 96 system is return less so you have to factor that. Also from what I have researched I believe the xj sending unit and fuel pump drop right into the mj tank but the pickup tube has to be modified
  24. Anyone ever use something like this for a 1996 xj clutch master and an external slave on an AX15?? The fittings look the same and the stock line is 42" I believe.
