Swampy replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In the xj it splits under the rear bench or as it would in the mj at the back of the cab -

@Pete M that's the conclusion I have come up with. I think it would be easier to adapt the xj harnees to the comanche tails but idk -
95 Xj 89Mj Tail Light Harness Integration?
Swampy replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The DIY link? I have been searching the forum and everything is either pre-95 or 97+. I havent found anything on 96 xj harness. I might do a trial by fire and figure out. I just trying to decided which would be easier, extending the xj harness or splicing the xj harness into the mj oem tail light harness -

How would I separate the turn signals and the stop/running lights on the MJ harness? -
99 Xj Wiring To 90 Mj Tail Light Harness
Swampy replied to LoTGoD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I keep reading about adding a wire to the comanche tail light harness to split up the running/brake lights but I don't know where to attach this wire on either end. Does it go to the brake light switch? Should I just adapt all the xj wiring to the comanche tails? If so how do I run the passenger side through the body out to the tails? -

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I thought about color matching the fenders to the jeep but I am glad I didnt. I have a video on youtube about the installation process and what not. The ones I have are the first gen dirt bound ones, second gen is the same but with a flat flare not a tube flare. -

I appreciate the kind words. Never thought of my jeep as something someone is trying to achieve as I am always looking to others. -

So I got the comanche to move under its own power! I was luckt the 2wd xj driveshaft I had bolted up because the current driveshafts are too short in the front and too long in the rear. Here is just a quick video I put together of some random clips -

I did have to get a new tank from an 86-87 comanche without the slosh pan inside the tank to be able run the xj sending unit and fuel pump. -

Soooooo the whole 96 swap is complete. I got it done on thursday but I am just getting around to making a post about it. I know the 96 xj was the first year of obd2 and kinda the least desirable but I think it is a great option for those people who don't really care about having the updated interior. The 96 swap is about 95% bolt-in, only a couple holes have to drilled for the fuse panel, relay block, and the steering column. There are no firewall modifications and everything swaps from the cherokee to comanche. My biggest concern was the frame horns but they bolted up just fine. Here are these pictures I took engine bolted up My interior is all mix matched Core support installed -
I have a set but I was looking to trade for tail light boxes

Lots of cool local brews I have to try. My favorite "Big store" brew definitely has to be blue moon

Happened to me on my mj about two years ago when I first got it running. I took it on a test drive around the block and heard some weird noises, and suddenly the driver rear side tire was next to me on the road. Good thing I was only doing 5mph and was about 150yards from my house

I was planning on updating it officialy when the truck is running

Thanks for the info. I have a 96 HO motor so I might run the mustang injectors
