swapping 4.0 into a 2.5 comanche
Swampy replied to 603Redneck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When you say you used the stock interior harness and connector did the 4.0 connector plug into the 2.5 without modifications? or you had to repin the connector? Couldn't you have just used the xj fuseblock? -
Definitely let us know how it goes. I know there is a guy on facebook that makes fiberglass boxes for about $200 or 300 a set.

I will check that tomorrow. While cranking it should be spraying into the manifold? -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
So I have no idea what is happening with my comanche. Spent today wrenching on it to no avail. The comanche is cranking, fuel pump is priming, the cps is working, ignition coil is sending power to the distributor, but still no sparky sparky boom boom I thought maybe the timing was off but the timing is fixed and the plugs are in the right order according to the firing order stamped on the intake manifold. (1342) I don't know what it could be. Thoroughly out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

I replaced all the relays, fuses and checked all the grounds. the fuel pumped primed when I went to start it the first time, the started clicked and that was it. The jeep still isn't starting or cranking over. I think it might be the started as I tried to jump the started with no luck. Tomorrow will be checking the starter, I have 2 so hopefully one works -
Looks nice love the color. How do you like the wj swap, going to be doing it on my mj too

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

Welcome back to the fun show of figuring this out piece by piece. So recap to where we last left off: It was determined that the current ecu might be fried on the comanche when the fire happened. Update to where we are currently: I got a known good ecu from a running truck from a member here on the forums. I plugged it into my truck and we are back to square one. The started clicked and the jeep did nothing. I know the fuel pump gets power when I ground it, and when I tried to turn on the tail lights to check that, they didn't turn on either. Which leads me to believe it wasn't the ecu but fuses, relays and or wiring. This week I will be checking all the fuses and relays and the starter relay. I am open to suggestions and any help would be appreciated. Pics of the new parts -

Finally bought an MJ. Build thread.
Swampy replied to SiXJaK's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice progress, as far as a big v8 in little truck sounds like an awesome idea but would need some fab work and new coil springs up front to support the weight -
That seems like the right answer, just don't know hoe the jk taillights would look on the back of an mj
-
Yeah when I first got my mj three years ago I was on the fence about the boxes and never got em. and here we are now lol

Now 2.5l/4wd ax15/np231 HPd30/c8.25 axles Current pics

My 1988 Jeep Comanche. unknown build date Base model 2wd swb 2.5l ax4 (bad primer spray paint job) Actually was silver Blue interior with bench seat and mini console d35 rear end w/ 3.55 gears Factory AC (no longer working when I got it) The only weird thing about the mj was the tube rear bumper but I'm sure that was an aftermarket addition. here are some pics from when I got it

My jeep will probably end up the same with some road driving as well. But looking forward to 2021 hopefully the mj's will be in action by then

Lol now I feel like a fool

I know there used to some produced by some manufactures. I am looking for a set either metal or fiberglass. I love the way the stock tail lights look and I would hate to bust them up on a trail when someone else can use them for their project that won't see the potential damage. So I would consider trading stock tail lights for the tail light boxes

can't believe I am just seeing this now. But yes i am still working on my jeep. tracking down a computer for my 2.5. The good thing is I may be moving to Utah or Wyoming for school in 2021 so I will be closer to Moab then I will be from Florida. Also like how your exhaust comes through the bed, I'm thinking of doing the same, also looking for taillight boxes

I have found 12/100 and I have a rumor of someone owning 78/100
