would like to know if this is the original eng non over haul with many miles if so could the possibly that the timing chain has got some slack in it and jump a tooth or two. This similar symptom had occurred with a v6 eng I had a long time ago and I did every thing under the sun to correct :brows: when someone mention the chain may have gone slack and jumped. :hmm: Just a thought one way to check is to loosen the distributor retainer bolt so that you can move the dist left or right and see what kinda results get -

ejndssn replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You may need to do a search on this site.. i don't think it will work let alone last the ax-5 was design for the 4cyl and not the 4.0l it may have been behind the 2.8 v6 just some thought -
LONG POST: project virgin. Advice please
ejndssn replied to A-man930's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
is the setup on you tranny internal or external slave I had similar problems with the internal setuo and swap it for an external. it could the fact that the retainer on the internal slave gave way and that could be you prblem since it would be floating kinda on the input shaft. if it is the external setup I :dunno: just something to look into -
BLHTAZ have you consider a stroker :brows:
-
$500 MJ wrote: I am not sure what type of tranny you have, there is a difference with the main shaft that seats in the crank shaft bushing. i do believe that the internal setup of the AX-15 is a bit narrower then the later ones (external setup). just a caution :brows:
-
what setup do you have on the AX-15 if its internal setup and the internal slave went bad I would replace it with the one that has more metal than plastic some where here there was some pic's between the two types. If its the tranny I would consider the external setup. Good luck
-
here are some additional sites you may want to look into :brows: http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com and here is another that i belong tohttp://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/strokers they have a lot of data and experience. good luck BTW i have been stroked for a few years now (AP kit with a light wt crank) and If i had to do it again :hmm: .... :beerhead: hell yeah :D

New Member Project...suggestions?
ejndssn replied to xjcrazy09's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
first things first Nice Truck  2nd that dog wanted a ride if it is your dog then i'd figured he wanted back in if not yours then you just made that dog jealous :brows: If the AX-15 is the option you know that there are two types internal and external. IMHO the external setup is the way to go. Based on your desires and not the dog's he just wants to ride. I would go and obtain the complete set tranny and t-case which ever route you auto or manual. so that the input shaft is no longer a question. The other manual tranny option is the NV3550 and second source info states that these are very good. I'll have to leave that to those that already have installed them. I believe that Pete may have one in his MJ :dunno: If just the input shaft is all that you need then some one may have one avail or the price for a new one is around buck and half or higher i believe that the 4wd site may have it for that price you be lucky at the JY and get the whole shooting match for around two bucks. sorry bout the  just my dime's worth -
:jump: got mine and i hoped that lil extra helps I kinda round things up a little to help offset some of the cost. Thanks again
