  1. Just found this in an old Jeep magazine about starting a sitting engine http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/ ... index.html
  2. Thanks Jim and Dave good information. Greatly appreciated
  3. Help Help Help...FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY at a point I can spend time working on the truck. 86 MJ 2.8? 4x4 Question is it hasn't been started for 2 years so I know I know shame on me but I really need direction on where to begin. Everyone has opinions and I'd like to get the clubs views since some one was probably in the same boat You know...turn the crank, replace the gas, pull the plugs, etc. i'm mechanical but not a motorhead. Ive read up but still looking for advice.
  4. Sorry Guys, Its a 5 speed manual the 4 is next to the 5 and not proof reading before I posted  . To much Black & Tan in the kegerator . Thanks for your suggestions :USAflag:
  5. Well the screen room is 3/4 done so I'd like to get going on the comanche. have an 86 comanche 2.8 4 speed in the driveway thats been sitting for 5 months  , I know they are very tempermental when not started sooooooo, all of you much more experienced folks could please give me a few pointers before I turn the crank, I'd appreciate it. It started back then no problem, drove a littlr ruff but was dependable after you pumped the carb it would crank right over. Thanks for all feed back :USAflag:
  6. Welcome aboard Steve, I'm just as new as you. I'm looking to put a bench in my 86 mj so me and my boys can ride to the meets and such. Do you still hgave that one. The buckets are shot and we need a bench I'm tired of that spring in my  I'm in east brunswick,NJ
  7. MJ bench is the best senario and the best idea and if it means taking a road trip to Virginia or Buffalo(THANKS TJ and Wildman for the offer) so be it, but I'll try to find one a little closer to home first. Home is New Jersey so if any of you Comanche freaks out there want to unload, give, sell, trade or barter a bench seat for my new 86 project please Email me. I'll gladly give up the buckets after the bench install but the're in pretty humble shape. I'm trying to do the picture thing soon Thanks again :USAflag: GOD BLESS AMERICA
  8. I have searched this site for any info on going the opposite way from original buckets to a bench on my 86. I need 3 seats for me and the boys. and thanks again for your responces in the past. Does anyone have any research that way. Like a bench seat from a S-10 or Ranger fits width wise but brackets must be modified?? Thanks in advance.
  9. Where do I start? I bought a 1986 comanche 2.8 v6, 5 speed with about 150K on it for 4 bills. No leaks, drove home 100+ miles without incedent and it starts first crank everytime. My dream! a jeep and a pick-up too! My boys (13 & 7) are excited and so am I. My wife loves it too. I've ordered the Chintin manual. But where do we go from here? How do I know what axles there are? The tranfer case? etc. Is the 86 Comanche the same as a jeep cherokee from that year? SOOOOOOOOOO Please bear with me any info direction (websites books mag articles) is a score. Thanks in advance Dale
