  1. That's what I do. As long as the transfer case is isolated from the rear axle, or which ever axle is on the road.
  2. Did you punch them with a ,22, .38 or .45?
  3. Got curious so I went thru the yard to see what I could find. The top cover for '91 up 2.5's will fit the earlier versions and the take off for the hose is farther to the rear so you can access the steering reservoir. The vacuum fittings are different, depending on year and model but that should not be an insurmountable problem. And their is always aftermarket air cleaners that can be used. Just don't run yer Jeep without one.
  4. Do a little boating.
  5. I didn't do anything with the parking brake hole. The ratchet on my MJ is slipping and I 'm getting ready to swap in the hand brake assembly from a XJ. Anyway it doesn't bother anything. I'm going to swap this console for one with the cup holders. Them things are handy. In this pic the bucket seats are from a '91XJ and the console is from '87XJ,
  6. Seems like those of us with certain older body parts appreciates something like that more than a young donkey. :jump:
  7. Mechanically the 4.0 pump will bolt onto the 2.5 . The problem is the 2.5 resrvoir is remote and the 4.0 is one piece. Using the 4 pump on a 2.5 the filler cap interferes with the air intake hose from the filter to the intake. You can dimple the hose or just leave it off and use a different air filter.
  8. Nope. That pretty well covers it. There's also a ground for the instrument panel. gauges, and dash. Left hand side under dash but that's not likely the problem or the rest of the instruments and dash lights would also be goofy.
  9. Just a thought. Did the crew stay with the tank? Or did they bail out and let it go in by it's self? Also I find it hard to believe that a running engine went underwater sucking in water and whatever else and suffered no damage. With the military type filters it is possible to cut off air flow, hilling the engine before it sucks any water, but I still find it hard to believe. Of course they could have just shut it off at the bank and then pushed it in. Maybe the area was dry when they parked it and the weight of the tank created a depression and filled with water. :dunno:
  10. Bad idea, Besides the reason given above, heat transfer, there is also a condition known as 'cavitation'. When a fan blade, or propeller, turns to fast it creates turbulence and no air flow, thus no cooling and loss of HP. This also applies to the vanes on the water pump. They turn to fast they create turbulence, cavitate and no water flow.
  11. Friends don't let friends drive tanks into peat bogs.
  12. I mounted a set of 8.50X10 tires and wheels on my MJ. Got 'em off my riding lawn mower. I can do burn outs all day, or for 5 minutes before they burn out. Hasn't fazed the D35 one bit. :huh???:
  13. So why didn't they build a caison around the tank, pump it dry, repair the tank there and drive it out? Yeah, yeah. I know. There's a smart donkey in every crowd.
  14. :agree: I make it a point to buy the complete vehicle. Remove what i need, sell what I can that I don't need and sell what's left for scrap. Many a time I have bought the whole car for close to or less than what the JY wanted just for the part.
  15. 15 minutes?
  16. When I was living in Blaine Wa there was a border crossing about 20 miles East of Blaine. Unmanned.

    WRAPPED MJ

Looks like something a starving artist in a freezing atmosphere who's been imbibing too much anti freeze would come up with.
  18. The bed seems to be missing.

Got a '77 J20, Yellow I call Goldie. The GF called it that the first time I picked her up in it and the name just stuck. Had a '52 CJ5, original Hawaiian Pink I called the 'Pink lady of the night" and sometimes 'The pimp mobile.'. Note. 'The Pink Lady of The Night' is the censors wording. Not mine.
  20. Hey Rob. Thank you for your trouble and the posting. And as for the 'Chief", At least it's Red. Jim
  21. Five years ago I finished a deck and treated it with Olympic wood treatment. was looking at it today and it's ready for another treatment. Five years may not seem long but consider that there's no roof so it catches the full benefit of the sun and weather. Also doesn't need scraping. Just apply over the old.
  22. Coffee's always on and the welcome mat is always out.
  23. Didn't see a thing. Something was blocking the sun and no light was getting thru.
  24. My DD, A 2.5 with 4sd has 3.53 gearing. It's just right for a DD. However any kind of a load or a trailer and the lack of horse power is evident. Although it gets the job done.
  25. Or an audio generator. For a 6 cyl 100cycles per second will equal 2,000RPM. Or use a small transformer, 12VAC or less. 60CPS will translate to 1200RPM
