Supply and demand, AKA, Free enterprise, Capitalism.

Should have stated in the first post. At the fuel rail, 25psi switch on, engine not running, 22-23psi with engine running. These numbers are not correct. The pressure is 35 PSI. Not sure if that error was due to a typo or a brain fart.

HA!! Completely forgot that one. Gonna go try it. They say the memory is the second thing to go. Don't remember what was first.

Interesting problem almost opposite to what Minuit posted on his truck cutting out. 1994 XJ. 4.0, auto. The first 2 or 3 times turning the key to start, the engine turns over but doesn't fire. After several tries it fires but dies immediately. This happens several times. After doing this a half dozen times the engine will run for 1 or 2 seconds and die. This goes on half a dozen times, each time the engine runs for a second longer. Keep the foot off the gas. Pushing the gas pedal kills it instantly. After 5-10 minutes of this I can finally give it some gas. It revs up good. Taking it out on the road it runs good, shifts thru all gears good, hits 85mph, was still winding out but I backed off, holds a steady 75-80 with no miss. Once it's warmed up there is no problem. Always starts and runs first try. Just does it when cold or been sitting awhile. Throws codes 12, 24, 14, and 55. Swapped the tps, the IAC and the MAP with another XJ. The trouble stayed with the original engine. The second Jeep ran good with these parts. Getting the proper voltage at the plugs, +5VDC. When I got the Jeep home I found 1 used and 2 new CPS on the floor, and looks like a new one on the engine. Apparently the PO tried to fix it himself, with no luck, which is why he sold it. Any and all ideas solicited and welcome. :dunno:

Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the Nuts? Finally this age-old question is answered..... Women always say that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts. Here is proof that they are wrong. A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "it might be nice to have another child." You never hear a guy say, "it might be nice to have another kick in the nuts." Case closed. :rotfl2:

Pretty good?

Buy or pass? Driveline question...

I just got a '94 XJ with 2.5, AX15, 4WD for $450. Runs good. Complete. Come get it, you can have it for $500. Don't buy parts from a JY. Get a complete donor and sell what you don't use. -
Back into the driveway when parking. :rotfl2:

Has anyone bought a new fuel tank?
jimoshel replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A couple years ago I swapped the fuel pump assembly from a '89 LB. 23 gal to a '87 SB 16 gal. Works OK.Gauge reads right on. -
Been 106 here last couple days. Nice thing about Colorado, Low humidity and altitude. The minute the sun goes down it starts cooling off. Pulling the blanket up about the middle of the night.

I believe the difference in volume is made up in the tank length. Not it's depth. So the 3 sending units, 16, 18 and 23 will swap. -
Didn't want to embarrass myself so was waiting for someone else to ask.

Suggestions for taking a 2WD offroad
jimoshel replied to jeeplover88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Can't beat a come-a-long. Requires a little sweat and a place to anchor the cable but they work. A Hi-Lift jack is also great on a stuck Jeep. They can also maim or kill so be careful. The local P&P won't even let one in the yard. I have a chain attachment on mine so it won't slip off the bumper. -
best way to fix my r12 system
jimoshel replied to NTXMancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I appreciate your situation. It's been 106 here the last 4 days. Since you already have the NAPA conversion, just go with it. -
Maybe that's why it's called a Dana 44. They made 44 versions of it.

Suggestions for taking a 2WD offroad
jimoshel replied to jeeplover88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: Know your limitations BEFORE you start and don't get carried away. A 2WD can probably go 90% of the places a 4WD can with proper tires and driver know how.(Waiting to see how many arguments I get on that) A bumper to bumper inspection and maintenance before leaving the yard. "4WD. A substitute for poor driver skills and equipment." My uncle told me that back in 1947 and I still remember it. If I don't get half of the responses I expect from those two remarks I will be greatly surprised. -
I love 'em so much I got my own. However please do not refer to it as a junk yard. I prefer the term ' temporary storage area for possibly useful vehicle components',

I have not actually removed and swapped one. The only way to really tell. What I did do was park a '87 MJ with a 4.0 and a '87 MJ with a 2.5 side by side and visually compared them. They look identical.

We had them 'Damn Yankees' whupped, until I accidentally dropped my cigar in the ammo bunker. Wiped out the last of our ammo. :shake:

Found two. Nieither one worth the trouble of shipping.

Get a set from a XJ. I have several but not knowing where you're at shipping might be higher than what you can find locally.
