  1. I like it. Great job.
  2. Yesterday I was having trouble getting a transmission back into the XJ it came out off. Finally with a little muscle and a big grunt it went. Got a couple bolts started to hold it and crawled out from underneath and stood up. Next thing I know I'm lying flat on my back staring at the ceiling, the room is spinning and the GF is screaming in my ear, "Where's your money?" Naw, she didn't say that. She helped me up to the house and got me in a chair and comfy. Today we been spattin all day. She thinks I had a stroke and wants me to go see a Dr. She's a RN and I suppose knows something about them things. I refuse to go. That's how I got as old as I am, by avoiding Dr's. We'll see. Any how got the Jeep finished and test drove it today. Runs, and shifts great. Wish I could say the same about me. LOL
  3. Freeze plug. Upper right rear in block. Might be head gasket. Is it leaking inside or outside the bell housing?
  4. I got tired of trying to find a good ground point when trouble shooting a Jeep. The latest being a '95ZJ. The rear windows would take turns working or not working. Took a 20 foot 12 gauge electric cord and attached two alligator clips to one end big enough to clamp onto the battery terminals. Painted one Red and the other Black. For obvious reason. On the other end I attached a female banana jack to the same wire with the Red clip. On the other wire I attached a small alligator clip. Now no matter where I'm at or what I need, I have a good ground and if needed, a 12V source. :wrench:
  5. See if you can find a good running 4 banger and arrange for him to drive it. I can't believe in my younger days when I hitched up the horses,,,,er,,,I mean was driving my hot rods if it didn't have a 3,000HP V8 I didn't want it, But now, my DD, a '87 2.5 I love. It does everything I want it to, although sometimes it might take a little longer, Would never trade it for a 6 cyl. Got a '77 J20 for heavy haulin.
  6. What I do on something like this is check the part numbers. Either go online to one of the auto parts stores , or get one of their catalogs. Look up the part numbers of the old part. Then get the number for the new part. If it's the same number, they'll interchange. I have found that sometimes the numbers will be different but the part will still fit. Usually a small change and the new part will fit the old application but the old part won't fit the newer.
  7. I have a 1987 MJ with 287K on the clock. Still runs great but is starting to show it's age. I also have a 1994XJ with 68K, been rolled. Both 2.5, 5speed. The MJ is 2WD. The XJ is 4WD. When I swap engines, and 4WD conversion, Should I just swap over all the sensors, sending units, etc, betwwen the 2 engines keeping it Renix, or should I go thru the trouble of swapping all the wiring, ECM and making the MJ a HO rig? Wondering if the benefits would be worth the trouble or not. Already think I got my made up what I'm going to do. Just looking for other opinions and a discussion on it.
  8. Was it draggin' or sitting in the parking lot?
  9. Ten, Eight complete and running, One complete, not running, One runs but missing some parts. The meaning of life. "He who has the most toys when he dies wins."
  10. HOHUM,,,So what's new? $500 1988 MJ, 5sp, 4wd, 237K total on truck, 2,700 on rebuilt 4.0 AX15, think somebody swapped it in, almost new tires. Cracked windshield. Bent front bumper NO RUST! Clean floorboards.
  11. Mileage is meaningles. meanless. meani, useless. It's the overall condition of the vehicle that counts. Around here a complete, rust free XJ is easily worth $600 or more, regardless of the mileage.
  12. I don't believe either of those 2 photos. I can actually see the garage floor and there's some empty space on the benches.
  13. In the last year I've seen 3. 2 on the road and 1 in a parking lot. Left a CC card under the wiper but never heard from him (her). Going in this morning to look at a '88 I heard about. :dunno:

  17. Cherokee is a direct replacement for the front lights. You should be able to find one locally. If Not, I can help. No help here on the rear. Keeping them for myself.
  18. In the early days of automobiles brakes were unreliable. It was called an 'Emergency Brake' for a reason. As brakes became more reliable the term 'parking brake' came into vogue. You could probably get by as is, but personally I would fix it.
  19. All the AW4's I have are column shift so no pic. If I remember correctly the cable goes through a hole to the left of center in the front vertical metal wall between the floorboard and transmission cover. If you got everything off an XJ, it should fit.
  20. COWBOY TOMB STONE Headstone of Russell J. Larsen in the Logan City Cemetery, Logan, Utah! I wonder if he died knowing he won the 'Coolest Headstone' contest? His five rules for a happy life are at the bottom. FIVE RULES FOR MEN TO FOLLOW FOR A HAPPY LIFE: 1. It’s important to have a woman who helps at home, cooks from time to time, cleans up, and has a job. 2. It’s important to have a woman who can make you laugh. 3. It's important to have a woman who you can trust, and doesn't lie to you. 4. It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and likes to be with you. 5. It's very, very important that these four women do not know each other or you could end up dead like me. :jump:
