  1. Had it up on ramps. Felt I needed the room. May have had something to do with it. Just changed one arm at a time, upper first, then lower. The left side wasn't to bad. Had room to put a jack between the 2 CA brackets and pushed the front out. Couldn't do that on the right side. Could on the upper, not the lower. Also half of the bushings had been beat out to where the metal core was rubbing, banging against the edge of the hole. May have shifted parts a little. Warped the springs? I'm getting to old for this chit. An anybody claims they heard me say that I'll deny it.
  2. Practice makes perfect. Never thought dropping the track bar. Did think about dropping the axle and removing the springs but didn't want to go to that extreme.
  3. :huh???: Didn't trim nuttin. The FSM was of no help what so ever with this.
  4. I placed a 3 ft prybar between the axle housing and track bar. put the other end on a floor jack. Bent the pry bar. Added a spring leaf to the bar and got it.
  5. Depending on which way the wind is blowing determines which way my Jeep leans.
  6. Swapped all four control, suspension, arms on the '98 WJ. NEVER AGAIN. Anybody else ever do it? How do you twist the axle to get the last bolt in? Anyway got it done and taking it in today for alignment. Just gonna wait for the Dork to tell me I need new control arm bushings. :thwak:
  7. Get yourself a junk vehicle and start cutting. There are hundreds of books on body work and custom car building. You get those skills by practice. Not wishing. Without taking a poll, I would be willing to bet that's how over half of the club members here got their start.
  8. Either that or make the vent rectangular instead of trapezoid,Have an equal space between both sides of the vent and door frame and cab back.
  9. Mine. I made it before I knew you wanted it.
  10. My main interest is just seeing it going to a good home and not getting scrapped. If you bid on it I'm out. If you don't, I will. Just let me know. One of the favorite tricks of some of the more experienced EBayers is to wait until the last possible and then place a bid, trying to time it so there won't be enough time for someone else to bid. Some of these guys have got it down so pat they literally can split a second on a bid. Indian wrestle? I ain't Indian wrestled since I was a kid and Debbie Sue told a couple of us guys that who ever won Indian wrestling could take her home.
  11. Rob.Did you find out why the truck isn't running? I sent them an email but no response yet.
  12. I have spoken with the seller and previous owner... More details to come out... But I need to tie up all the loose ends. Ben (Nehoic) and I have been all over the map on this thing and are collaborating stories and digging for facts. When we get the full story down, we'll let you guys know. If you haven't noticed, there is now a reserve on the truck. Rob I thought there was a reserve on it the other day when I checked it out.I'm tired of the suspense. Think I'll put a bid on it just to get the ball roillin'.
  13. Sometimes the hardest thing in the world to do is hold your tongue. Unfortunately too often we don't realize it until it's to late. If you had just kept your temper and talked civil to the YM everything would of been OK. I'm on very good terms with the YM here. I go in the yard whenever without paying the $1 entry fee. Occasionally I slip him a $10 cigar and we BS awhile. I could probably walk out of the yard carrying 360 Jeep engine under my arm and he wouldn't notice. OK!! I exaggerate a little, but you get the point. Be nice to people. It pays.
  14. I'm wondering if they had swapped sides and inverted the cab vents if it would look better. The leading edge would be parallel with the door line and the top and bottom would be horizontal. Any photochop geniuses out there? :dunno:
  15. You just don't fix a valve with out pulling the head. Unless you're a really good welder and reach in thru the spark plug hole and build the valve edge back up. :thwak:
  16. Swaps a water pump out in less than 10 minutes. Use a sledge hammer and chisel to remove the old pump. Clean old gasket material from mating surface. Hold new pump in position. take a roll of duct 6tape and wrap it around the pump and engine block. Voila! done. Now if I could just get the dern thing to quit leaking.
  17. That's the only kind I do, and/or have.Love that 8 inch channel and 2X6 rectangular tubing. Pics on request.
  18. Sacrilege
  19. Don't ever use your original iron to practice welding on. That's what scrap is for. Get a old hood, door panel. fender etc the same thickness as the door jamb and practice on it. What I would do is re enforce the patch. Cut a piece of metal, same gauge as the jamb, about 1/2 to 1inch bigger than the hole. Weld it onto the back of the striker plate. Get the plate into position and tack a couple welds to hold it. If you have or can access a spot welder use it. if not then drill a half dozen holes around the perimeter of the original hole. Hold the backing plate tight against the jamb and weld it thru the holes you drilled. Finish welding the original piece. The interior can be accessed by removing the plastic liner. Just be careful you don't break it. It's old plastic and getting brittle. Remove the edging from around the door so the weld heat won't warp it.
  20. Anybody here aware of the fact that Pueblo, Colorado is the home of the annual RMSRN? Going on right now. Must be a couple million dollars worth of street rods and old iron running around in town now. Yes Virginia, there is life in this world besides Jeeps.
  21. Improper where I'm from. Me too.
  22. Thinks Mountainman should check with ParadiseMJ on how to add 'movement' to a avatar.
  23. Try adjusting the pot first. That's why it's there.
  24. Can anyone recommend a good online site for purchasing Jeep parts? User friendly, good service and reasonably priced. Also any to avoid. Need some control arm bushings and really get frustrated trying to navigate my way around some of them.
  25. Was a little disappointed Jeep came in 15th. Scrolled thru the whole list. Comanche also placed 1st and 3rd. Also 18th. Nissan seemed to have the most entries. Neohic. Thanks for posting the link.
