I got mine a little over a year ago as well,I don't remember them taking long to ship
-
There are MJs on here with the rough country XJ LA's installed
-
They must have started making them longer,I helped a guy with an IRO long arm and his lines were a bit shorter then my chevy truck lines. IIRC the chevy lines are a little over 25" Its a bad pic but here is the 2wd chevy line next to a stock line The part numbers are on my build page, they were about $25 for the set
-
When mine was at 5" all I had to do is relocate the hardlines

3 inch lift or 4.5 inch lift
mnkyboy replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its not really required the axle just won't sit centered. The probably didn't include it to keep the cost down,RRO does the same thing with their kits. they give you the absolute minimum then its up to you to add anything else you want. -
I believe they are the same on all d35s

3 inch lift or 4.5 inch lift
mnkyboy replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Depends how much you want to spend. 4.5" lift kit can range from around $500 to around $2000. Bang for the buck the RC kit is probably your best bet, just remember when you buy a $500 kit you get a $500 kit so don't get mad when it doesn't ride like a high end kit. -
Motion Offroad Budget Boost?
mnkyboy replied to kawaboy13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your current shocks will be ok. Yes this can be done at home with jack stands but I would go buy a coil spring compressor. You can buy the shackles for an MJ but they are more money,RRO sells a 1" MJ shackle for $72 vs $38 for the chevy shackle. So basically you could get your whole lift for around the cost of just the shackles. -
From what I've read its 88-97 on the shackles

Rear shock mounting questions
mnkyboy replied to zagscrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mine are currently in the stock location and I get lots of flex. I would keep them around the same location as stock and worry more about getting the correct shock length. -
The perches are wrong on it too. Your most likely not going to use any of the XJ mounts. Are you putting it in SOA or SUA?
-
Got some wheel spacers yesterday,I planned to put them on the D44 when it goes in but i couldnt wait so i bolted them to the d35. Also Ive been curious as to why I'm not getting the flex i think i should be getting out of the front, today i figured it out. My RRO shocks are way too short. with the shocks without the shocks I guess I'm gonna be looking for some longer shocks.

Looks like 88-97 on the Chevy shackles. I wouldn't worry much about finding true 2" spacers. The difference is only 1/4" -

My RRO shocks are way too short. with the shocks without the shocks I guess I'm gonna be looking for some new shocks, i also found that with the shock issue fixed my next limiting factor will be the RRO track bar which i plan to swap out for a double shear type anyway.- 798 replies

Lots of people have Y links, search around on here and you should find all kinds of info on them

It wouldn't go to the vacuum ball,if it goes to the bumper someone must have added an oil cooler

If the sending unit is messed up any guage cluster will read the same. You need to pull the sending unit out and hook a guage straight to the engine to see for sure what the pressure is.
-
Is that reading from the guage cluster or did you hook up an actual pressure guage?

Not sure I see the value there. You could put the samething together for less. I see some coil spacers, chevy drop shackles, and cheap stock length shocks -
A list of things when rebuilding..?
mnkyboy replied to 87Chief's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why do you think it won't do it? You can rebuild the engine all you want but if your problem isn't the engine its not gonna do any good. Have you done any tests to verify that anything is wrong with it? If all it needs is valve seals,I would just do valve seals -

What about your engine is so bad that it won't make an hour and a half trip? How is a rebuild gonna fix it? -
Engine, tranny and axle ratios
mnkyboy replied to 89Tonto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
These are the most common found ratios for 87+,86 seems like they pulled the ratios from a hat.you just have to look 2.5L + auto = 4.56 2.5L + 4spd = 3.55. 2.5l + 5spd = 4.10 4.0L + auto = 3.55 4.0L + stick = 3.07 -
What a moron

I'm gonna guess that she was wrong about the battery. There should be some numbers stamped in the engine tins, from those you can determine the build date of the engine and get an idea how old the thing is.
