    My XJ is dead

She doesn't have an issue with the lifted suv but I doubt I will get her to tow anything again.

    My XJ is dead

I'm very happy she is ok,XJs are easy to replace. I'm also very glad my son wasn't in the jeep,he was going with us then decided to hang out with my brother instead. We are not sure what exactly happened, she went to change lanes and she said the tow dolly whipped real hard and she couldn't get it back under control. She ended up upside down aiming the wrong way. After this I have decided the next one is getting a cage,an XJs roof is about as stout as a soda can

    My XJ is dead

Yesterday we were moving some of my cars from Boring to Kalama,i was driving one and the wife was towing the other on a dolly behind the Jeep. she lost control of the Jeep and rolled it on I-5 between Woodland and La center, she was trapped and the fire dept had to pull her from the jeep but she came out very well considering what had happened, they took her to the hospital and she was released a few hours later. the jeep, car ,and dolly were all impounded. i was able to get the XJ and dolly back but the car was a parts car and i had no title so they won't release it. It sucks but I'm just glad my wife is ok. here's some pics. before
  4. After my fancy stereo got ripped off I put a mechless deck in the MJ,it uses SD cards or an MP3 instead of cds. It cost me about $40 at walmart up here. Have you checked online? Amazon.com has cd players starting around $29.
  5. My first bike did that to me,I hit the rear brake and it locked tight. Scared the crap out of me and left a 40+ foot skid mark,I got lucky and was able to keep the bike upright. I got it home and sure enough one shoe had delaminated and got wedged into the other shoe.
  6. Time to build a cafe bike.
  7. As far as I know d30 and d44 will swap but d35 won't.
  8. You can go 6" if you trim the mounts, problem is we are talking about 6.5" ZJ coils I've never seen a 7.5" + lift on short arms without DBs
  9. There is also the bolt on option, they key into your stock perches and bolt in place. They are easy to install and require no welding, Down side is they cost quite a bit more then the weld on perches.
  10. That would explain why people are getting pilot bushings made to use their stuff rather then switch to the Dakota stuff. What year did the 2.5l change?
  11. I'm not sure you would even be able to get the lower arms on with that much lift without LAs or DBs, at 6" the lower arm will be hitting the axle end LCA mount so with 6.5" ZJ springs the arms would be crammed into the mount so hard that even if you got them on the suspension would be bound up just sitting there.
  12. Not sure, but I found some people running the Dakota flywheel on 2.5l TJs. they didn't say anything about needing to balance them.
  13. From what I've read the 2.5l Dakota used a 14 spline clutch and ours is a 10 spline but I can't confirm that. The clutch disk is 9-1/8" OD and 1-1/8"X10 spline Napa #RCF4198 its for a 2.5l 4spd comaro The pressure plate and throw out will be 2.5L jeep stuff unless you went to the Dakota flywheel then you can use the 2.5l dakota stuff,I've also heard this eliminates the custom pilot bearing. I haven't done this swap so this is just things I've read as I've looked into converting mine over so don't just take my word for it.
  14. 82 2.5l comaro clutch disk,I have the part # somewhere For the pilot bearing I was gonna turn one out on the lathe but I've heard AA sells one that will work.
  15. Yes its set up for the cps, Another option is the advanced adapters conversion kit,it let's you adapt the ax5 bell housing to the ax15. Only thing is its expensive
  16. That would probably be the waggy LP 44 but you will have to convert it to coil suspension. The kits kinda spendy but you can put locking hubs on your D30
  17. Hope that frame is strong enough,I always cut and weld frame rails at angles. Its a lot stronger then a straight cut,you might add some fish plates or something to strengthen it.
  18. I would spray it out of a paint gun,its usually cheaper then rattle and looks 1000 times better. You can buy rustoleum paint for about $8 a quart, then get a couple dollar can of thinner add a cheap HVLP gun and your ready to go. Or for a little more you can buy a cheap single stage automotive paint. When you buy spray paint you only get a couple ounces of paint the rest is thinner/reducer,it takes a few cases of spray paint to equal the coverage of one quart of paint.
  19. Should be 88-97 on the chevy truck drop shackle. Here's how mine looked stock on 31s

    run an engine

I've made stand alone harnesses for transplants that you could do that with,I don't think it would be worth it though. The easy way would be if possible to find an on old points style dist that fits the engine then use a spray bottle of gas to keep it running or get a LPG mixer for a dual fuel set up and fit it over the TB (some slip on like an aftermarket air filter, and use a hose clamp) Then all you need is an old bell housing to mount a starter
  21. The rubicon unit doesn't dissconnect the links,it just seperates the sway bay into two sides so each side can move independently. That means on a rig with a lot off flex the sway bar would run out of down travel and limit flex.
  22. I think it would be cool on a stockish rig but I can't see it working on a rig with a lot of flex.
  23. Here's some info on motion
  24. today i made a ghetto ramp so i could take some measurements for my shocks. I'm thinking of going about 3" longer and adding some BPEs not bad flex for not having long arms
