  1. I have them and they work great, can't say much about the kits though since I made my own brackets Had I bought brackets I think I would have gone with RRO.
  2. 42" of flex and yes at that height my coils are about to fall out and my trac bar won't let it go any further. Here it is on a ramp 730 RTI@30 degrees. my truck is 115" WB so thats 42" I have flexed it higher with my forklift but 42s the highest on a actual ramp.
  3. I doubt you could flex either enough to bind in a stock body truck, there is no shock that will fit an MJ with enough down travel to bind a 3 or 4 link. I'm sure on a buggy or similiar there is a difference but I don't think you would see any difference in flex on a full body MJ. at 42" of flex my short arms still have some flex left in them so I can't see how you could bind a 4 link long arm
  4. As far as flex I doubt you will see any difference between a 3 and 4 link on a full bodied truck. The arms may have a ton of flex but within the confines of the truck there isn't enough room to build a suspension that can use the full potential. You will run out of shock before either style binds. FWIW my technically short armed MJ has out flexed an MJ with the Rock Krawler 3 link kit
  5. I still have the D35 in there,I have a few more parts to gather for the disc brakes on the D44 then I will be swapping it in. The D44 will be getting a locker too,the only reason I got the front one first is because I got a killer deal on it.
  6. Shouldnt need any trimming I had 30x9.50-15s on 3.75" BS wheels on my XJ with no trimming, they would have fit even better on OEM wheels. If it does rub just put a 1- 1.75 coil spacer in to level the truck out
  7. Funny, when I saw the title my first thought was you got a Toyota Stout engine. I was thinking, what the heck could you be doing with one of those and an MJ
  8. Thanks,I was looking for something like that.
  9. I have a 2.5l and AX4 in a 1989 MJ and I want to swap in a 1990 4.0l and a 93ish AX15. I found a good deal on an 89 4.0l 5spd harness from a CC member but its from a 1989 XJ. What am I looking at as far as swapping it into the MJ, I figure it will need spliced into the MJ harness for the rear lights and fuel pump but is there anything else I may run into? I just want to make sure that I will be able to make it work before I get it.
  10. If I was to go long arm I would want a 3 link or 4 link set up. To pull a 4 link and install some crappy radius arms seems silly IMO. If those kits are too expensive I would look into modifying what you have and adding some drop brackets. A short arm lift with DBs can flex as well as any off the shelf long arm kit.
  11. I have an 89MJ,the engine is from a 90 XJ
  12. I would prefer one for an MJ but I can work with an XJ harness.

    Crazy mad flex

After having the MJ on a ramp yesterday I thought I would bring this thread back.
  14. We had a pretty good turn out,4 MJs and at least 6 CC members made it. It was nice to meet every body,we've got some nice MJs here in the NW with some cool owners. I didn't get much for pics but the wife got some and some of the other guys got some so I'm sure pics will come soon.
  15. That should put you there about the same time as the Portland/Vancouver area group. Here's the info for that convoy for any one interested. Convoy Details: America's Tire - 0900 8120 Ne Vancouver Plaza Vancouver, WA 98662 meeting up on the side lot, and shooting to leave as a group 0915-0930.
  16. Finished the beer and read it again but it still doesn't make sence. You cannot properly install your gears in another housing for less money then you can get a housing with gears already in it.
  17. So you can afford the housing and the gear set up but you can't afford $60 for an entire axle. That's not making sense to me.
  18. Should be a good turn out for MJs this year. I had the only MJ last year
  19. So I guess we will see you there.
  20. I don't see why not,the 2.5l 5spd was available in the later years.
  21. I have heard arguments going both ways. The CAD would have a stronger factory arm mount but I think having the tube split with the CAD housing tacked in between would make the axle tube weaker then a uncut tube I also think it would be easier to build a truss on the non CAD axle
  22. I would get a non CAD d30 from a later cherokee and truss it. You could also get a sleeve kit that goes inside the tubes to beef them up.
  23. Even that route you still will need control arms or DBs, you could trim enough to make it drive but it wouldn't be right. At 6" on stock arms 33s are gonna touch the fenders.
  24. You cannot run 33" tires with that lift out of the box,you would still need control arms and/or drop brackets. Or some trimming. You will also be needing shocks.
