Eventually itll have ling arms and stick with this 6.5"front lift and 32s til they wear out then flares and 35s or 36s. Ive been piling up parts for years have been hitting it hard lately. Got the 8.8 mounted in will weld that off soon as i finish the slip yoke eliminator and have a good target to aim for. Still debating running a cv rear shaft or just a traditional 2 joint shaft. How long our wheel base is i feel id be alright without the cv but I'm on the fence still

Well ive been away from this forum for a few years and thought id finally post what I'm working on since this jeep has been on the back burner for years. i have an 88 MJ pionner olympic edition. i got it way back in 2005 drove it for a few years and then it was hit and run around 2008 drove it smashed for a bit until the brake lines rusted out and broke, then it just kinda sat. Fast forward to sometime around 2011 i started to fix the old smashed up thing and do a 4wd swap. So i got a rear ended Xj grabbed all the front end parts, front axle, trans, and t-case and swapped that in. Then I lost interest in it again, so i went out and bought a ZJ and was good for awhile. The MJ sat until this year. Back in the day I had no idea what I was doing and no access to fab tools, now I've been working sheet metal for a few years and have all the tools at work I could ever need. but i missed my truck, the only vehicle I couldn't sell. I've had 14-15 cars since I bought the comanche and its the sole survivor. So I towed it from my parents farm to my house in the city, cleaned it up took the lift i had on my zj for the front, got a 8.8 rear and perches. got a SYE just because if I'm going to buy a new driveshaft I'm going to do it once. well here is some pictures b.c...well pictures How it sat after the wreck 4wd swap and body repair at my house after being parked for 6 years and here is after the front lift and streching out the stock spring under before i decided to go ahead with spring over, and i wanted to see what she could look like

go down to your local farming shop and get you some sweet corn feed. add water and yeast let it sit for a bit then run it through said still a couple times. get you some real cheap drink shine. oh and since you have a thermostat I'm sure you know with it the temp will settle twice the low temp its burning off the methanol(make you blind stuff) then it will bump up and give you your ethanol ie good stuff then start creeping to water boiling temps and it will be just water. . I make wine and soon I'm going to start my first beer b.c this wine is taking WAY to long. I'm not patient enough to do this. but the strawberry wine i have fermenting smells really good, and has a nice color. now only if i liked wine.

yea thanks for the info and def good call on replaceing wearable parts. i work at a lesser autoparts store but hopefully that will help get the price down a bit.

ive been thinking about this as well. i have an ac equipped parts truck and my comanche is a hot box of sweat. i was just thinking about pulling every ac component off the parts jeep and laying it out then piecing it back together from there. ac confuses the hell out of me ive only had one vehicle were i even used it but man its nice when I'm feeling like a baby or having a female in the truck.

nice build man, I'm def diggin it. my goal was 35s and long arms so i can't wait to see what yours looks like all together. need the inspiration to finish mine up so my high monthly payment daily driver can go away and leave more jeep moneys.

well i was feeling lazy today so rather than do anything worthwhile i decided to make it look better. maybe itll give up its pieces better not that its all pretty again. its amazing what an ol country boy can do with a big hammer, some vice grips, and some big adjustable pliers. in this picture nothing is bolted on just held in to see where my fit issues would be and to see it in one piece again hasnt looked like that since 2007

i have a 68 chevy pickup we were going to put it in but its so far from finished and the engine is being stored at a friends motorcycle shop, and its just in his way. i was shopping for k5 blazers for awhile. but i really don't have the cash to purchase another project right now. :/ i wasnt even going to go v8 in the comanche till it had a big lift and strong axles but it just waiting to go in something. bad timing i guess. i can finance some more peices b.c i have a 95 xj parts truck but thats pretty much my budget on this build is what i have in extra parts on craigslist here and ebay heh. i was thinking about going ahead and bitting the bullet to get a novak radiator b.c it is a $3500 engine and id feel real bad if i grenaded it. probably throw some vents in the hood too, maybe do a home made cowl in it as well. heck i never actually use it as a truck i could do it baja style and toss a radiator in the bed. get a long travel suspension and complete the look. I'm really on the fence on this one. i know as it sits it be one hell of a sleeper on the street if i could feather it up through 1st, maybe bolt on a set of old traction bars i have laying around lol

It has a new axle! which was no fun at all, I'm working on a spot that's not exactly level that combined with the new 2inch spacers made getting the lower control arms bolted up a real fight. strained my arm and my buddy back fighting it in but we got her done. i didnt like having to finally call in backup but trying to get it in place and on a jack then lined up in the grass/mud(damn kentucky rain) proved to be more than i like to tackle. and btm i have air tools at my disposal but no compressor large enough that i can get to the back field lol I'm working about 150yards from the house and all its illustrious power. i do have a generator but with current fuel prices ill just save my money and spend my cursing. and hick92 i loled at yours don't you love it when things work out like that. i had one with an old chevy truck i was trying to pull a stump and i thought i had it cut through for the most part so i hooked up the chain pulled on it and nothing happened, then i put some slack in it to shock the stump and get it loose, well sadly both stump and bumper/hitch were stronger than my arms, and long story short the windshield can hit ya pretty hard. lol lessons learned the hard way i guess. now i just use my deuce and a half, low range first gear with all 10 tires bitting. stumps have no chance.

So i was talking to my pops and he told me that he "needs to find a home" for an engine he built for the toy hauler suburban. Its a 383 small block chevy built for torque, he estimates 400-425ft lbs. i have a comanche with a tired 4.0. i was going to swap in a 5.3 but you can't beat free! so how long do you all think it will survive with the ax-15 otherwise i may just have to say bye bye to highway speeds and toss in an sm465, but then i know my stock axles with be toast with 400ft lbs low ratios and danas. I'm thinking if i leave smallish tires on it(31x10.50) it only has a 2 inch lift, and use it primarily on the street till i get a proper driveline i should be ok. what would you all do if you were broke and got a free crazy engine. i mean his engine guy said it could make 300 ft lbs at 1500rpm so hiding from the power aint gunna happen lol i just figure let the lack of traction be king and let em burn

got a little bit done, my donor vechile haveing 344k miles and me having barely enough tools and none of that fancy air tool stuff, is really slowing me down. the 102-106 degree heat indexes havent been helping much either lol. got some stuff in the mail! lift shackles got them a bit stripped to start the day got the axle out after much sweat and blood and anger because of the lower image this is the dumbest idea ever these stupid things make me mad i hate em such a pain when the bolt is heavily rusted like on my donor vehicle soaked in pb for days and reall didnt want to come out still

My '88 LWB (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21973) is an Olympic edition and there's at least four more I know of on these forums, but this one has got to be the cleanest one I've seen yet. Nice truck! It just occurred to me that the Olympic editions only came in red, white, and blue...duh...makes sense! thats awesome, ive been MIA from this site for a few years so i can see how some would get by me.
