  1. :agree: Napa sells some nice jacks, last shop I worked at had 2 of the 3.5ton ones from napa. they weren't cheap but they worked well
  2. Its one of those cases where you get what you pay for,how much are you looking to spend?
  3. The straight arms shouldn't hit till you get to 6" of lift unless you run DBs its not the best idea but you can run stock arms up to 5" without hitting so any style aftermarket arm should be fine at 4.5"
  4. Their test tool is for filling/bleeding cooling systems without spilling, any tool truck sells them. I don't worry about the coolant fluctuating as long as its not blowing bubbles or trying to push the coolant out with the cap off.
  5. Hell creek might have quoted new rear packs were RC is just selling an AAL. I would call Tom at HC and tell him what your after,he should be able to match or beat RC retail prices.
  6. I had a black 89,it got hit in the front passenger side so the engine found its way into my sand rail. Id post some pics but something happened to a computer I had a few years ago and I lost a lot of pics. I used to visit turboford.org but the only turbo fords I have anymore are my EXPs so I pretty much stick to ford exp.com. I still really like the XR4 and will probably get another someday,I think its my love of odd cars that made the comanche so appealing.
  7. RC is ok,IMO at 3" the lift kits are so simple that it really doesn't matter were you get it. Its after 3" that you start seeing big differences in kits
  8. It must have been shortend a lot,my hood wouldn't come close to shutting when I mocked it up so I finished gutting the plenum then welded it back to the factory position. Made the IC harder to plumb but came out ok. As for your Comanche search,I would look for an 87 or newer. I wouldn't worry too much about finding everything your after because its not hard to swap in what you want.
  9. That's normal for them, they are not fast. You might call them and see if they have an ETA.
  10. :hijack: again. How did you get the hood to close with the plenum reclocked?
  11. I would start by cleaning up the battery terminals so it cranks properly.
  12. :hijack: I need to see the XR4
  13. Most people just make shock mounts but you should be able to use the factory ones. The factory mounts just bolt on under the springs.
  14. I did the same thing a few years ago, didn't take long till I was walking ok but it took about a year before I could run again.
  15. Even with 4.10s your truck will be a bit under powered and your 5th gear will be useless with 33s,also with 33s on your stock CAD axle you will be breaking axles/ujoints. Seems like your going through a lot of work to piece together a lift that won't perform very well. You should be able to get a 4"-4.5" kit fairly inexpensively Imo I would rather have a $400-$500 kit then a bunch of pieced together junk
  16. I could be wrong,I don't know 2wds real well but there were two spindle set ups. Some used regular spindles and bearings like a rwd car and some used unit bearings like the 4wd jeeps,if you have the unit bearing type (like in the pic Pete posted) I would think the brakes would be the same.
  17. If I was to do a off the shelf LA kit that triple threat kit would be at the top of my list.
  18. I would probably go rock krawler or tnt, the iron rock kit is decent and built very strong but I'm not a fan of y links.
  19. Problem is he wants to find one with 4.10s,d30s are easy to find if your looking for 3.55 or 3.07 but anything else is a bit harder to find.
  20. That bellhousing is kinda hard to find since they didn't make a lot of them with a 2.5l and 5spd. Also iirc the ax15 is taller geared so you would really want to regear. If it were me I would find a 4cyl 5spd xj and get the ax5 and leave the 231 hooked to it,its not worth the effort to do a 242 swap unless you need the full time option because other then not having full time the 231 is the better case.
  21. Good to know,I wasn't sure if the shafts interchanged.
  22. If he stays with the 2.5l would he be able to use anything but a 231 without swapping to an ax15. Can you get a 242 to hook to an ax4/5?
  23. You gonna need 5"-6" up front to match the SOA
  24. Dress it,butcher it, and stick it in the freezer. :ack: You could call animal control,if they can't take care of it they should know who can.
  25. Keep in mind that if you go 33s your gonna want to regear. As Pete said soa will give you 5-6 inches, the rear already sits higher then the front so right now I'm 6.5-7" up front to make it level. Originally I had 5" up front with soa rear and it looked ok.
