  1. Only 2x what you payed for it and you gave up. My tires alone were 3x what I payed for mine. If you put 2x what you payed for it in it and still sold it for enough to break even you couldn't have done that much to it.
  2. A 4.0l headgasket is a fairly easy one, can't think of much as far as tips. You might consider replacing the exhaust studs while the heads off, that engine is known for breaking them.
  3. Why don't they fit? Unless its an 86 only thing that I don't know about,I thought they interchange through all the years
  4. Since it sounds like you didn't do compression or leak down tests to determine the head gasket was bad I'm curious if you own a machinist straight edge to check the head. Most heads need to be within .001-.003". You can't use a regular straight edge to check it. How much water is coming out? 91 should have a conventional cooling system, have you ran it with the radiator cap off ? if its pumping water out the tail pipe you should have old faithful coming out of the radiator
  5. Unless its super cheap its kinda pointless if you don't want the axles, why buy a complete truck for the trans/t case. Fwiw if you got an entire 97 I would forget the axles you were looking at and use the 97 axles.
  6. Mine is pretty weak as well. It doesn't make sense my xj will try to cook you and my mj does its best just to defrost the windshield,I would think the opposite since the xj is heating alot more space.
  7. They look like some basic radius arms, they would be easy to make. A few guys here have made long arms but I don't know if anyone has done radius arms because they are fairly inexpensive to buy and probably the least desireable of long arm suspensions. If I were going to build long arms I would look at a 3 link or 4 link setup depending on how you use your truck.
  8. I would agree with doing both sides, having those on there might raise some questions but I think just one side would raise some red flags with potential buyers
  9. The new buyer is free to run a carfax or ask any questions they wish. Whether its right or wrong that's how the business works,Its up to the buyer to check it out before they buy it.
  10. Mnkyboy, do you actually live in Boring? "The most exciting place to live." Sure do
  11. :agree: I can't think of why you wouldn't put your location, the local guys in your area can't help you if they don't know your there. Also knowing the geographic location helps when people ask opinions on stuff, its about as bad as when someone post and doesn't include thier truck specs. "Hello I live on earth and my jeep is broken, can you tell me what's wrong with it and a good local place to buy parts?"
  12. Since you didn't put a year or specs I'm guessing your bashing every ranger ever built. I've had a few ford trucks including rangers over the years and they have always been good trucks.
  13. I would just buy one,you can pick one up for as little as $10. http://www.harborfreight.com/macpherson ... -3980.html
  14. Maybe because of the ABS? I have an 87 MJ, 94 XJ and 96 XJ. The hard line at the end of the hose has a different bend in it, but the same hookup and I have found them to be interchangeable. Right now the MJ uses a 89XJ D30 with 92 knuckles and brakes and 95 YJ hoses. I got those 95 YJ hoses when it was still the all original 87 D30. Maybe it is the abs, I looked at my 90xj with abs and it looks the same as my 94xj abs axle. On my 89 non abs the hoses mounted on a different side of the caliper.
  15. Just go get a cheap spring compressor and they will come right out. The compressor will also help a lot when you reinstall them.
  16. The brake hose should not be the same. the fittings should be completely different and non compatable. The hoses for my 89 d30 where completely different from my 94 d30.
  17. Brakes shouldn't matter,I have an abs d30 in my mj and everything works great. The only thing I can think of is the brake lines will hook up different at the caliper so you will need to use the later brake lines.
  18. What are you trying to accomplish with the lift? The best lift is gonna depend on a number of things like how you plan to use your truck, what type of terrain, and what size tire you want to use.
  19. I went from ome coils to rc coils and didn't notice much difference in ride. I also think the rc coils flex better then people give them credit for.
  20. Isn't a new fan about $30? Why not just replace it?
  21. As cheap as hp d30s are I wouldn't even consider trying to use any wrangler d30s, yj 30s are all disco axles and would take more effort to convert then its worth. Tj axles bolt in but they are low pinion making them weaker then a stock xj axle. I would hold out for a big ujoint non disco hp30,its the strongest of the 30s and not very hard to find.
  22. I've fixed the same problem in a couple XJs
  23. Not till 87
  24. Another option is to find a fab shop or get a friend with a tubing bender. Check craigslist,a lot of guys who have benders for their race cars and such will post on their for side work. Or you could post on there looking for one of these guys.
