  1. Yes, the triangles come off revealing the stuff to mount the other mirror. I can't remember for sure how they come off but I don't think they pry off. Seemed it hat screws or something but I'm drawing a blank.
  2. I pulled some off an xj in the junk yard for $10 My truck started life with the big truck mirrors then went to some sport mirrors then to xj mirrors
  3. Do you have details on how you tucked your up/modded it? I pretty much just cut the tube from the brackets and moved it up then welded it back together. As for the brake calipers I have a 94 axle in my MJ,my stock hoses wouldn't fit my 94 calipers so I had to use the 94 hoses till I got my extended hoses.
  4. Should be bolted on,so you shouldn't need a torch. It was meant to go under the bumper so it hangs down a lot. I cut mine and moved it up several inches so it doesn't hang up on stuff but I also don't have a factory bumper.
  5. Some people do build them and they can be quite peppy,I saw a twin turbo GM 2.8 somebody stuck in a Datsun 510 that was pretty nasty. Also the later mpfi 2.8Ls are a huge improvement over the carbed engine in the MJ/XJ. A 2.8l 5spd equipped comaro/firebird could hold its own with the 305 carb&tbi cars of the time .
  6. I know. Why should he. He made his point up front. Clearly. Yet we carry it on. Knowing that we decided to discuss it for him, aren't we helpfull.
  7. Make sure there is nothing in the bolt holes,I've seen guys throw the bolts in without cleaning the holes and get false torque readings. I would also replace the bolts or at least mesure them for strech.
  8. I've wondered about this too.

    My new MJ!

  10. Truth. Problem with that statement is it could apply to about anything. Replace the word jeep with anything man made and its still true.
  11. I put headers on a saleen, wasn't bad other then having to lift the engine As for broken exhaust studs I've replaced/extracted them on lots of engines but never a crown vic. I will say its probably a far more common problem in jeeps
  12. How late is the build date of the truck? If it was built late enough it could have came with the 92 stuff.
  13. I think 2dr xj flairs will fit
  14. I don't think there are any aftermarket, most guys hit the junk yard. If you have the board or can find one they are very easy to recover Cost me about $40 to do mine
  15. You said in another post that other then hard starting and steam in the exhaust the engine ran and revved fine, when you bought the truck you talked about it starting in under a crank and you didn't say anything about it running bad, smoking, knocking ,ect.... Now all of a sudden you think the engine is blown, since you already got all the parts why don't you replace the headgasket and see what happens If you worried about a bent rod, which is unlikely just roll the engine over and make sure all the pistons have the same deck height.
  16. I am a mechanic and I've owned many fords.
  17. Being a Ford guy that happens to like jeeps i don't get the Ford bashing, over the years I've owned many Ford vehicles. I currently own 5 Fords. They make some great cars and trucks and I've had great luck with them over the years. Ive found them to be very reliable
  18. The 20 is about the strongest oem axle you can get, so I would keep it.
  19. Mine came with no bumper so I made a rolled pan for it.
  20. Any mj/xj dana 30 will work, your problem is gonna be gears. 4.10s came in some 2.8L trucks like yours and in 2.5l 5spd trucks. Most of the axles you will find will be from 4.0l trucks and will be 3.55 or 3.07
  21. What exactly is blown about your engine? if you already have all the parts for the top end it wouldn't cost much more to go through the bottom end unless it has major damage
  22. Mine would be hard for you to price out as its a mixture of stuff. The original kit was an rro kit which is now on my xj. I have RC 6.5" coils I found on ebay $90 iirc RC adj uppers and lowers w/6 flex joints,$300 at hell creek RRO track bar (for now) came in kit but about $120 RRO soa kit $110 you could do this much cheaper Chevy 2wd brake lines $25 RRO long travel shocks $125 I made my own drop brackets,so you would have to figure that out. I also made my own sway bar discos Now that's about what I payed,I'm sure prices have changed a little
  23. That 3m VHB tape is some good stuff. That's what they use to hold the wall panels on cargo trailers to get that smooth look instead of screws. Its amazing how strong the stuff is as long as its put on correctly.

    New dude

Keep looking you will find a nice MJ. we are lucky here in the NW,MJs aren't hard to find here.
  25. Problem with RE is they are way over priced, for far less then $1200 you could put together the same lift. That kit is basically what's under my mj except mines an inch taller and I have adjustable uppers/lowers with flex joints,I'm not even close to $1200
