Is this a good deal?
mnkyboy replied to 1990 Pioneer 4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Seems about average, they seem to go from $100-$400. So your about middle of the road. -

Your t case is no different then the newer ones. The only XJ with full time had the 242 t case, they all came without the CAD regardless of year because if the CAD went out it would hurt the t case. All other MJ/XJ cases could care less what axle you have, you won't hurt them. So I wouldn't worry about the t case. Your problem is gonna be that you want to put a locker in an axle with weak 2 piece axles and tiny 260 u joints, the locker is gonna add a lot of stress to already weak components. If you lock the cad you can put in one piece shafts and use much stronger u joints,if your worried about control on snow and ice buy a selectable locker. -
I'm also running the RRO bolt on SOA so i went the easy route and just ordered the RRO long travel shocks, they are pretty soft and ride nice.

IMO the only thing your gonna get while wheeling with a locker,CAD,and 260 joints is a broken axle. -
Just keep looking and you will find the right MJ  I payed $400 for my 89 4x4,put less then $100 in it and put it straight into use as my DD.

I wouldn't trade,an 87 comanche can be found cheap. I would sell the toyota then pay cash for an MJ,then you can put the leftover cash into the MJ.

Why would you want the CAD to function? -
Have you asked walmart or are you assuming based on what you heard? Ive never had them refuse to install a tire.
-
I think I need new tires
mnkyboy replied to 86ComancheXNate's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IMO all terrains look lame on a jeep,MT is the only way to go This is my XJ with 31x10.5 Maxxis big horns, they are a great tire and weren't all that expensive. -
I think 1990 pioneer 4x4 is up that way.
-
Shouldn't matter as long as they can get in there to weld it. Why not just take it to a muffler shop, probably cost you $20 to have it fixed
-
It could depending on spring condition, perches used,axle,ect... Mine is 6.5"-7" up front with soa rear and it sits level.
-
You can test it,do you have a service manual for your truck? There should be troubleshooting information. What's wrong with your truck?
-
You can burn out the transistors that supply the neg signal to the injectors and the engine will still run,it just won't run on that cyl. Or could have a corroded pin or burned pathway on the board, depending which one the engine could still run.

Oh I know wasn’t that great? Go Pete! I just wish I could open this link http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11580 But I am glad that the Moderators Kept CC clean. Let me see if I am getting this.... You bought a set of full pans, and are mad that you didn't get charged for half-pans. Then, when you complained, the company stepped up to offer you a $25 store credit, or $20 back (a lot of the price difference you are complaining about to begin with), and you are still mad? I bought a half pan for $75 + $20 S&H that was supposed to be represented by a picture on the site, the pan that came was an inferior half pan (that I could have bought on eBay (see my link in the original post) for almost half the price$40 + 15 S&H. It seemed more like a bait and switch, It just seems if they are going to sell a C2C pan that is what should be represented. C2C has photos on their website....it is just a matter of proper representation. On Motions site it does say the product may vary slightly, but even the rep at motion thought it was a big difference....but they didn't feel bad enough about it to let me return it... And for you, Look do you go to walmart? or piggly wiggly? for food? or do you go straight to the farmers market and raise your own food? what about Hess? Or do you go straight to a gasoline refinery company? or even go to opec crude oil company and refine your own go go juice? what I'm trying to say is this is just how most company’s make there $. Look at Hell Creek even. They buy Rough Country lift parts and make it there own. You can’t always form an opinion off of what others say. Or get a sour taste in your mouth from one purchasing. I’ve ordered equipment for my truck from to "hated" web sights, Like Rough county and Motion Offroad. Both of witch I can't say a bad thing about. Some people just have different opinions then others. That’s my http://www.runemasterstudios.com/graeml ... ocents.gif any ways please take it as you please. Thank you Brandon When you buy from hell creek he tells you its RC parts,he doesn't give the impression or claim to have made them like motion does. Also hell creek a lot of times is cheaper on RC stuff then RC is. Sometimes supermarket selection is nice but I'm not gonna pay twice as much for the convienence, there are plenty of other retail vendors out there that won't rip you off. Lead not follow knows his stuff and is helpful on the board but I won't buy anything from his company
-
Rocky road makes alot of their own stuff instead of slapping their name on it and their prices are decent. RRO really wouldn't be a bad company if they would fix their customer service issues.
-
A lot of retail places are like that, they buy their products from the manufacture then sell them to you with a mark up. Sometimes the dealers price is lower sometimes its higher depending on what kinda price the dealer gets from the manufacture. Then you get some manufactures that only sell through dealers. The plus side to a dealer like motion is they have a large selection and you can get everything from one place, kinda like going to a grocery store.

You should open it and verify, does it still have an axle tag? If you have 3.55 someone swapped axles. The only 2.5l that got 3.55 were the 4spd trucks

2.5l 5spd should have 4.10 gears,4spds got 3.55s. I have stock exhaust with the cat removed and a flowmaster muffler,I would start with a tune up and new 02 sensor and see if that helps.- 798 replies

- 2.5l
- supercharged

What gears do you have now? If you have a 2.5l auto shouldn't you already have 4.10s or maybe 4.56s

Looking for the cheapest, yet effective lift.
mnkyboy replied to 86ComancheXNate's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't know about 86 but didn't the metric ton trucks already have the ZJ/up country spring? My old nieghbor had the metric ton package and his MJ stock sat higher then mine did stock. I looked at my 2.5l and 4.0l springs, they could be the same rate but they are definetly different. The 2.5l MJ springs are quite a bit longer but the 4.0l xj coils are thicker. -
They are more expensive then RC but less then RE, the RE DBs don't come with the braces, they cost extra making them a lot more money.

I will have to dig out my stock coils and snap some pics. I always thought they were the same till I got them side by side. My 4.0l springs are huge next to my 2.5l springs. -

mnkyboy replied to 86ComancheXNate's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Zj coils are gonna be a lot stiffer and will ride ruff. Also if you have an 86 you probably have a 2.8l or 2.5l which are gonna be a lot lighter then the 4.0 in most of these guys MJs so its gonna take less for you to get the same lift. My 4.0l xj factory coils are huge compared to my 2.5l MJ factory coils,so I don't think you would want ZJ springs -
You almost have to have them to run big tires without a huge lift. I've been running no flairs and it sucks in the rain
