  1. If he puts his renix stuff on a newer 4.0l I doubt he will gain much power, also his renix stuff won't just bolt on to a HO head so he would have to use his head which probably has a blown head gasket and maybe other issues or convert his truck to HO manifolds
  2. Its normal for it to push oil into the airbox, its a common ccv problem. Coolant in the oil would most likely be a head gasket issue, not sure I would swap the engine for either issue.
  3. You should also post these on NAXJA And make sure you check out the NAXJA NW chapter,we are pretty active and there is always something going on. Its also a great resource for parts or if you need a hand with something,I know there's a few guys in the olympia area.
  4. IMO most stock Jeeps suck, its what you can make them into that makes them cool.
  5. A tune up would be a good start,I would also change the 02 sensor
  6. Wouldn't it be less work to just bolt on some 97+ doors and swap strikers?

    I wish...

I'm the opposite,I'm happy mines a short bed.
  8. What does a bad head gasket feel like? I've done hundreds of head jobs and it takes more then a drive to determine a head gasket issue.you may get an idea from a drive but there is testing that needs done before jumping to conclusions and pulling the head. Before you pull the head you should already have a good idea where its blown and know which cylinders are affected.
  9. The t cases are clocked different but it should work fine. Some people have to massage the floor a little for extra clearance
  10. No This is what that is http://www.harborfreight.com/4-ton-heav ... 44899.html
  11. And anodized. What's the big deal? It's only your life you're risking. :wall: Don't forget about everyone else that's out on the road . Its one thing if an idiot kills himself its another thing if he takes people with him.
  12. Those are the 19# Ford/Bosch injectors
  13. You have to be careful with with words. If you say "straight edge ruler" some people will think they can use any straight edge when in fact there is a special straight edge just for checking for warpage. And you are correct specs vary by engine but in general .002 is acceptable
  14. Show me a ruler that's within .002. You use a machinist straight edge, they are about $100 and quite different from a ruler.
  15. I have 33x12.50s a 2.5l and currently 3.55 gears, mine has no problem getting on the freeway either.
  16. That's not even close to a fair comparison. My 89 MJ with 2.5 walks all over my brothers 95 YJ with 2.5
  17. You sure its not just the valve cover leaking?
  18. This was posted in your build thread, you say it runs great but then here you are saying it needs a headgasket.
  19. Because they aren't cheap and its easy to get wrong, its something that if you don't know how and you don't have an experienced person to help, you shouldn't mess with them. Swapping gears is easy, its setting them up that gets people. If they aren't perfect you will ruin the new gears.
  20. Your missing the point, even repair shops send cyl heads to head shops. Unless you have the special training and all the proper equipment your not gonna be able to do it yourself. As for your head gasket,if you have oil and water coming out of the back of your jeep you need more then a head gasket. Besides I wouldn't base it off of something like that anyway, there are tools and test required to properly diagnose the head gasket.
  21. The best way is to send it to a head shop, your not gonna be able to properly check out or repair the head yourself. You change the fluids after your done with the head job How do you know the gasket is bad?
  22. This is wrong, you can get a metric ton with a 4.0l Really? Cool, I could have sworn they can only came with the I4 and with 4.10 gears? :dunno: Brandon That's the amc20 that came in the 86 2.8l and 2.5l MJs The 87+ 44s should have the same gear options as the 35 so most are 3.07 and 3.55
  23. This is wrong,you can get a metric ton with a 4.0l
  24. Wouldn't be my first pick for a full size truck but at that price you can't go wrong. Nice find
  25. That's gonna be tough for $1000 6.5 is gonna be a bit big for 31s, you could do a 4.5" and leave it SUA then you could do 31s or 32s. A 4.5" would work with your budget the rough country 4.5" is around $500,or for even less you could do a 3" and 31s
