Another wasted day , replaced the fuel pump relay with no change . Then I pulled the dash and changed the dash harness with the extra one I had , no change . I'm exhausted . So what's the next step ? I guess look for another engine harness ?

Just got back and found nothing . There were some 94/95 xjs there also but everything was either cut and rewired or missing , sorry .

Nope never used them , but I've heard great stuff about them . I'm sure they could Taylor make you a kit , after all they're just bolts . It's worth a try ..

My fault , I told you I was going to check and I didn't . I'll go first thing tomorrow .

John : that's pretty much what happens . For those couple seconds that engine runs flawlessly , no backfiring/ sputtering etc . I have almost everything besides the harness replaced that deals with the ignition , so process of elimination points me in the same direction . I'm going to try the relay as Hornbrod suggested and see what other suggestions are mentioned and try them too . Thanks John .

Ok I'm still at this , I replaced the fuel pump with a Bosch 69302 . It had a Bosch pump in it and I believe it to be original pump being it had the factory part number on it . The rubber hose was gummed up and cracked and I thought it may have been the problem but it wasn't . Then I had a spare tail light harness and installed it to replace the one that had been hacked up for a trailer harness , still no change . I don't know what else it could be or what to check . I'm about ready to go locate another engine harness and replace it along with the extra dash harness I have . I have No problem admitting I suck at diagnosing electrical issues , I've starred at the FSM at it looks like hyroglifics to me . Any help is much appreciated , I'd like to have it running before the weather turns bad if possible .

Those two extra plugs are used for a/c .

Have someone ( or you) be under the truck while you're turning the wheel , don't run him over lol . That should help you see where it's at .

You have an 86 , in 86 they did have the weather pack terminal the later years had a different style plug . If the OP has anything other then an 86 ( maybe some 87s it won't work .

Searching craigslist I found a set of Kelly 31x10.50x15s mounted on canyon rims for $300 with excellent tread . After mounting them it was pretty evident that they looked to large for the wheel openings . It wasn't a big deal as I plan on lifting the truck with a 3 inch lift . I already had a brand new mopar 3/2 metric ton spring and the passenger side had a broken leaf anyhow along with the main leaf having some good wear as well .all I had to do was buy one for the other side . Here is a picture before the springs and tires . And after ,

I still have 5 pairs left last time I looked . I can always have more made if needed.

Hornbrod is correct , on the xj the vent hose is on the other side and the whole neck is longer . What's wrong with yours , rusted ?

I believe cherokee ones are the same .
