First of all , thanks to all that have replied . I see the general census is to move which for me will be a tough pill to swallow but hopefully for the better and a lot of things need to set in motion for it to happen . I think it would make it easier to move out to CO if I had people like Jim , Ben , Troy and all the other jeep people as well living out there and there will always be everyone on the CC . This I'm sure will take months of planning do I'll be sure to keep everyone updated . Thanks again

Thanks Pete, you bring up a lot of good points . I know that I'm not the first nor will I be the last person that is in this situation and maybe the lack of jobs is a sign to maybe start all over again , who knows . I wish I knew for sure what the future holds but if I knew that I'd play the lottery lol. It's not like I'm ready to leave tomorrow , so I'm going to see how I feel after some time of thinking more . The only part I disagree with is finding rust free jeeps , between yellaheep and Jim I think they've dried up that well lol. Thanks Pete .

I'm not sure where to start or if This is the place but here it goes as I need to write this down and value a lot of people's advice / knowledge on here : As some people already know I lost my job along with 300 other people , my last day of work was June 27th . I live in Youngstown Ohio and both the job market and wage are poor here I was making roughly $27 an hour which was great and the place I worked for shut their doors ( I didn't quit or get fired )it was physically demanding but I enjoyed the majority of the job . I've been looking for a job with no luck , even applied for several jobs that are an hour plus away . I've been looking to go back to school for something different and I can even apply for a grant for any in demand job ,but most don't apply to this area . I have one brother that lives in Denver Colorado that most likely will be getting married in the next year and he has asked our mother last week to move out there which will leave me as the only in all our family left in Ohio as it's just myself , my mom , my brother and cousin that are still alive . I was also asked to move there today and it's all that is occupying my mind right now . Moving cross country , leaving friends ,finding new friends , starting over , my house is paid off but eventually I want another , no car payments , I'm single , cost of living in Denver , cost of moving , finding the right house that's not HOA etc etc . I don't classify myself as a pick up and move person , but I don't see a solid future here either and kind of feeling overwhelmed . I'm of course not looking for a pity party , but advice from outsiders or maybe someone that's been in the same situation and when you look back was it worth it or do you regret it ? I know it's really up to me but it may help aid in my decision . Thanks in advance .

Engine starts then dies
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I might as well try that tomorrow anyhow , it's worth a shot . Thanks for the reply . I don't know why the engine starts and then dies right away because the relay isn't getting any power at pin 30 -
Engine starts then dies

Should I have someone try to start the truck while I'm checking the wires at the relay ? I checked all these wires with the key both on and off . -
Engine starts then dies
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So today I unplugged the plugs at the ignition switch and plugged them in to the extra switch I had and no change . Started checking at the fuel pump relay and something seems off . 90 xj wire colors 86 yellow wire getting constant power 30 red wire no power 87 orange wire getting ground 85 blk wire with orange trail , no ground or power until the test light is grounded on the battery and makes contact with this wire but is a very faint light and the relay clicks and still will not start . -
If you can swing it I'd go with the Bosch pump, the airtex pumps are poor quality . There is a locating tab for the screen / strainer on the lower ring of the fuel sender , between the force of the strainer being pushed on the pump and slightly crimping the locating tab it will stay in place just fine . Bosch , Delphi , AC delco , carter , precision then airtex . are my opinion from best to worst pumps . There are other brands I'm sure but that's my personal experience .

Engine starts then dies
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes I did , and I forgot to mention it's a new mopar resistor too -
Some background info : It's an 88 manual nv3550 with a 4.0 ( actually 4.7 stroker ) , 89 dash harness out of manual a 2.5 mj ,engine harness and all electronics from a manual 2 dr 90 xj . I've done 1-14 , 18 and 23 of Cruisers tips so far . New parts include mopar high altitude CPS, plugs , wires , cap , rotor , ICM , coil , knock sensor , 746 Bosch injectors , new battery cables , new supplemental ground wires ran , new ignition switch and adjusted properly . I'm getting 31 psi and 39 psi of fuel pressure . The engine cranks normally and fires but only runs for a second or two but then shuts down with no sputtering and can repeat this over and over with the same results . I've cleaned the ground behind the left tail light and swapped the fuel pump relay with other known good one . What should I check for next ? Maybe I've overlooked something but I've went over everything listed above . Thanks in advance .

Anyone with a WJ should read this ...
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in The Pub
So I guess the hot tip for WJ owners without hitches is to go on Craigs List, find a cheap universal hitch, slap it on and call for your $100 gift card and free factory hitch "replacement." I made an appointment at the local dealer for sept 22 and asked the service manager to explain the letter I got in the mail a bit better . If you have a factory hitch they check to make sure that there is no structural issues with either the frame or the hitch , if all is good they leave it alone and you get $100 prepaid card . If you have an aftermarket hitch they check the frame , if all is good with the frame they replace the hitch and you get the prepaid card . If there is no hitch , they check the frame and install a hitch and you get the prepaid card . This is what my local dealer is doing , other dealers may interpret the letter differently .. -

Nice truck Eagle !! I'm glad I finally get to see it -
I agree with 64 Cheyenne then . If they were 97+ doors I think they'd be worth more .

Not really much of an update but the battery cables and the heater hoses are done, so I finally have power to the truck . Going through all the power functions I found that when turning on the left turn signal the flasher starts out at normal speed , slows down an pops the signal fuse so I guess I have one more thing that I have to fix and I hate electrical troubleshooting . I've got a friend that works at a local glass company and I asked him a couple weeks ago if he had a windshield for a Comanche , so I got a call this morning saying he had one that was never installed because the windshield was slightly distorted . I didn't care as long as the distortion wasn't in the line of sight and it wasn't . I only had to pay for the urethane and his time and he put it in today . Here it is installed Ended up giving the truck a quick buff job , it is hard to make the upper half shine with no clear lol. The wheels the truck came with are pretty faded and the tires are dryrotted too so I had a couple extra sets of wheels but am undecided as to which ones to use . Which wheels do you guys think look better ?
-
I had discoverer Ht's on my Nissan exterra , they were good tires for on road use but I didn't get many miles out of them but my exterra was a heavier vehicle iirc about 30k .
-
I remember a thread a month or two ago ? Where you had extra/ parts vehicles and wondering what to get rid of , any of those have good tires / wheels ? The 15 inch rims would greatly expand the selection of new tires that you could choose from, or if you currently have anything with good tires you could run those until finances get better . I pray your daughter gets better ..
