  1. Its understandable, I cringe to think how much my already limited mental capacity would shrink if I drove one of those. Just go drive your MJ and you'll feel better, you're muscles will grow and you'll also receive the normal ancillary benefit of a small testosterone boost just from looking at it.
  2. Nice pics Sam. I went there in 97', tore up the rainbows at Yellowstone lake with this U shaped lure. http://www.rapala.com/Super-Duper/Super ... lt,pd.html. Sorry no pics but I caught several in the 18" +/- range. Odd, they never touched a Rooster Tail or Salmon eggs which were successful for me in AK, but they just gobbled up this silly little metal lure.
  3. Key words right there....Women are strange creatures. They don't have to know or care how awesome the Pentastar is but if she likes it, then get it! You'll reap the benefits later. Plus the math makes sense, for instance, "Babe, I just paid over 30K for your JK, you ought to at least allow me to "invest" a few more bucks in my MJ".
  4. My brother, come clean asap! what the heck are you doing to your beloved MJ,,,,,,I'm starting to get a bit confused.
  5. Good Points. Muhammad Ali was great at convincing people he was the greatest. He never took a dive and fought every contender in the highly talented 1970s heavyweight division, unlike a guy he fought that I believe was better...Sonny Liston. Sonny was a bad, bad man, but he obviously took a dive, after destroying Floyd Patterson he was still game.... there's a reason its called the "phantom punch". On that note, some of the guys Ali fought would have murdered Tyson, like Ken Norton, George Foreman, heck, I'd even put my money on Tex Cobb in that one. Sugar Ray Leonard was good, but he never lived up to his namesake Sugar Ray Robinson. None the less he was one of our greatest fighters for sure. I guess I posted this after being frustrated watching these sportscasters who don't know a lick of history interview these new athletes and allow them to boast without checking their egos. For all around athleticism there are only a few who achieved world class levels of success. I didn't know about Bo Jackson's track records but it doesn't surprise me. He and Jim Thorpe have got to be in the top five holy grail-esque athlete club if there ever is one. Here's my top five, taken from a shade tree poll of an audience in my backyard that consisted of only me, based on the following criteria: 1. Most sports played successfully at the highest level. 2. Because I like them. 1. Jim Thorpe 2. Bo Jackson, only because he never went to the Olympics, or he'd be first,,,,most definitely the best in modern times. 3. Dione Sanders 4. Jack Johnson, the prototypical modern heavy weight fighter....never would have been defeated but he took a dive for Jess Willard in the 26th round of a 45 round fight in 1915. 5. Babe Ruth, if he never hit a home run, he still would have been elected to the hall of fame for his pitching. No other pitcher has even come close to what he did. Honorable Mentions in no particular order: Michael Jordan Lance Armstrong ...and because I'm partial to boxing and the level of fitness required: Jack Dempsey Rocky Marciano Roberto Duran Sugar Ray Robinson Willie Pep Ali Joe Louis Emile Griffith, he actually killed opponents in the ring.
  6. One of my coworkers did a good act of revenge...he filled up a guys car with Styrofoam shipping peanuts, really funny.
  7. His name is Jim Thorpe. Now after the close of the Olympics...no one can take anything away from Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, or any other modern athlete. But there are rumblings of them possibly being greatest athlete ever. Bolt set a record and is pumping his chest, and Phelps has the most medals...that's something no one can taken away from them ever, just like Buster Douglas has the honor of being the first to defeat Mike Tyson, no one else could do that. But do those accomplishments bestow the right to be called the "best athlete ever"? I don't think so. There are few greats,,,anyone remember a guy from Alabama named Bo Jackson? For that matter Deion Sanders? Deion was great too despite what you think about him....they were both absolutely great....but they were all specialists in their sports. In pure toughness and endurance, there's Dean Karnazes and a few other serious ultra-marathoners who could run for days on end. Does anyone remember the name Terry Fox? But they're still single sport athletes, runners. Anyway....guess I'm writing this to give a shout out for an Olympic decathlete and pentathlete champion, some of the toughest overall athletic tests, but he was also a professional football and baseball player, and even a basketball player,,,then he served in WWII.... No one in the media remembers an American native named Jim Thorpe anymore....shame. He's a guy American Indians and all Americans should shout out next time someone claims to be the best athlete ever. There's no living athlete that can hold a candle next to Jim Thorpe.
  8. I could use some, I only have one, and like Comanches, you just can't have one.
  9. This is a drool worthy truck!.....plus the silver stars on black make it look perfect!
  10. Yup, exotic and expensive cars do not impress me. But Jeeps and exotic and expensive women do.
  11. Yes, its plug and play easy.
  12. 3.73s IIRC were only available in 2.8L powered MJs/XJs. This is the first axle swap I did on my MJ. I found a front HP D30 with 3.73s under an 84' XJ. Just scour the yards and check the diff tags under all the 84'-86' XJs you can find.
  13. The engine and wiring won't be a plug and play install, you're looking at a custom harness. Probably best just to find a later XJ with the 2.5. But, if you've got the engine available and that's all you've got to work with, I'd call up Centech or Painless and get a quote from them. They can make a custom harness for you. http://www.centechwire.com/catalog/jeeps/wiring.html http://gopainlesswiring.com/ I do like the TJ steering wheels, I imagine the steering wheel itself could be made to work on a later Chrysler XJ steering column. Sir Sam is the resident expert on steering wheel wiring.
  14. If everything is properly bled, then I'd agree with Harley....I'd have to say its the booster.
  15. IIRC, there are no 21 spline AX15s, BA/10s were 21 spline.
  16. I agree with Pete, the easiest upgrade is the V8 ZJ components. But if you want to get rid of the inverted Y set up, I'd go with some sort of cross over steering. Have you considered swapping WJ components? They're 5"x5" but better brakes and true cross-over steering. Lots of info out there on this swap. I understand why you don't want OTK, it can cause a host of issues. The first is bumpsteer since you change the relationship between the drag link and the track bar. It may interfere with the sway bar mounts also. But its still a cheaper option than the two kits you're looking at. You'll need to drop the frame side of the track bar, or raise the axle end mounting point to get them parallel again. Then you only need a right hand drive drag link (p/n #52006592) and the knuckle inserts...http://www.goferitoffroad.com/products.htm. Here's a good write up from our friend Marcus down under, just scroll down to the "Steering Modification" section: http://www.jeep-xj.info/ Here's the kit on my MJ, but in hindsight, I think I would have gone with something else...http://www.downeastoffroad.com/HTML/HIGHSTEER.htm
  17. Did you bleed the Master Cylinder? It must be bled or you'll never have brakes. You can bench bleed them or just install, fill, then use two extra hard lines and bend them over into the MC reservoir. Pump until there's no more bubbles. Then bleed each corner again. There's a trick to bleeding the brakes on an MJ due to the rear proportioning valve....lots of topics on it here.
  18. We confiscated and gave out tons of AK variants in Iraq. The lowest quality versions I saw were the Yugoslavian and Chinese versions. Russian and American made are the best, the Romanian versions weren't too bad. Chinese versions are stamped junk, they were the worst.
  19. Good buy, check out Cheaperthandirt.com, I'm sure they've got goodies for it.
  20. Non-UC V8 coils will net 1-1.5" on a 4.0L MJ, maybe 2" on a 2.5L MJ. UC V8 Coils will offer an inch more than Non-UC coils. ZJs with the UC package can be identified by the the tow hook package front and rear, a sticker in the rear drivers quarter window (often missing), sachs shocks (black 96'-98', blue 93'-95', mounted upside down with boots), and the complete skid plate package (front, TC, gas tank). All Orvis ZJs came with the UC package. It was special order on all other ZJs, but was not available on the 5.9L ZJs. When looking at the front coils, often the factory sticker with the part number is still there, it may be dirty but clean it off and confirm the part number. You're looking for p/n 52088363 for front V8 coils. Also, the rear coils for the Up Country package are the same for the V8 or 4.0 I6. http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/techarticl ... grade.html
  21. Weed eater string is good for cleaning out the dried up carbon in the valve cover line. Mildly bend the line to break up the carbon, not too much if its brittle. Spray carb cleaner in it, then feed the weed eater string all the way through the line. Then more carb cleaner to push any remnants out.
  22. You guys are freaking smart. I learn something every time I log on.
