Seriously examine the engine wiring harness. Look closely for cracks around the injectors and sensors. When one of my 5.9s starting acting crazy this is what it turned out to be.

Iāve been too busy to do much Jeep work lately, Iāve been farming out most all of the maintenance on the family Jeep fleet lately. Iām probably gonna have a shop prep the accessories for this engine and source a lower intake so I can fit it under the stock hood. Looking at kiwk performance for a accessory package and Iām really close to getting that Holley intake system for it. Might have a guy on FB do the harness... the Harness swap shop, Novak mounts, headers and Radiator. LSs are new to me :) so Iām trying to figure it all out. Been driving nothing but Jeeps for the last 20 some years. Kwikperf.com

Iāve got a LM7, auto and TC from a 03ā Chevy truck, With the harness and computer. I really donāt want an auto or the electric shifted transfer case. Id prefer to keep the Jeep transmission, I have a 4:1 241J and spare AX15s. An NV4500 and 241J would be better though. Anyway, behind a 5.3 in an MJ what transmission would you prefer? Who else has done this swap? The MJ has full width 44/60 axles and 4.10 gears, will run on 35ā or 37ā Maxxis bias ply tires. Old pic. :)

I went to the JY today, first time in a long time, stripped down a 92ā XJ and it was like a zen experience...the JY has always been my happy place. 18 months ago the wife and I opened a restaurant and I havenāt had time to do anything but work since then. Currently own 4 MJs, 2 XJs, 1 KJ, 2 ZJs, 1 WK, a CJ3A and a TJ, only 4 are road worthy....need to get back to CC cause itās fun and motivating and much like the JY, itās a Zen place for me. :)

Stroker NO Start now
Comanche County replied to dragordie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Something else to double check, its very easy to mis-stab the dizzy. One tooth off could be the prob... Follow Moses Ludel's steps, they're easy... "NoteāOn 1991-up MPI engines, the 2.5L distributorās rotor faces slightly past 3 oāclock when aligned with #1 cylinderās spark wire leadānot 6 oāclock as with the 1986-90 2.5L TBI engines. Start the 2.5L MPI distributor with the oil pump tang near 10 oāclock to place the rotor at slightly past 3 oāclock with the distributor housing seated. On MPI 4.0L engines, align the oil pump tang near 11 oāclock to place the distributor rotor at 5 oāclock with the distributor housing seated. All settings reflect #1 piston at TDC on its compression stroke." -
I have one of those now, a 1917 Model T Delivery truck. It rides better than a new Cadillac on a wash board dirt road.

88 comanche with 87 gn 3.8 turbo engine.
Comanche County replied to gnx1117's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've been considering this for an MJ. I've been collecting Buick parts for a couple years now for my Willys. I have 3 complete Buick V6 engines and 2 others that have been stripped (cored the blocks) in the garage right now, One is a 80' carbureted draw through turbo engine, two NA engines and a hot air 84' GN "engine". Which is everything but the block. The 86'-87' intercooled cars still command too much money to make this swap viable. But take out motors do pop up from time to time on the turbo buick forums. The 84'-85' hot air cars are cheaper, and I think would be the easiest to install due to less piping. The main challenge with any year GN engines (84'-87') is engine management and knock control. Something else to consider is transmission choice. Buick wasn't in the 4x4 business, so depending on the transmission of choice, you'd end up with at least one adapter, maybe two, one on both ends of the trans. I couldn't find a unibell TH350 like I wanted, but found a couple of BOP 350s. Turbobuick.com and Beforeblack.net are great sites for Buick tech and history. -
Nice!!!
