  1. I plan on trying a set of Treadwrights pretty soon.....Was thinking of the 31 ATs for the Wifey's Cherokee. Anyone tried their AT tires? Also, is it possible to send in your own cores for them to retread? I wish they still made 35s & 37s.
  2. Yep, gotta 84' Dana 30 from a XJ Reekee under mine.
  3. New rear main seal, oil pain gasket, and valve cover gasket.....I also sprung for the HO SAE style oil filter adapter and dumped the metric threads and Frams forever!!!! Oil pressure is now up to 50 psi on a cold start up, runs at 40-45 on the highway and idles at 20 when warm. I said oil 'pain' gasket, cause it was frickin leaking again..... I retorqued the pan, we'll see if it works. I found these informative sites here of course --- See: http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/te ... version.ht
  4. :agree: I stay away from the hard stuff 'casue -- Liquor Makes Me Brave --  :shake: Beer!!!!! It makes you bigger, stronger, faster, better lookin, boosts testosterone, did I say it makes you bigger?
  5. I've got Monroe Sensatracs on the front of my 89. I believe they are the rear shocks from a 95 F1/250ish truck. Monroe Sensatrac p/n 37134. My truck is lifted though, they aren't a stock replacement. The fancy shocks at 4wheelparts were outrageous so I went to Napa and browsed their catalog for an hour till I found some long enough. I used some bar pins off some old shocks to make em work. They ride great, I like em, nothing special but "perfection is the enemy of good enough". I don't have a good picture of them, but I think they have about 11" of travel and are 28" fully extended....
  6. most likely a Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear. There are a lot of sites the have this info. Check out: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Sus ... Ratios.htm
  7. My wife said we're all a bunch of wackos with the same obsession. I have no idea what the heck she's talking about????? :huh???:
  8. Hornbrod, dang good idea! :clapping: I'm doing it!
  9. Cool, I was B Co with the Cotton Balers for OIF III and a Raider BDE staff chump for OIF V.
  10. Yeah, I know, I stuck with the 3.73 LS because it was complete with welded tubes and it cost me only $100 I'll get around to better gears when wifey approves, or until I've got the guts to buy one anyway and ask for forgiveness later. Plus it helps with the 30 mile commute, I get 16-17 mpg with 33's.
  11. Stick with the Explorer versions, stay away from Rangers and Mustangs (some have the good 31 spline shafts some don't). IIRC 95 and up come with discs, anything before that is drums. My 8.8 is a 92 with welded tubes and 96 discs. My leafs were in great shape, when I did the SOA I got 7-8 inches, Had to go with 6.5" coils and 2" spacers and RE drop brackets to make it look level, I drove around for a while with my @@s end way up there. Now it rides great it will do 75mph (downhill only) and not a hint of driveline vibes or deathwobble. Also put in a SYE and double cardan & CV rear driveshaft. I've heard urban legends that there is also a stock Explorer that came with 4.56s and LS. I've never seen one though and have scrounged every JY in the Denver area. I sure wasted a lot time looking when I could've been doing this --
  12. yep C-Clips, got one in my 89, took it to Crawler Tech to have them weld the perches on. I went back to the JY and found some Discs and slapped those on afterward. There are tons of sites out there on the 8.8 conversion: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... er8_8.html http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/ford88.html - I did my E-Brake cables like this site depicts....took me a couple of days to figure it out :wall: , then saw his site,,,,,wrap the cable around the E-Brake lever and use a cable clamp....duh :dunce: But it still ain't that tight. first picture I've posted, lets see if it works...
  13. yep, by Hineytown, I was stationed at Ft Stewart, but now enjoying the civilian life up in the jeep-rich territory of CO. its changed, there's high-diving and a bunch of birds involved in that dolphin show, including a finale some kinda Condor. Much larger than any Eagle, stork, goose or anything with feathers I've seen.
  14. Definitely take the kids to see the Dolphin show at Sea World...its a spectacle. I got a house still in Richmond Hill, GA. Coastal GA is absolutely great!
  15. OK, I picked up my 89 Pioneer in Littleton, CO back in June with 188K, Its now about 8 inches higher with a bunch of stuff on it,,,,I'll get around to posting my JY/CL supplied build later (I've got dial up, you understand don't you,,,,they should pay me for frickin dial up). I've got an extra 89 4.0L that I'll get around to turning into a stroker,,,,just can't find a 258 anywhere. Until then I'll just run it until it doesn't want to play anymore, I've currently got 193K on it, it runs great, oil pressure is a little low about 23-35 lbs on the highway depending on engine temp, 18-20 at idle. Rear main is leaking like a drunk drooling at the bar, and the head gasket is leaking a little on the pass side. I'm going to put in a new rear main and oil pan gasket, probable a HV pump while I'm there and re-torque the head..... I'm now starting to think I should take my time on the stroker build and shoot for 250-300K on the original renix 4.0L. How many miles does your MJ have??????
  16. Yeah, I love JYs, its like going to the museum, only cooler!!!!
  17. Sure, I'm in Morrison, CO........
  18. Cool, I'll have to swing by Western Recycler's tomorrow. BTW, there was a grey SWB at Sidewinder's in Commerce City, it had a topper on it, pretty much stripped now  , also a four cyl LWB at the PullnSave on 33rd (the 4.11 front axle is gone, but the tail gate is in decent shape ;) , there is also a four cyl white SWB at the Pull n Pay on Broadway, not sure of its status, I already pulled the tailpipe.... :brows: . Also there's an XJ limited 89 with leather seats at the Pull and Pay on 33rd.
