I carry everyday everywhere I go, I pray I never have to pull it, it will only be the absolute last resort, taking a life is no easy thing. If I am in a situation where I have to pull it, I will not hesitate one second to use it. My brother was car jacked in Ft. Worth, he came out of it okay but he lost his car, all his electrician tools and couldn't work for several weeks. If it were me, there would have been two dead crack heads. I'm glad it wasn't me.

It has the factory tow package, should be a D44.

The sport of boxing is dying because there is no true champion....there are mostly money hungry promoters and fighters enslaven to them. There are no fighters of truth and integrity except for a few like the Klitschkos.

Floyd has made a career of dodging any threat in their prime. His record of no losses is empty compared to Marciano's, Dempseys, Johnson's, I could go on and on. Marciano once fought 15 straight rounds with Joe Walcott and they never even had a single break....they threw punches the entire fight. Floyd has never done that. Floyd is nothing but a paper tiger just like the rest of his gangster rapper posse....he's a woman beating dirtbag who has been dodging the best opponents his whole career. Yes, he fought Dela Hoya, after he was older.......in defense of Oscar, he never dodged anyone, ever!!! Oscar Dela Hoya fought every single elite level fighter of his time, that's something the wife beating dirtbag Mayweather hasn't done. The truth in boxing is "style makes fights", and Mayweather has been avoiding Pacquiao for far too many years now because he knows Manny's style will be his Waterloo.

Well good on you for not selling or junking your MJ. They're good looking trucks and will always have a fan base. Unlike you, I've had very little issues with mine since I bought it. Its never failed me....except when I ran it out of gas, once in a snow storm in CO and that 5 mile walk almost killed me. Anyway, don't get too frustrated. There's no problem that's insurmountable, especially since we've got a lot of true experts on the CC board.

That's cool. Hang on to all of them!

No guarantees but if I can make it up there I will!

I'm more leery of death by bee stings, lightning strike or shark attack then I am of flying chain debris. Rollovers, vehicle fires, brake and mechanical failures are far more danerous and likely. The dangers of chain usage can be mitigated by laying blankets, floor mats, or any draping any other loose object over the chain. You're supposed to do this on a winch cable for the same reason, as well as a strap. I don't think I'd kick someone out of a trail party just because they had a chain with them. That's just rude and narcissistic.

Ya, i guess i got a little carried away. Its just when i read what you, put . . . , i was thinking where in the world would i find those? You can get one at any auto parts store. They're really cheap. http://comancheclub.com/topic/37167-loose-steering-wheel-fix/

so how would one convert their AC to OBA? my system has a leak and the compressor is still good. There are tons of threads about converting your AC compressor to an air compressor.....after all, that's exactly what an a/c compressor is,,,,its just an air compressor as is any internal combustion engine. I'm currently using a renix A/C compressor for an onboard air compressor. This is just the beginning, I'm using an old Rigid 150 psi compressor for the tank which will be mounted under the bed where the spare tire mounts.

The old Willys flathead 134s were sold as air pumps, they used the center two cylinders as the compressor and the engine ran on the outer (#1 & #4) cylinders and it remained balanced enough to run. They were called the Hesse Hornet. Hobart also used them as generators. I think its a plausible idea to run one cylinder temporarily as a pump, but like mentioned above, its easier to convert your AC compressor to an air compressor.....that's what an AC compressor is anyway, just an air pump. Its a really easy DIY job.

Good Luck! Hope you win some sort of prize...either way,,,hanging out on a Battleship with 16" guns is awe inspiring. I got to do some work on the Oklahoma before it went to museum status. Lord, those ships are something else!

Good points on safely recovering. The difference between grade 5 and grade 8 is about 20% for tension and shear. If grade 5 is gonna break getting a vehicle out, then grade 8 probably would too. Grade 8 isn't more brittle, that's a myth. They stretch just like grade 5 will when they reach limit of their weight bearing capacity. Just seems like they snap easier. http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/fasteners/index.asp Rule one of recovery is to recover the vehicle in the easiest direction. Once a vehicle is stuck, the recovery shouldn't be to get over an obstacle, it should be to get the vehicle rolling again in the easiest direction which is usually backwards. Chains are getting a bad rap here though. I always have a chain in the truck (and three straps). Proper sized chains are fine when used correctly....just don't get em as tight as a guitar string and keep pulling on an object that's obviously not going to move. And yanking is a bad idea no matter how you're attached, chain or not. Chains are used for securing all sorts of supersized loads on rail and sea. How many times have you seen an oversized 20-50K or heavier load on an 18 wheeler secured with only four chains? We secure 70 ton main battle tanks with chains when we line haul them. A proper sized chain is just fine for a jeep sized vehicles that have wheels and can roll. Just don't be stupid with it. The problem with chains, is people usually go too small. Just like when a head bolt is stretched once they should be replaced and not reused, so should chains when they've been abused and stretched. Same thing goes for straps and synthetic ropes. They get frayed, are easily abraded, and get a lot of friction burns and they should be replaced frequently after heavy pulls or abuse. Not to mention they're easily victim to the various automotive chemicals and oils that are bouncing around our rigs and they're a crapload more expensive. Yes there is a danger of snapback with chains, but its not as bad as winch cable. Whatever is used, it needs to be used properly, not abused and regularly inspected and replaced if necessary.

Pat is dead on....don't waste your time and money. Look for an 89' and up for your AX-15 donor. That isn't an AX15. -
Hey I'm A New Member, Just Got My Comanche, Please Hit Me Up
Comanche County replied to jeepmarine312's topic in The Pub
For local Jeepin', look on facebook for two groups. Georgia Jeepers and the Low Country Mud Rats. The mud rats are the local club around Savannah, we make two runs to Durhamtown Plantation to wheel every year which is close to you, and we'll be heading down to Daytona for Jeep Week in a few days. -
IIRC, a 71' should have a 30 splined D44 and lots of parts that interchange with CJs.

Good for you man!

Get underneath the MJ and check all the brake lines.!!!!

Comanche Of The Month - April 2013

Exactly, Clean and Classic,,,,long live the turbines! -
MPG maybe? But if the TQ figures are that bad, he will probably stay the same if not lose mpg. MPG maybe at slower non-highway speeds, but I'm still skeptical, especially considering the cost of diesel over gas. Just basing my opinion on Kubota's specs from their website...http://www.kubotaengine.com/products/03m/v2203_m_e3.html.

Its a novel idea, but even the turbo 4cyl kubotas don't come close to meeting the 4.0's hp or torque figures. They're a decent replacement in early flatfender jeeps as they offer only marginal gains over the WWII L head and are about the same size and weight. 3 cyl non turbos don't offer anything more and rev to a max of about 2.5K rpm, 4cyl turbos rev about the same but offer about 150 lbs of torque, still its nothing close to a 4.0L....not good if you want to drive on the highway.... Its not a new swap. Plenty of Ranger and S10 folks have done it,,,but for a cherokee, I just don't see what he's gaining.

Found Something Familiar On Craigslist Today

That's kinda steep for an asking price IMO. But he did a lot of great mods to it.
