  1. Very clean OBA install! I will be borrowing some of your ideas for mine :)
  2. Simplicity is why you don't see many 9" swaps. They are generally full width with a different bolt pattern than stock. It's kind of like asking why nobody only swaps a 14bolt in the rear. Full width and different bolt pattern. However, I see no reason why somebody wouldn't use a 9" if they had access to it and had a matching front axle ;)
  3. I am usually astonished at the selling price for built rigs on pirate, so I assume the value I come up with is low. I would say $15-20k to the right person. If it was on built one tons, $20-25.
  4. I used the rustoleum bedliner in a spray can on my TJ's differential covers 5 years (or so) ago. They have taken a few hard hits against rocks, but still look pretty good. If you want to spray on a liner, I would suggest you look at the UPol Raptor from TCP Tools. Little over $100 for liner, hardner and a gun. www.tptools.com/p/2600,186_U-Pol-Raptor-Truck-Bed-Liner-Kit.html
  5. This past weekend I took the Comanche out wheeling in the snow. Had a blast. However, I did manage to break traction while trying to climb a steep snowy/icy hill. Gravity overcame my truck and the poor truck slid backwards into a tree. Bumper was folded up preventing the tailgate from opening. Then when I returned home: I did have my cable blanket over the cable when pulling. There, its fixed: No loss really. The bumper is a Fey and the bed is swiss cheese. Glad I didn't damage the tail light though :) Regardless, it was a great day. The Comanche out wheeled the yota all day too! Don't tell anybody, but I thought the yota would run circles around me out there.
  6. I started eying the diesel in my buddies CAT skid loader when he helped me unload an axle. If anybody can make this work, it is you Jim.
  7. All of my Apps, listed in order of use: 1. TapaTalk - all of my favorite forums available in one click 2. Craigslist Pro - makes quick work of searching all cities within a defined area 3. iHeartRadio - streams my favorite classic rock station from KC (101.1 the fox), anywhere 4. Back County Pro - allows me to download topo maps so they can be used offline. Great GPS function as well 5. WeatherBug Elite - all weather info needed in one spot 6. 2X Client - remote connect to my PC and control it via my phone. Works just like Remote Desktop provided by Windows XP 7. Facebook - it's Facebook
  8. My guess is the 13mm bolt on the tcase adjustment rod (part of the linkage) has become loose and allowed the lever to move, but not the tcase position. But first, will the truck go into 4LO?
  9. Heck, they are in KC!?!?!? What about pick up?
  10. Count me in for a set. Prefer the 4+1 but wouldnt complain about a 3+1. Any idea how shipping would be handled/calculated?
  11. A good friend of mine is a Toyota person. We love to take jabs at each others vehicle of choice. It boils down to personal choice. I like Jeeps, he likes Toyota. Either one can be built into your dream rig. Or you could be persuaded by facts! http://comancheclub.com/index.php?/topic/35629-1989-Jeep-Comanche-"car-Wars"-Comparison---Laserdisc-Conversion Watch the video :)
  12. Very nice.
  13. A cheap place to mount lights? Cut down a factory XJ roof rack and mount it to the MJ. Then mount lights on the XJ crossbars :)
  14. Couldn't have asked for a better outcome!
  15. Sounds like the carb is flooding. There are some aftermarket carbed designed to work better at extreme angles. I am unsure of their compatibility with the V6. Hydraulic bumpstops. Example: www.kingshocks.com/category/products/bumpstops/ Example: store.jksmfg.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=BUMPSHOCKS&Store_Code=JKS01&Category_Code=Coil_Spring Best advise: Don't jump a stock MJ.
  16. I completely agree. The only way I might read a thread in the 'popular' forum is if it pops up in tapatalk.
  17. I love living in the county :) No animal tax.
  18. I talked with my body shop guy at length about this. Ultimately I (we) decided to media blast the frame rails, coat in POR15 and apply a top coat of paint. It was his opinion (nearly 40 years of experience) that POR15 and a top coat would protect the frame for the remainder of the truck's life and then some. He views undercoating as an expensive top coat that simply looks bad after a few years and doesn't provide any additional protection.
  19. Congrats! Those are the two tips many folks gave me when I was tying the knot. Seems to be the most honest/useful advise I received.
  20. Routine. Make sure you get into a routine with the pup. Best of luck. Your patience will be tested :)
  21. I have an internal slave ax15/231 I'd let go for $150 if you come pick it up near Junction City, KS.
  22. The rain, then ice, then snow fell here this week. I was looking forward to playing rescue truck by assisting motorists who slid off of the county roads. My Jeeps always have a couple tow straps and D-Rings just for this reason. As I started my drive to town, I thought, 'Hey, this NP207 sure is quiet in 4-Hi today' just as the truck broke traction and started sliding around on me. It turns out it was NOT in 4wd. I immediately assumed my linkage had fallen out of adjustment and was simply not engaging the transfercase properly as I had preformed the 'slide collar and flip' CAD lock so I went back home. After several failed attempts at getting the truck to engage 4wd, I decided to inspect the CAD actuator housing; maybe the shift fork broke. I found that the shift fork was moving freely along with the actuator rod in the housing. The actuator motor was also full of gear oil which spurted everywhere when I operating the shift fork by hand. It turns out that flipping the CAD actuator motor did not lock my axle shafts together for long. The motor worked its self loose and allowed the collar to slide back into the 'unlocked' position. To fix it, I slid the actuator rod all the way over, removed the c-clip holding the fork, slid the fork to the other side and re-installed the c-clip. This should keep the axle shafts locked together as the actuator motor is maxed out in one direction and the fork/c-clip will keep it from sliding in the other direction. Now my NP207 is back to whining like a cat with its tail in a blender when in 4-hi.
  23. Haha. Nice!
  24. Very nice
  25. No, no, no. If it is quiet, you can't hear it. If you cannot hear it, it cannot sound '$h!#y'. Granted, you must realize we all are voicing our opinions. What you like is probably different. If I had $$$ to spend and I wanted to experiment, I would try a Hi Flow Cat and glasspack with 2.5" pipe past the glasspack with the 2.5. Heck, my 2.5 with the exhaust cut past the gutted cat wasn't unbearable, but I didn't like it.
