Quick help needed: clutch issue (ba10)
yxmj replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If the cap is popping off that means you are not getting a seal from the stem tip seal #9 in the pic. The way a master works is when the spring pushes the piston back (no pressure on the clutch) fluid is drawn in to the cylinder barrel from the reservoir by way of a small hole at the front of the "barrel" of the master. If you have it apart you can see a small 3/32(?) hole at the end. As you put your foot down it pushes the plunger forward causing valve stem assembly to move forward and the stem tip seal to block off the hole from the master to the reservoir.....once the hole is blocked the fluid has no choice but to exit out the top hole (that is the line that leads to the slave) and activate the slave. Since you are blowing the cap off the reservoir somehow your stem tip seal is not in place or damaged and the fluid is just taking the path of least resistance back into the reservoir. -
Advice for clutch bleeding........
yxmj replied to happyjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It forms on your garage floor when you are bleeding your clutch wrong -
I guess it's not all that similar. But for what it's worth there used to be a Raider manufacturing plant in my city, years ago. As an aside, that is a really sweet Comanche, I tried tracking the owner down months ago but the guy I tracked down had sold it. Then I saw it again last week so took a pic. If it's still there I will try to track down the current owner and tell him to call me when he wants to sell it :-) Thanks....it is a sweet Mj ....and that top fits it perfect

Replacing trans lines with an hoses
yxmj replied to Dando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you go by this http://www.dormanproducts.com/itemdetail.aspx?ProductID=28973&SEName=800-714 It is 3/8..........is that what you are asking? -
I do not beilieve so.......Maybe with a 2.8 out of an 86 you could but the 2.5 will have a differnt bolt pattern for the trans.....unless of course you change that as well. :dunno:
-
No, Not the new ones Very similar but the bellhousing bolt pattern is differnt so unless you had a trans with a SBC or V6 bolt pattern no. But The iron duke was used in CJ's....so if you tracked down an old one with a tranny? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Duke_engine

yxmj replied to teamsmith's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you want to buy time.......don't use 3rd gear....... :dunno: -
It's located on the drivers side of the bell housing......you should be able to see it from the top......but you will have to access it from the bottom.

Microsoft Security Essentials works great. Norton is like a bouncer at the door of a bar, slowing everyone down. MSconfig from the menu. Go to Start Up. Whittle it down to a minimum. If you have Norton it will be a major battle to get rid of it....it is the worst kind of bug

Holding Strength of Comanche parking brake?
yxmj replied to hillbilly51's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The brake should hold the truck even on a slight incline. I do not know the grade of the hill you tested on buy it should hold as if you had your foot on the brake. The parking brake is adjusted by lengthening the adjuster screw/bolt in the brake assembly #12 ( I usually turn it out till you can just fit the drum on) It should I believe self adjust.....pump your brakes numerous times and try again -

Quick help needed: clutch issue (ba10)
yxmj replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is your master,,,, If you look at the diagram below...the reason you have to double pump or hold your foot on to get clutch is that the small rubber cup #9 is not seating and sealing properly. Easy test is take off the cover of the master and have someone push down on the clutch for a full stroke.....does the fluid rise or do you get bubbles? Read this if you have time....since you have to take it out anyway ,,,,,,if you have an hour and a bit of mech skill you could save yourself some $$ http://comancheclub.com/topic/41742-clutch-master-rebuild-mod/ -
Thats funny ..... A picture would also help to see if she's worth doing time over... or me jumping on a plane lol That is slick down under.....send me a pic of your girlfriend and i will tell you if she is worth it.....crude....but slick

I don't know what kind of rim you have but I would jack it up....take the lugs off.....spray penetrating oil in the holes of the lug bolts.....spray penetrating oil on the front (if you can get at it) of the brake drum.....let it soak. Get a wooden block and a BFH....put the block agaist the back of the rim and give it a few good shots.....a helper rotating the wheel would come in handy  . :MJ 1: .

yxmj replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 2,8 will not have the ponies to pull the d-rings off,,,,your safe  -
How do you know it's not the rear main seal? Where do you think the rear main seal would leak other than into the bellhousing? OP says not motor oil;...........unless he is running \\tranny/brake/hydraulic fluid in the motor..........
