Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. I am currently working on CAD modeling the entire frame and unitbody of the MJ. This will simplify the ability of mocking custom frame mounts, stiffeners, and bumpers. I plan to make this open source. If you have a gmail account send me your email and I'll add you to a special drive of mine where you will be able to access the parts files for Solidworks. Be patient Its not anywhere near done yet. I hope to have it completely done by the end of the summer, and hopefully a large portion don before the end of may.
  2. mnkyboy do you possibly have the measurement for the frame sa? I have a cnc plasma table at my shop I can get them made but I am two hours away from the truck now and have little time to drive up there and CAD the frame. Which I will do eventually.
  3. So it seems I have the exact opposite problem as most people ive seen online. my reese hitch is rusted. the ball mount is not stuck in, rather it can't be put in. The rusting caused the side walls to swell some. Ive been trying to chip away at the rust with a chisel but it is hard to get down inside the mount hole. Any advice? I took it off the truck so I can work on it better. I'm going to sandblast it and repaint it after.
  4. Building up a very fast Comanche. I have a 350 small block under the hood. I have experience stiffening the frame of baja buggies and tube frame cars but I don't know how to start with a Comanche. The unitbody front and full frame rear has me in a bind. I know the absolute best thing to do is cut it all off and build my own full frame but I don't have the money for that now. Anybody have any ideas on how to build up the unitbody under the cab? For the rear I'm thinking 4130 2x4 .095 or .125 gussets then lightweight them. The front though probably stiffen sidewalls and sandwich top, maybe add gussets but I don't know what the best option would be. Anyone have any experience with this?
  5. Approximately how much did this cost you? I got a college house that been needing a kegerator and I can find an old mini fridge pretty easily.
  6. I purchased a cheap ford ranger from a police auction to get me around while I am working on my restomod for my comanche. With it getting colder I decided to try fixing the heat. It seams to be warm enough but my blower motor hasn't worked properly. It started with just low speed the two middle speed nothing and high speed. This is a textbook blower motor resistor right? So I replaced it. Now I get slow, a little bit faster but not by much, the same as the previous speed, and full force. What could be wrong with it? I could try another blower motor resistor in case this one is faulty but I doubt it.
  7. Yes I said car get over it. That's what a comanche is a car, an automobile, a truck, a mode of transportation any and all. Not the time to test me brother. My patience is already worn rather thin.
  8. So I know a car sight is probably not the best place to ask but I have a feeling that you guys could probably help me a bit. I have a lovely girlfriend, great girl, care for her dearly. Her brother was one of my best friends in high school. He hates me now, understandable. I was ok with this for a while. Yesterday he crossed the line, not going into it. How do I effectively get across to him that if he doesn't drop his childishness that I'll knock him into the middle of next week. P.s. He's the only one in his family that feels this way, his folks love me, his sisters adore me, even his girlfriend secretly sides with me but is too afraid to tell that little squeak pig. Thanks in advance brothers.
  9. went to work on underbody rust and had to clear this stuff off to weld in new floor pans.
  10. Thanks I'm running a 350 small block for a low budget racer and don't have enough stopping power.
  11. I have a dana 35 rear end right now and i am currently redoing all my brake lines after this past winter the negative 30 days were cold enough to burst my brake line. i figure since I'm going through all this work i might aswell convert my rear brake drums to disk brakes. I know some of the grand cherokees later came with rear disk brakes i just want to know what all do i need to grab from the grand cherokee at a junk yard to convert them I'll end up buying brand new calipers and rotors and pads from the store but i still need all the mounting hardware. any suggestions or advice from anyone who has done this?
  12. I'm removing mine now, however, this still my daily driver. I know I can zip-tie my tail lights to the frame and I've seen a picture of a guy who still drove his Comanche without a bed. I know I would need to support the tank somehow.Any ideas?
  13. Hopefully this is viewable I don't know how else to do this.
  14. first off, how do I post pictures to this thing?
  15. Starting my big project, 86' Jeep Comanche Custom 2.8L gm v6. I have already acquired the majority of the parts, I am currently rebuilding components and still putting my money together for my baby. So far, I have a SBC 350, sm465, and np231 to set for my drive line. I will be posting pictures through out the entire build I just have a couple to post now but expect a lot of photos.
