Rodeo Dana 44 Rear Disc Brakes
Oizarod115 replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
so, theoretically one could find a rodeo with a 44 and swipe the disc brake setup off of it and have it fit an XJ44 right? and also steal the pinion flange/u-joint holder... cause that thing looks BEEFY -
:rotfl2:
-
the ecu temp gauge for a 4.0 is along the side of the block under the intake/exhaust... so check around the sides of your block for another one.
-
couldn't you basically order your manche any way you wanted it? cause i have a base model no power windows/locks, with a/c 4.0 and full gauges which wouldn't normally be in a sportruck right?
-
hey! I have a chevy motor...well, buick but still! it was in a chevy... hey! i didn't say that! lol, chevy swaps are the best bang for the buck, but you gotta admit a amc 401 IS a more interesting choice.

DOH! is there a stupid slap emoticon? :thwak: that one works i guess

FIVE HUNDRED!?! jesus man. it better bolt right in with no extra $$ from your pocket.

read 'a child called it' and 'the lost boy' for sociology... WOOOOW. talk about tough to read man. ouch. stuff'll seriously take a grown man near tears. my dad reads Dean Koontz now that i think of it, and i'll definately check into 'the testament' dude, thanks for the input yall
-
so i've been wantin to read a little bit lately and don't know what to pick up, what do yall like to read? my latest farvorite was John Grisham's The Firm

you know what man, i have electric fans an i'd bet the increased load from the alternator eats up any ponies i gained. cause at idle a flip of the switch is usually good for a 100rpm drop however... a flip of a switch and i'm up to however many horses i gained from ditchin the clutch fan oh and i'm runnin a 4.0 with a stock e-fan and another small car e-fan and i stay at 210 perfectly, maybe 215 on REALLY hot days, but if i idle for long enough it'll come on down to 205ish anytime and my truck has always had cooling problems i've never really seen it run below 190 after fully warmed up
-
don't forget anyone who was in love with honcho trucks could've easily had some decals made up for his MJ.
-
thanks hornbrod for the effects... sounds like thats what i'll be doin to my truck when i can get the 2" spacers in.
-
this is a main inhibitor of most people runnin the 242... cause of this if you plan on hardcore wheelin the truck you're gonna need a 231 or even if you're just wheelin on the weekends, s&*$ happens. fortunately 231s are dime a dozen and you can usually afford to keep a spare lyin about JIC

yeah they hold a 12 oz can perfectly, will hold QT cups perfect but only one of them, and small mcdonalds cups are to small base they will topple over, taco bell medium cups fit side by side but only one larger one ;) got any more questions about what will fit? :D i eat alot of fast food and spend alot of time in the heep.

If you have to ask why, then you probably don't realize just how long the winters are up there. :D  haha, i think it looks pretty decent, definately different, i hope he's running a 350 with straight pipes and a front bench seat with custom dash or something that would make it a true hot-rod just like they used to do it... only other thing would be to lower the roof down 3-4 inches and make the front windshield real short

hell yeah man, those winches are badd. i can't wait i started school wednesday at gwinnett tech (like the second runner up in tech schools in the SE to NTI/UTI i only wish i could go there (luckyass :insert middle finger smiley here: )) we get to wrench on our trucks in the shop, luckily I'm in the toyota t-ten program and they just put in 10 new hydraulic lifts in, and then theres the floor lifts :brows: but i can only use them for day projects, can't be left there overnight

my puke-goat has been grinding when i go to shift but only if I'm gettin on it, like if i slam a shift at 4,500 it'll grind a slight bit ont he way in, and then if i downshift from 5th to 4th without revvin it up a tiny bit, or movin up towards 3rd then puttin it back to 4th, like swing almost into 3rd then hit 4th it won't grind but if i just downshift to 4th itll grind sound anything like what yours was doin before it took the poop?
-
cargasm. but i'd have left the brushed look that usually comes on those rims. otherwise... back to cargasming. johnq has competition now
-
haha, thats why i ship things like the insides of a t-case try to kick that one to a better place on the truck ;) 61lbs of straight metal :brows:
-
i say run the wood a little higher to tie in with the body line there, take a lok at some 80s woody's see how they looked

Help with tranny Mount postition?
Oizarod115 replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
still havent gotten this one resolved? -
depends on the year, the AW4 changed over from 21-23 spline in the 91 year. so a 1990 will be a 21 spline case and a 91 a 23 spline. there has been some discussion of long-input and short-input but i've seen like 5 of them, and never noticed a difference in them so idk jack about that.
-
lots of people have run 231s on dry pavement with no issues, which is what he's talkin bout but it's pretty much agreed that it IS detrimental to the case in the long run i'm swappin in a 242 just cause i'm swappin my 231 for 2 free ax15s ;) so why not upgrade :dunno: but there is less aftermarket for them like SYE's and lower-low-range kits
-
again, bout at its limit... the XJ has been running 35s on a ARB locker/alloy USA shafts, and no gusseting for over a year no troubles. but its an auto tranny which tends to be easier on shock and stuff like that, and we're usually not the right pedal kind-a wheelers with a 4.0 and 4.88s you don't have to be
