What springs from another rig will work?
Oizarod115 replied to 500-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i assume you're lookin for a front coil spring... ford truck springs (iirc f150) will give ~3" of lift but they ride a teensy bit on the harsh side  that is to say rides like a bull. cougar/thunderbird springs supposedly give 3" and have a closer spring ratio to what we have now... i think loweredjeep (is that his name?) had them. other than that take some measurements and look around man... v8 zj springs supposedly give bout an inch, and spacers or maybe ACOS. -
powertrain warranty. :brows: its really not practical to drive a vehicle that expensive until you pay it off anyways, you'd end up losing alot of money. but yeah, from lookin under the hood i can see how workin on one might be a complete PITA.
-
expensive choice ;) so from that i guess you're plan is to plastic-"weld" the flares larger? or just work with them?

I work for an International dealer and not one tech would buy a Ford pick-up with the VT-365 diesel engine. They would buy the old 7.3, but the new engines are junk. They all say a Dodge with the Cummins is the way to go. The Chevy rates second and the Ford is a no go... whats so bad about them? only thing i've heard is the whole flame-shooting incident.
-
damn... those flares look good on there man.
-
probly not worth the trouble considering this http://www.4xshaft.com (tom-woods driveline website) appears that's a machined stock shaft? whoops... i'd have figured tom woods' stuff would be the HD unit, lemme check AA then
-
the F250 diesel engine is a 6900$ upgrade. and it also adds like 700 pounds not worth buyin the truck if it's not diesel though so i wouldn't blink twice.

yeah, if only i can figure out how to get that old longblock 4-0 in the livin room before ma' spies me :brows:

Rear shackle relocation into frame rail?
Oizarod115 replied to TNT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i'm sure burning on perches is no problem for you, but relocating the shackles up further would drop the pinion quite a bit right? another method might be to sell the stanley springs, and buy a set of Xploder leafs or something else that we know will be near-stock manche replacements and use those SOA :dunno: -
http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoAlignment.htm see "steering wheel adjustment" pretty far down the page. Go-Jeep is master-explainer.

couldn't be the CPS wiring could it? or it wouldn't be the first bad CPS (hasn't someone had trouble with that before?)
-
ok thanks But i am leaning towrd the steering box being not centered ... pretty sure they're talkin about the same thing... basically since you lifted the truck, the drag link is pulled up higher and because its a y-link the steering geometry got fubar-d so when you adjust the drag link the steering wheel and the tires will be pointing straight.
-
haah yeah, that was hilarious, you watch all the rebuttal videos :D i love it. thats rich. :Canadaflag: :USAflag: (is that avatar your truck? or just a totally BA superduty?)
-
yeah, and i forgot to say the XJ is on 35s with 6.5"
-
lol, i cannot wait for the 25th cause toy-tech school starts the 26th  btw... WOW a real-world warthog? thats frickin sweet.
-
the XJ doesnt have a swaybar... but it's got RE coils and they're stiff as crap, been running sans swaybar for a year or so, that includes plenty of highway and around town... just remember what you're driving. and no i still don't recommend it, things can get hairy.
-
i don't remember if anyone suggested this, but turn the key to run before starting the truck to 'prime' the pump. then release back to off, turn to run again and re-prime it a second time, then try to crank it, and see if that doesn't improve crank time. only thing i can think of to try and help out, if it still takes a while with the system primed up good then idk. i know that when i swapped tanks and was FLAT empty, i put in a good 3 gallons and had to prime the system probly 5 times then crank on it for a good 5-7 seconds cause it was bone dry.
-
like he said, CJ=2-piece axelshafts=crap. MJ/XJ would be a good axle, a little harder to find parts for but not bad. and yeah, the J trucks had nice axles... 6lug though and wayyy wide
-
at&t wireless card man. get the hookup... then let me know how much it costs ;)
