  1. Congrats!! I just finished cleaning out my Chevy parts to make room for more Jeep parts!
  2. Ok here is an UPDATE!! WOOOO Sorry it's been so long, had to take pics with the cell. work, blah blah blah. Top is an 8x10 Military canvas tarp. 3 hoops bent up by myself, the first is welded to the top of the bed, the second and third and removable. Top is pulled tight with pull straps (Don't pull too hard, it will rip the tarp). It stays on the truck up to 50mph so far with no flapping or tearing. The poles running front to back are old tent poles, and I welded the ends onto the rollbar, so they are still a slip fit. Let me know if anyone has anyquestions. Kosmic Krome

The whole truck? as in body panels? In the past, I've had a tough time scuffing the POR-15 for paint. It can be done, but I've had a hard time getting it to sand evenly. And just painting over it won't work, as nothing will really adhere to the POR-15. Maybe someone else has tried it and found a way to use POR15 as a primer...I would be interested in this aswell.
  4. I don't think ive owned a vehicle with more nooks and crannies for stuff to collect then my MJ. The good news is, once it rots, everything falls out the holes. :D
  5. the little man looks real excited in those flex pics haha. Cool looking truck tho. Any issues with visibility with the lights on the cowl?
  6. Hey dude...you gotta post up some specs on this bad boy. Like the full gauges, buckets, a/c etc. That thing had lotsa goodies
  7. When you turn your headlights on and a turn indicator stays lit up, it means one of your side lights is out. I usually give mine a good open handed whack-a-roo and they straighten out :D
  8. ehh...with bumpstops, trimming, the right backspacing...probably. here's my build thread. My truck has 6.5" lift and 34" tsl for reference viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14017&p=175635&hilit=swamp+yankee#p175635
  9. I vote for Military Green Shirt (tan print) Second choice would be Tan shirt (dark green print) Third is Orange Shirt (dark green print)
  10. I'm planning on adding at least on more hoop, and most likely some top bars running front to back. The only part that isnt bolt on is going to be the main hoop behind the cab. It actually does pretty good as far as wind. I've had it up to 50 mph with just the ratchet straps holding it in, and it doesn't flap at all, just kinda gets sucked inward from the wind. It's still in the development stages, but I just couldn't wait to show you guys :D Image Not Found Image Not Found
  11. Well, here it is....just an initial test fit. Like it? Love it? Image Not Found P.S. I don't know what they coat army tarps with, but it reeks some awful.
  12. You're going to have to physically check them to be sure. Thats a very rare gear ratio, so you can't be sure based on just the options, engine, etc.
  13. From Jeep Forum: Gearing 3.07 - used with 4.0L engine / manual transmission 3.31 - only available on older (pre87?) 2 door XJs with "Fuel Economy" package 3.55 - used with 4.0L engine / automatic transmission 3.73 - found in some XJs with the towing package 4.10 - used with 2.5L engine usually, and older XJs with the "Off-Highway Vehicle" package. 4.56 - rare but can be found on some older (~ 89 ~) models with 2.5L engine and auto transmission
  14. In my opinion (probably not worth much haha) 1. Transfer case drop not needed 2. I've seen NEW coils much cheaper. I just bought RC 6.5" coils for $130 from my local dist. I know everyone says RE is real nice, but after buying a used 4.5" RE lift with tweaked coils, I just can't see spending $50 more for used coils. Especially if they have been run with control arms that weren't designed for that lift (assuming fixed control arms and previous owner ran 4.5" coils AND the spacers like mine was) 3. You have control arms already? 4. Just get the right sized coils....spacers are a pain 5. Worth it depending on condition. I know it probably sounds like everyone is preaching to do things the "right way" but it's because we've all been there. I've been building my truck on a budget too. As others have said, buy parts slowly, look for whole donor vehicle you can make money off, and don't take shortcuts on the important things like suspension, brakes, etc. You can still enjoy the truck while you aquire your lift parts.

    new compressor

I will NEVER buy another oil-less Craftsman compressor again. Our 10 gal has electrical problems monthly, and our 30 gal at the bog shop has blown the cylinder/piston to pieces 3 times now. Not to mention the unbearable noise. :fs1:
  16. :agree: There aren't many good-hearted people left it seems, but stories like this help keep my faith in society. One a side note, I just watched WAY too many rescue bunny videos, those damn things are cute.
  17. I liked the one of him singing much better
  18. I don't think I want to know where that other hand is.
  19. Started on the main hoop for my "bed thingy"......its top-secret for now, but I'll post pics as soon as it is done. I also got the pass side balljoints done...driver's side was supposed to be done tonight, but I went and picked up a FREE 6 foot plow!! Pics if it ever stops raining here. Out of the 22 days of June, we've had rain for 18. looks like we have atleast 3 more days until we see a good day too. Kill me.
  20. My junk, all piled in together....
  21. Is that thing running PORTAL AXLES?!?!?! Awesome.
  22. I too did passenger side balljoints today. Drivers side is tomorow. I left the lower balljoint bushing in place, as it seemed to be in decent shape. I'll keep and eye on it and if it becomes sloppy, then I will replace it. Autozone charged $140 to rent the ball joint press....man I hate trying to figure out what goes which way, etc. Setting up the press takes the longest in the whole job. I have heard of people grinding down old sockets to use the install the bushing/sleeve/whatever its called. Might be an option to consider, tho i've never tried it.
  23. Truck's looking great bud! It's nice to have a girl that supports the habit lol.
  24. ya, my old man is the same way...and chances are he doesn't know how to check his missed calls either.
