Looks like the one for a HO to me :dunno:

They tried to make me go to Jeep-hab, but I said "NO, NO, NO" ...sorry...

I'll have a whole assembly available in a week or so. Let me know. From a 1988 4.0l w/o AC

I'll have to check my part XJ to see if the E-brake cable is a different length...doubt it will be longer, but who knows. Also, I skipped the Dakota rear brake hose. I had enough room in the hard line to move the "hard to soft bracket" down and mount it on the Prop Valve bracket. Seems to have plenty of room now.
-
Anybody found a solution for longer E-brake cables? This always seems to be overlooked. Mine are getting pretty close to being limiting straps

Bill of sale and price on title mean nothing now. They might as well not exist.

you bet your bloody arse.... Registry of Motor Vehicles

This is true for the older AX-5's to BA10/5...so I would assume it's true for the AX-4? My buddies 2001 TJ with 2.5/AX-5...short input shaft. My 86 MJ with 2.8/AX-5...longer input shaft. My 87 MJ with 4.0/BA 10/5...short input shaft. Hope that helps.

Went to register the truck today. It used to be that in Mass, you would pay sales tax on the price written on the title. However, the registry got tired of people "buying" 2 year old cars for $500 to avoid sales tax. So now we are charged based on book value for the vehicle. I found this out last Feb when I bought my 2000 GMC Yukon. I paid $8000 for the truck, but paid sales tax on 11,500. Ok....I was a little ticked off, but I dealt with it. Sent a family member to the registry today while I was at work. Knowing the whole book value deal, I KBB'd the truck: 1988 Comanche Sport truck 2x4 auto short bed 122k. In excellent condition it was valued at roughly $2300....I can live with that. The registry had other ideas however....$7900!! WHAT?!?!?! ARE THEY CRAZY?!?! I paid $300 for the thing...it's different colors and had no floor pans! Gimme a break here! They then proceeded to say that in good condition the truck was worth $5600. Even though the original price was only what...$6500? We finally argued them down to $2500 for fair to poor condition, which is still high in my opinion. Now I know we all love these trucks, and I wouldn't sell mine for less than $10k haha, but what gives?! Sorry....just needed to vent a little. As a side note, I'm loving driving this thing!! It's a blast. Brad

Ya, I'll be running the D35 until I regear the 44. The rear end and to control arms were really my only worries with this truck, so between the D44 and ordering my adj. control arms, I won't hesitate to romp this thing -
A good local parts store should have an exhaust catalog with pictures of the exact pipes.

CW- my parts truck does have the tailgate pieces your looking for, but I forgot my torx-bits :fs1: I'll get them this weekend.

SCORE!!!! had a good weekend. Picked up a Jerry can at the swap meet for $5 and an ammo box for $12. Also picked up a running driving 87 cherokee for $300. It has a 4.0l, the AW4 and NP231 that I needed, plus......a Dana 44!! So it looks like I have lots to do in the next few weeks. Thank god school is over on thursday. Image Not Found -
So....how Much POR-15 did you get on yourself. No matter how hard I try, I always end up with blacks spots on me somewhere. Dad got some on his nose once....that was funny. Looks good. Keep it up!

Just orded the Monroe Matic 32293. Perfect size and rubber bump stopped! The best part is I got the pair for under $45 with 2 day shipping included!! At that price I had to try them. We'll see how they work out. My track bar and sway bar disco's should be comming in tomorrow. I'm hoping to have this thing on the road in 2wd trim by next week. Image Not Found -
I run the Hobart handler 125 with .035 flux core as well. Not sure if they share the same feed system, but the only thing that comes to mind is the spring or roller for the wire. If it is too restrictive, you would need alot of tensionto move the wire. Make sure the nut/spring assembly isn't too tight on the wire roll. But come to think of it, I've cranked the tension down pretty good to get the wire moving after a kink, and never had the type of problem you have. so..... :dunno:

Exhaust is welded up and on, still pretty loud, but not bad. Toe-in is set. Painted more POR-15 and decided to never do bodywork on this truck. I've done enough on my past projects. Measured for shocks in the rear and got the rear brake hardware done. No pictures as it was crappy weather all weekend. Monroe Shock info for SOA setup: Need: 12"-13.5" compressed 19"-21" extended 5/8 x 1 5/16 loop mounts top and bottom (code L1) Monroe Matic Plus: 31000 12"-19.5" 31094 12"-19" 32293 12"-19" Rubber Bumpstop 32377 12.625"-19.750" Gas Magnum: 34803 13.25"-21" 34905 12.625"-19.750" Sensa-trac Truck: 37073 13"-20.750" 37078 12.625"-20" 37112 12.375"-19" Rubber Bumpstop Reflex Truck: 911078 12.625"-20" 911530 13"-20.75" -
Here's a full list fo monroe shocks by lengths/mounting types, etc. I found it very helpful. Could be useful for anyone doing SOA, or home-brew lifts. I can do a full write-up as to what kind of mounting the front an rear use, etc. I would post it up in the DIY section if people think it would be helpful. http://www.monroe.com/catalog/documents ... hSheet.pdf Brad

1/4-20 bolts here too. Make sure you use the washers though, because the bolt heads will rip through the plastics.
-
You can always go 4wd later down the road. As CW said, it's all bolt-in. So keep it 2wd for now, and you can convert later when you have the funds. It won't really change any plans you have for restoring it.
-
Thanks guys. I am doing the 4wd conversion, which is why I'm looking for a 4wd tranny. I have acess to several spare NP231s, with both spline counts. I was mostly concerned with the wiring. I just found a '96 tranny for $50, so I think I'll pick that up. Brad
