    Snow Day

Got another 6" or so last night. Mostly powder with an inch of sleet on top. Pretty windy too. I spent the day plowing out the family and helping the boss plow out the farm equipment. Here's some pics of my little girl outside (notice the 'manch under a blanket of snow in the background) And one of the 1970 Chevy C50 dump that I bought to plow with. Enjoy, because I sure didn't
  2. Thanks Pete! I don't really mind digging around a bit for info, but I figured it might be a little aggrivating for other members as well.
  3. Search term used: soa shocks ignored: soa :dunno: Still doesn't work for me? Thanks for moving this for me btw :dunce:
  4. Anybody know how to make the search NOT ignore words? Like when I search SOA shocks....it ignores SOA. Even if I put it in quotes??? Probably a silly question, but it's driving me nuts.
  5. Looks great! What kinda of paint?
  6. Thanks guys, It's been my project since I was a freshmen in HS (almost 7 years now). I've had my fun with it, but I just can't bring myself to paint it. I know I won't be able to leave it anywhere. Plus, it gets me in trouble. I'm really considering letting it go this spring and just focusing on the Jeep. But back on topic, the Blitz Black has held up amazingly. I wiped the bird turds off it yesterday (spent the winter in a barn) and there wasn't even a spot on it after. None of it was peeling or had surface rust bleeding thru. I would HIGHLY recomend this paint, especially for offroad trucks. And shelby, they didn' line up that good originally :D The last pic has the flash on to show the satin finish. I've still got a half gallon left to shoot the Manche in spring.
  7. Took the old Chevy out and warm it up. Here's some pics of Blitz Black for reference. (I swear I don't know where those posi marks came from :D )
  8. Me likey! That 3 part two tone looks good.
  9. Two words Pete: CLUB BUILD!
  10. DO IT! but make the back a bed with a hot tub :brows:
  11. On the positive battery terminal there is a set of 5 or so wires with a plug. Make sure they are all making connection. One of the wires "excites" the altenator which creates the field around the widinings to start charging...blah blah blah. On our Nissan farm truck, none of the electronics would work and the alt. wouldn't charge unless the truck was revved to 3 grand. Some altenators are "excited" by rpms (older diesels have a charge light for this reason) The positive wire just ensures that the alt is charging if the truck never makes it to 3k rpm. The truck would act fine once the alt. began charging. Could be something similar in your case. Hope that was helpful haha
  12. I never said keep your STOCK carb :dunce: Theres a reason I didnt build the 86 2.8l in my yard. To be honest, I have no experience with the 2.8, was just trying to pass along some info I had found somewhere. Thought it could be helpful.
  13. Put the Tahoe on the trailer
  14. Swap in the 3.4 and keep your carb. Here's a good link to add to your favorites http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Pro ... ect_XJ.htm
  15. I painted my 69 chevy shoptruck with John Deere Blitz Black. It's a semi gloss black, really durable, seals extremely well, rough-and-shoot type paint. No hardener required. I shot my truck with a cheapy spray gun from harbor freight and it came out great. Might be an option for some guys looking to have a scratch resistant finish without rhino lining the whole truck. My 88 will get this paint in the spring.
  16. Good to hear she is getting somewhat better.... Still in our thoughts and prayers.
  17. Ill have to try that on lunch break tomorrow Pete. I hope I figure something out...I really don't want to cut anything I don't have to. Brad
  18. I tried it with the lock rod pulled in each direction....nothing. Could the bear claw latch be frozen?
  19. The doors won't open on my '86. Anybody ever dealt with this before? The windows are down, and I took the door panels off from inside, but the latchs just won't releas no matter how hard I pull the rods. Any ideas?
  20. AHHHH I see. I like how you have that planned out. Very slick indeed. I will be looking forward to seing this come together!!
  21. Pete, I assume you are planning an exo? I'll be interested in seeing what you have in mind. Maybe you'll have some .dwg files before the build starts?
  22. well rolling wasn't in my plan. I see that not many guys here run a cage either...so I guess we can say that most trucks on here NEED MORE TRIANGULATION!!
  23. good point Jim, if i do built it, I'll build it pretty stout.

    True use of tools

TABLE SAW: A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity. hahahaha my favorite.
  25. Right soooooo let me get this straight... If i had said "I'm going to wheel my stock-bodied truck in tight woods..." and never mentioned an exo NOBODY would have said anything... Why is it that as soon as sombody mentions puting a tube over their head, it turns into "HOLY CRAP HE'S GONNA DIE IF HE DOESN'T COVER THAT TRUCK WITH TUBE!!!!!!!" Common now, give it a rest. I didn't ask if you thought I would live if I roll this in the desert at 96mph. I'm going to wheel it the same, either way...just wanted to try to preserve the cab a little. I know there is a place for triangulation and serious built cages. But don't be silly.
